Possibly more bad news for Diablo immortal

Taken from “Not-DI” subreddit :

From what I’ve seen on other posts, it’s because the mods of the account forgot to swap to their personal account and posted with the public account. Also the post in question was asking why hasn’t pooh-bear(xi) resigned yet.

If they’re getting people to throw thousands of dollars (some tens of thousands and some even hitting six figures in some mobile games) into a entirely pointless virtual casino, they’re clearly taking advantage of people. The customer is a mark and Blizzard is acting as a scam artist. It costs them next to nothing to provide the virtual goods they’re selling to people beyond the initial development costs. The entire system is a massive manipulative farce. Not only is it virtual gambling, but it’s a gamble in which you have zero possibility to actually gain anything with lasting tangible value.

We don’t let people legally sell any number of self-destructive drugs. Most casinos have policies to at least turn away people with gambling addictions if they’re known. Gaming companies are essentially getting away with selling legal virtual crack AND intentionally using manipulative algorithms to target and take advantage of people with addictive personalities.

Did they though?
Here is the quote of what they said:

“anchored around” sounds a lot like they are trying to keep a loophole open

exactly this. Thats typical corporate talk, carefully choosong words, vague on purpose, not clearly ruling out selling power in some capacity.

They will 100% sell power in some capacity, pay extra to empower rifts, pay extra for a chance to receive extra bounty cache, pay extra to increase chance to rank up gems etc.

You can’t buy gear guys! You can just buy gems which provide a multiplicative stat boost and other effects for your gear!

yaaay another “if it’s on a smaller screen then scamming people is ok” person!

Blizzard is counting on the hopes that were all idiots that cant see through their legal double talk regarding their game shop items

its all semantics and most people are not falling for it

Yeah, gems arent even a separate system from gear, it directly affects/upgrades your gear. The statement is not just misleading, is it simply false.

Just wild to read those takes.

but Blizzard would NEVER lie to us theyre not motivated by greed are they?

It is still amazing how many people are claiming D4 will not have any pay for power mechanics. They are clearly using wording that can allow for them to include them and be able to come back and pull a wyatt and say we didn’t lie.

Now maybe D4 won’t have any pay for power but right now it seems pretty obivous they are testing the waters with DI. Blizzard only cares about making money and are going to see what players are willing to pay for and balance this against how many players they will lose having systems like this.

And yet even though it’s illegal they still get sold

Please show where I can get this crack that you are claiming you can get

And they can get away with it because they aren’t a Casino, they make games
If you had any idea on how businesses work you would know that if it isn’t expressly made illegal it is legal
Remember the Immoral slave Labor the Confederates used once upon a time as a free workforce until it was made illegal

I didn’t say that, thats the way the mobile market works and unfortunately until it is made illegal it’s legal, Thats the way the system works

This is a perfect example of something not being illegal but also not a good thing.

As clear as mud since it will be based around… you should look at the wording.
Which can mean anything from having a few items on the side to having the MTX have a couple of little bonuses to help get the sale.

I will be laughing hard if the game is banned in China due to P2W.

The fact the mobile market is saturated in scams is all the more reason to address this, not accept it as if it’s just a force of nature. It shouldn’t be accepted there or on PC.

If DI ends up not releasing in China. It will be great news! This p2w scam must stop and this shouldn’t be the direction game design are headed.

It won’t be banned due to being pay to win. That’s a staple in Asian territories, including China. Aside from developers possibly overlooking visual assets deemed offensive in China, the most likely thing that would prevent D:I from releasing in its current form is the gambling aspect associated with the legendary crests and gems (the gems acquired are random and cannot be targeted).

I saw in a recent stream (forgot which one) there had been a reaction from that lead developer that they do plan to talk about the shop in the Q3 update and he would even discuss with the team to bring that forward and that on twitter he could not do the subject justice due to character limits.

If true we will know well in advance what will be in shop and they at least seem aware we want clarity on the subject. I am willing to wait for that update before going into a rage and keep options open, though to be honest I do suspect a bit more as just cosmetics. Well if true they have at least almost a year to defend it, massage it in and give reasonable sounding reasons why they will fit.

It worries me quite a bit that they think they need a blog post to explain the shop.

“We wont sell any power. There will be no P2W” should not need a whole blog to post.
It sure makes it seems like it will instead be a lot of “Buts and ifs” trying to “explain” how their P2W is not truly P2W, since chest pieces in Sanctuary are not considered gear according to barbarian traditions.

The developers did not say that only cosmetic things will be in the game.
