Proper reaction to the Reddit Survey (mrllamasc)

You don’t think it would suck to be someone running baal games and you tell players to stay out of the throne room and you no longer get the 6-7 item drops that baal will put out for you solo ?

Why would I ever do public game runs for loot then ? There’s literally no incentive if those items are split between 7 other people when I could just play solo and get WAY more items on my own.

Most bots and pickit, don’t require inside information but work 99% better when they can read it. The same information maphack uses, if you can hide that information better it will neuter them. They can still move around, identify places, identify drops but not before they can see them, either straight screen mapping, or again reading it.

If they actively get rid of dupers, and slim down the bots to the dumb ones, it’s the persons fault at that point if they stay with someone who is clearly using a pickit. If anyone is leeching your drops, or you feel is not adding to the group, you hostile them, it’s that simple, that is the work around.

Why are people in so many bot games they never see drops, it seems like self harm and then blaming others.

I dont think so, i watched the full stream and he is sincere.

I think he would even earn more money with changes, as he would just have to make new guides and new speedruns, that lead to more new content to be monetized.

I don’t actually care if I get 0 items 10 runs in a row.

My main goal with personal loot is to minimize real money bot trading.

I run my own games when I want loot. I am arguing from an economic perspective. I feel personal loot will be better for the long term economic health of the game.

Exactly, it’s like these players want to take advantage and use the bot system to benefit themselves, then still expect to get a fair share of drops.

All I’m seeing is that most of these people want an ‘EASY’ mode version of this game.

Those bots will just run private games then, I don’t see the benefit of changing the core game just to try and mitigate botters it almost NEVER works.

Leave it up to the developers to do their best to stop botters and hackers, that’s the most we can hope for at this point.

I didn’t realize people on d2jsp played the game. I thought they just checked their bot clusters through a website when they woke up to see what their army of paladins collected while they were sleeping.

A majority of people on D2JSP play the game for PvP. I don’t know why you think a majority of them are botting.

Personal without binding will do absolutely nothing to change how d2jsp works. The only thing would be heavy bot protections and duping protections. That is what we all want. The rest seems self inflicted.

Do you honestly think that given the history of the diablo franchise and WoW that bots will not exist?

I do not know who “They” that you refer to. I have played thousands of hours of D2 and I want changes as apparently the majority does.

Private bots would make around 1/3 of the HRs, on average.

Every bit counts, I’m not saying they can eliminate botting, but personal loot would help.

Why would they get less of anything?

If they wanted to they could just program 8 in one game, they can leech the same it just means they won’t have a reason to bot rush people.

I don’t think we can say that for certain, more bots will be running in private games which means more bots will go undetected. This could result in even more bots ruining the economy since they will be as easily reportable/detectable since there will no longer be any incentive for them to host public games with shared loot.

i think they will be ther. but how bad? no ones know… so why take the sorrows in advance. it ruins all the fun.

They wouldn’t do that since running 8 bots solo would be more effective for farming.

I’m just trying to wrap my head around how math changes at all with personal, sure if they had their bot doing baal runs publicly, but they will just make it private or not run them at all.

These same games are easy to identify and ban, again now a none issue.

Sorry man, but I think that’s a pretty low evaluation of him. I didnt get the impression he was just looking out for his personal business interests when responding to the survey. I got his honest feelings about the special fun of D2, which I agree with. To think he’s being disingenuous and only looking out for his pro interests at everyone else’s expense is an incredibly low appraisal of Llama’s character, and a bit of a character assassination.

But it’s normal to try to damage an opposing voice’s credibility as a tactic. I truly dont see it as valid with MrLlama, though. His authentic enthusiasm for D2 as a whole game is very apparent.

Exactly, public bots are much easier to spot and ban. Avoiding them is also not difficult to do.

If we’re talking economy then focusing the devs energy on having more banwaves and detection is far more important than ruining the game for people that actually want to enjoy the game.

Because the name of the site is literally the name of a framework bots operate on. JSP stands for javascript parser. The site began as a way for botters to share techniques and trade items. It has always been a haven for botters, cheaters, and dupers. It’s the seedy underbelly of the Diablo 2 community. They are trying to “go legit” now and removed a lot of the hacking/exploit stuff but they’re basically like mobsters that own casinos.

Well and change it for reasons that are easily avoided, or other reasons where it actually boils down to d2jsp and botting, which we all want out, and again personal does not help with (in the grand scheme of bots).
