PTR Starts 2/6 and additional Thoughts

Why with 7 classes in the game do people only play one?
Every patch gets the same response, just from different players:
“My class was ignored! Again! I quit!”

Diversify, people.

Most of the other classes don’t really interest me, hence why I play mostly one class. That said, even if that class receives little to no attention or gets nerfed, that wouldn’t be enough to make me quit.

Usually only the really really casual players complain most in this forum. Why would you expect most of them to have anything else than a MS DH?

Honestly, your bad. This game offers so many great builds and gameplay variation I can’t imagine just playing one class it would make me go crazy.

It’s the same as playing solo, I can’t understand how people can play solo it would drive me nuts after 2 hours…

QFT.
If there’s no one available I usually just sign off.

That’s because you exist in your own little walled off area in which only you matter and your way is the only way that people could possibly enjoy their hobby.

That’s fine, I respect your opinion. But as I said, the other classes don’t interest me, as such I’m not going to force myself to play them just because they’re there. Same with solo; I play solo mostly because I can play at my own pace without needing to rush nor hold anyone else back.

I suspect that a lot of players would go for the primary powers for their build and then stack every applicable defensive power on top of that if they had nine cube powers at once. I know I would, given how much I loathe the scalar in D3’s greater rifts.

It’s a fairly safe bet that the release of these sets at this time are happening because the art assets being ready lines up with the programming part being ready. At least we hope they’re ready - nobody wants Mortick’s Bracer 3.0! (2.0 was Lamentation and its immediate removal only to be put back in again after massive outcry because the Barbarian community hadn’t seen significant changes in years).

What I wish they’d address with the DH, and frankly every class is the resource regeneration/gain vs. expenditure ratio. I absolutely hate that for nearly every build on my DH I need Yang’s Recurve, purely because of its resource cost reduction legendary affix. The fact that almost all builds use that one bow should be all the evidence the devs need to see that spenders cost too much and generators recover too little. That’s why the Unhallowed Essense set is so popular vs. the rest - it combines resource gain improvements with a sizeable resource cost reduction. That should be baked into the class’ abilities, both generators and in reducing the cost of the spenders across the board.

And I’m not even addressing how weak so many of our abilities are, only resource and expenditure ratios. Things like Caltrops: Jagged Spike having zero proc coefficient still six years after RoS came out and life steal was removed from the game have kept our class a hollow shell of what it felt like in vanilla D3 where we’d explore far, far more builds. I don’t know of anyone that uses traps anymore because they just plain suck in the scheme of greater rifts, especially since the good runes can’t even proc life on hit to keep us alive while we help by using the traps to maneuver monsters for the team.

We’ll have to wait until next season at least to get changes, but hopefully that’s enough time for the devs to see just how utterly craptacular most of our abilities are and how stupendously ridiculous our build legendaries are outside of the few that support Nat’s, Shadow, and UE sets.

And ya just gotta feel for the Witch Doctor players that will have to suck it up and live with the new set dealing with Spirit Barrage…again (they really want out of that skill).

I used to play Wizard when D3 first came out. Then DH, and I even tried the Monk. Didn’t like the WD and Barbarian playstyles at all though, so I kept to the first three. Then vanilla Monk builds were destroyed and the playstyle became too similar to Barbarians and Wizards lost a lot of fun builds so I gave up on that too. Now I play only the DH. Used to love channeling builds for the Wizard, but the scalar nature of RoS makes that a losing proposition. Same for Rapid Fire for the DH. Not enough support items to make that build really fun these days except at lower GRs.

You lost your argument the moment you insulted him. He isn’t bad for only enjoying one class fully. See above for why that can happen to any of us.

A lot of us don’t like playing with others. Especially people like you.

Not a snowflake. I’m just neither social nor do I like being on anyone else’s clock when I’m playing. I like being at my own pace. And as I said before, people like you make me glad I go solo.

That is something I truly dont understand either.

The focus on classes in A-RPGs are disastrous tbh, not only when it comes to balance. The focus should be on fun, interesting, balanced builds. Not the classes behind them.

People can of course choose to player whatever they want. Not criticizing players here. But Blizzard should have a build focus rather than a class focus.
Them showing stats on how well different classes are balanced against each other, while not showing any signs that they care about build balance within those classes, indicates that is not the case unfortunately.
All classes having one build that can do roughly the same GRift lvl, does not make for a good game.

Meh. I am pretty sure playing with random people on the internet is one of the most toxic activities known to mankind.

Just like everywhere, you will meet good people and bad people. The good ones you usually put on your friends list and play more often with people from that list, eventually you might end up in a clan with other great people.

Sounds too complicated for many people though…

Complicated? No, not at all. A more aptly way of putting it (for me that is) would be to say that it’s unneeded.

That’s not to say that I wouldn’t add someone as a friend or that I don’t have anyone on my friend list. Only that running in groups or adding people to the friend’s list just isn’t as much as a priority for me as it is for you.

New Barb set I expect it to a novelty set,we have ww now. Theme though that might take so time to play around with. More options is always good ,im sure it will help lon and lod. Im already thing about hota and eq barb that are locked into a specific build, Anything that opens options is a good thing. Good job classic games.

9 cube powers that would be crazy but sure would have hold players for more than 1 week I suppose.

I guess there’s some cool things to experiment without the restriction regardless.

as for sets I’m not sure why some of them didnt get a complete redesign but they are limited by how much life support are giving to d3 in general regardless…

Can anyone tell me what time the PTR starts. PDT will do I can convert it to Australian time myself.

No, because Blizzard never announce a start time. However, the PTR usually becomes available late afternoon in Pacific time. As an example, if the PTR goes up at 17:00 Thursday Pacific, that’d be the equivalent of 07:00 Friday in Perth.

Ramaladni’s Gift when change? Can we use on rings and amu?

Yup. You’d just end up cubing a ton of filler legendaries for every build. Nems, unity, furnace, etc etc

It’s a little sad for the 20th anniversary of Diablo it’s such a lacklustre Season. Shame.
