Quin and Alkaizer - POE vs Diablo?

One can not get a better answer. Personally I play PoE almost full season and it is much more fun than D3.

First of all i dont trust your source. Just use google for tetris figures. there is something like 170 million copys sold. Your figure of 58 million is far away. further more to my mind tetris is something like a legend among games. i just asked out of curiosity my gaming buddys. Everyone of them that answered played tetris. Even my parents that toled me that gaming is a waste of time played tetris. i would even doubt the figure of 170 million. I Think it is just an appropriate guess because tetris launched on so many systems in so many countries over decades that it is nearly impossible to get the sales figures correctly. I would guess in reality the sales figures could be even higher. Further more the number is for all version of tetris. if the black and white 8 Bit gameboy 1 version of Tetris would have been released unchanged, i guess a lot of people wouldnt even try it because to my mind “gen-Z” want nearly always “eye-candy”

Second i dont understand your statement at all ? Why should d2 be on the list? Tetris released on at least 20 different systems over nearly 4 decades. To my mind It was on of the first versions of a casual friendly game. Easy to learn hard to master. It can be played 10 minutes and you are fine. It doesnt aged bad at all. A 64 bit playstation I version of it, is state of the art. Diablo 2 on the other hand aged horrible for the demands of the market for “Gen-Z”. Gen-Z want eye-candy d2 is eye-cancer on so many lvls. Further more i talked to Gen-Zs a lot of times and most of them would say that this satement is truth : new > old. D2 is old so it “has to be worse”. Further more gen-Z want very often getting “success” for doing absolutly nothing and have the feeling that they are the king of the world. in d2 you die even with a max out character of lv 99 and perfect gear if you mess up. Further more items are rare and you have to be farmed for them ( you have kind to work for them). when blizzard fixed the drope rates that you get at least 1 legendary per hour for me the game was fine and rewarding. For d3 millenials this wasnt enough. After all the buffing we are farming around 150 legendaries per hour! I mean wtf?!?! And now the game is boring and not competative after nerfing the game by 1000% and buffing the drops by 15000%? I mean gen-Z i guess dont know what they want.

Third your argument is out of context. My Point is an assumption. You cant show me figures and tell that the assumption has to be wrong. I can give you an exact example.

If i tell you that you are a talented football player and that if you train hard you can win the world championship in 10 years you cant say after Eating junkfood, Boozing and not training for 10 years, that i was wrong because there isnt a Worldchampion-Trophy standing in your dining-room.

d2 wasnt realeased with modern graphics, modern gameplay and some “buffs” and nerfs to fit the demands of gen-z without slaying the core gameplay of it in 2012, was it?

Well why you misinterpret the whole conversation? No one at all doubted that d3 was a commercial success. People that called d3 a “failure” meant that this game failed to be a worthy successor of d2. If you read my post and check my account you will see that i liked/Like d3 despite it flaws.

No one at all that called d3 a failure meant it in a commercialy way. I wrote that d3 could be even more sucessfull if they used their herritage “better” ( you see I use the word “better”?). I dont know maybe it is fun for you taking statements completly out of context and use them in a totally different Area? Of course it is a way to “win” a conversation if you put statements in where they are undoubtly wrong. For me personally such a conversation is worthless because i am not a politician.

I can give you an example of your own medicine and why such a conversation
is pointless and just absurd:

“You really want to tell me that d4 will be a commercal failure if blizzard doesnt spent like a billion dollar in development ? No sucessfull game till today spent a billion dollar in development. Your point is totally wrong and invalid”

You see where such a conversation is going and why it is pretty much pointless?

PS Sorry for the wall of text of a non native speaker. Must be painfull to read for a native speaker :joy:

Denial at the finest.

Because you claimed that D2 could sold for 100-150 million. I trust the source more than your words.

Same goes for D3 but I guess you will ignore that.

And? Forgotten souls are essential for Reforge which cost 50 forgotten souls. 150 legendaries are too low for those who want to reforge for Primal.

The game is fun and competitive at high GR run. Not the game fault if people chose to play at lower GR.

Last official source has it listed at 14M. D3 last official had it at over 30M before the Switch release. No way it sold over 170M. It would be the alltime beat selling game ever. Which it isn’t.

Right off the bat I’ll ignore this topic cause I thought it was a video of discussion type of feedback or something, apparently it was a “clickbait” material

Relevance of information doesn’t resemble by WHO it was done by, but rather whether and WHAT the information itself was… ESPECIALLY when supposed to “take your word and trust it” when provided ZERO information what-so-ever

And lastly but not least @OP you made 2 mistakes, first one being “crowning yourself with someone else’s feathers” by talking about things with no specific topic what-so-ever, the other is “asking other individuals to take your feedback seriously” when your information itself isn’t at all serious… IN FACT all you wanted is “start a rant” and provoke and not care about any particular topic or feature what-so-ever

You might as well quote Asmongold, Day9, Kripp or MrLlamaSC while at it and the topic itself STILL wouldn’t be relevant as the whole content itself is a clickbait material… cause again the bottomline is:

Topic with a title like this requires an actual video

He calmly dismantled all your points and you reply with that irrelevant garbage? That’s unfortunate.

Dude just google it. Wikipedia lists it as 2nd right after Minecraft. Check the sources attached to it. Tetris has apparently sold over 100mil units on cellphones alone, which to me seems perfectly reasonable.

Link me your results please. I only get 2 results, 4M and 14M. That would also put it above WoW, which Blizzard would promote the crap out of.

Hmm are you talking about D2? Because the 170 mil I think is in reference to tetris.

After i explained what a out of context post is you wrote this ? than lets have a worthless and useless conversation using your out of context technic and ignoring everything what is correct! Are you considering a carreer in the politics ? because it is the only field where such a technic is usefull. In a real argument it is btw harming improvement and devolopment because you just paraphrasing words out of context for the sake of winning a debate even if you know that you are totally wrong.

I like this technic a lot. Maybe you understand it if i just use it against you for the Lols.

[quote=“Kilometer-11340, post:84, topic:11087, full:true”]

Your Source is saying that it is 58 million copies.
““en. wikipedia. org”/ wiki/ List_of_best-selling_video_games → 170 million”
““techspot. com” / news/ 80187-minecraft-may-have-passed-tetris-best-selling-game.html” → 170 million
“vgsales.fandom”. com /wiki/Best_selling_game_franchises" → 140 millions

I gave you 3 sources i could give you much more. Can you give me at least 2 more sources that state that tetris sales were 58 millions? You are Totally wrong.
I call this “Denial at the finest”

Of course i will do because it is part of the technic to denial everything even if someone is “partially correct”. It is wrong to proof why someone is wrong with valid well thaught arguemnts. maximum words should be less than 30 to be as vague as possible. At least you learned the basics of that technique quite well!

Learn the game! there is a chance of 10% of ancient Legendary and primal legenardaries are droping too
( I know that this wasnt his statement but i just wanted to show how wrong such a style of argument is in which you slaughter the whole text out of context)

It is the games fault when farming low lvs is more effective in achieving paragon and loot than the hard difficulties, it is a flaw in game design. It should be at least on par with low lv. 5% more exp but 17% more health? common. 10 gr higher and basicly the same drops ?

P.S. i hate it that i cant link links and had to sglaughter the links

Considering millenials are the generation born from 1980 to 1995, we are EXACTLY the ones who played all the old versions of Tetris though, especially the NES and Gameboy versions. I think you’re confusing millenials with gen z.

Thank you for the correction i really confound it.

The answer to the question is easy…

  1. PoE has free trade.
  2. PoE has super rare items people want to grind for
  3. There is far more itemization and things to do.
  4. There is a vast skill tree.
  5. It’s not cartoony with horrible writing like D3; its themed and sophisticated akin to D1 and D2

PoE is what D3 should have been like. People get excited every league for PoE and it grows every league. Yet Blizzard can’t learn from their success and will bring back the horrible qualities we didn’t like about D3…

Grinding Gear Games knew how much people enjoyed D2. They recognized the qualities people loved. They built a game around those qualities. They recognized there are a lot of people who want those qualities…ergo PoE is a very successful game and continues to grow and keep people around.

What is there to elaborate? D2, like D3, had no endgame when it was released beyond farming the same zones for drops, and just like D3, getting the best equipment took a long time due to bad drop rates.

Well from what I can remember itemization was shallow, the AH inflated the economy so DIII’s endgame devolved into grinding for gold.

The forums were incredibly toxic for years because people hated it.

Most successful players simply flipped items on the AH to cross the original inferno wall.

Hence “auction house simulator.”

DII classic’s endgame on the other hand is very much inline with Lord of Destruction. Grind to 99. Loot hunting, trading and dueling.

I asked you to elaborate because their “problems” were vastly different in my eyes.

Yeah sure.

Trying to spin D2’s endgame as if it were something other than “farm the same areas we played through in the story” would be the same as saying that D3V’s endgame was better because getting through Inferno was far more challenging and you had to farm earlier chapters longer. Most D2 players didn’t even trade or PvP.

I guess there’s nothing else to talk about here. Thanks.

Ok so “Best selling games 2019 Q4” suggests its the best selling games of that quarter. Looking at it again, I’m assuming it means best selling games of all time, circa q4 2019.

I believe the figures, its just confusingly worded I think.

Ok. There is nothing to refute since I am not the one who made the image and I have no idea how and what does the original creator of the image included or excluded or taking things such as time frame into the calculations and statistics when he made that.

And? Reforge is the only way to get the usable ancient and primal for your character if you are not lucky. So yeah, 150 legendaries per hour don’t mean a thing if none of them are usable for your character. Dunno why do you make such a big deal on the 150 legendaries per hour when we need as many forgotten souls as we can get.

Nope. If you want to play at the lower difficulty for whatever reasons, that is your choice. If you want to be competitive or challenging content, you should play higher GR. Simple.

Long time no see. When did you come back from your “vacation”?

There is build diversity, because gamers are sheep doesn’t mean there isn’t.
