Paragon Cap is Appalling

By far the biggest positives are

  1. No longer does a character get all the bonuses from paragon at the same time
  2. No more endless power gain. A real and defined endpoint to the characters journey.

On top of not being able to spell the word properly, I’m not even sure you know what “appalling” actually means. If anything, keeping this hamster wheel system in place for some 8 years is the appalling part. They should’ve introduced a power cap of sorts all the way back in season 1, though at least there was a soft cap of sorts in place to keep the zombies in check back then.

Damn it does have 2 Ps. I thought it looked right.
Blizzard is an appalling company. I dont think you know how appalling they actually are.

Would the playerbase be willing to have power creep toned down?

Now competition will be based on who can mindlessly grind more bounties/fissures. Cheaters/no lifers will still have a distinct advantage as they will still have the Primal trifecta squirt, the perfect Primal main weapon/offhand, perfect Primal ring rolls, etc.

How so fair?

I am going to have to put in several hundred hours to get top end gear pieces, the guy using the script is going to have to put in several hours. Cheaters still win as they get a much higher rank per actual time invested.

Gimping paragon so low doesn’t just affect cheaters, it affects legit players too. Legit players actually get hurt worse as they lose the sense of power progression once they hit P800. The cheater doesn’t care because they aren’t playing.

Punishing players in a sad attempt to curb cheating is a bad idea. Ban the cheaters.

I dont feel punished with the cap
In fact, the ceiling makes me feel like now i have a chance against other legit players

And botters, cheaters and exploiters arent the reference for anything but banwaves

Exactly. Putting up walls to try to mitigate cheaters which also affects legit players is a bad idea.

And you always had a chance against legit players. I play legit. I hit P3500 this season and last I checked I was on 39 different solo LB’s. Think I have averaged just under 3 hours a day with very, very inefficient play.

The cap does not change very much. If you do not put much time in, your gear is going to suck and you still won’t rank, or rank very high. Paragon is important, but it is not the end all, be all. You still need the right rolls and those don’t come easy on several pieces of gear.

Now you may be fine with Bounty Madness, grinding all season to hopefully get that one upgrade, but a lot of players need that small semblance of power progression. We will see. S28 seemed like it was the most popular season since “Themes” became a thing. I get a strong feeling S29 isn’t going to come anywhere near it in popularity.

But the paragon ceiling isnt a feature that tries to punish/solve some bad behavior and anyone whos seeing it that way didnt fully understood the proposed change

The paragon cap is a proposed change to the meta that aims to reduce the relevance of extensive xp farm when it comes to the power fantasy

Not really
But thats another matter bc my main complain was about group Vs solo and they are “fixing” this with ssf
My take on the paragon problem has always been to cap the xp gain, not to limit the paragon, to make gr100 the ceiling of xp scale for grs
But capping the paragon is better than nothing at all

After adjusting the game mechanics over a period of years to accommodate absurd amounts of paragon they’re going to cap it at a relatively low level. I’m sure there won’t be any unforeseen negative consequences to that.

That is not a distinct advantage, with out a huge gap in paragon points. Even their progression is going to be halted at a point, that is going to be easyer to catch up to.

Or it is a way to curb cheating that they are constantly hounded about

Or it is to tie in with SSF, so there is not a huge disparity in the LB positions

Or it is because they put ideas from the Forums on a dartboard and that is what came up.

None of us were in the meeting when they decided on the Cap, so it is all speculation.

Actually you do.

Like I said, I ran the season very, very inefficient. Except for bounties, I ran over 99% solo. Never ran speed 4man GRs. Any grouping was with a friend or 2, more or less goofing around. Wasted a lot of time helping others with Conquests, power leveling, etc. Spent the first 2 weeks getting on the Achievement LB.

I don’t bot. I don’t use THUD. I averaged just under 3 hours a day. I made it on as of about 2 weeks ago, 39/42 solo LB’s (I don’t have necro DLC). Most of those 39 I am in the top 500, many of them I am in the top 200, several in the top 100. Subtract off the cheaters and my ranks would go up probably 50-200 spots.

I actually have no problem with a cap. My problem is the cap is wayyyyy too low. 3000 would be much more optimal. It would give most players a reasonable carrot to chase. Designing your game around uber, super casuals is not a good idea, and, yes, even a uber, super casual could hit P800 in 6 months.

My season will be over as soon as I hit the Achievement LB. I’ve done my share of bounties. Infinite grinding of bounties is boring game play.

Skill…skill…skill. This is what some of you guys keep saying. Diablo game is always about mindless grinding.

If you guys actually care about skill, how about go to play a real game that requires skill like dark soul or even better, a true PVP game where you guys can fight against skillful players and climb into grandmaster leaderboard?

Might as well just ask Blizzard to give you guys P800 the minute you guys login into season 29.

Seems someone doesn’t remember there use to be a Cap on paragon of 100 back when the game first released…and nobody was whining then about there being a CAP to power. The minute they made paragon infinite is when the game got stupid. No Arpg should have an INFINITE power creep. Capping power creeps is always a blessing. Now I DO AGREE with the 800 cap. It should be at least 1600-2k max. I would even be fine with 1200 …but 800 is too low IMO.

I’m sure that the cheaters without game knowledge will be weeded out by this. But there are also cheaters with game knowledge, even tho they will have less paragon and the playing field will be more leveled, i will be curious who will end on the top. On the PTR there were already previously known botters/cheaters still rk1 by a big margin.

We’ve had a 100% absolutely fair competition for years at this point.

They’re called Challenge Rifts and every single player on the same region gets to play with exactly the same hero, exactly the same abilities, exactly the same runes, exactly the same gems, exactly the same gear, exactly the same paragon points, exactly the same map(s), exactly the same mobs and exactly the same boss. They even have a leaderboard for them. You can even play the exact same thing time and time again, for an entire week, to perfect your run. The differentiator in execution time is skill.

And almost no-one cares about them.

Players care a lot more about improving their hero’s power.

The problem with those is the random useless builds they choose.

If they’d take a top 20 clear from the leaderboards , a lot more players would engage in those challenge rifts.

As it is now, only the bounty mats in the cache are a reason to play those builds of some braindead player that has no clue about the game.

As opposed to a pretend game?

Just to be fair, there was no paragon when game launched, it came later.

hate to burst your bubble this makes far easier now for botters lol. they already hit max gear.

most botters were rocking 90% primals 1st week or two.

this will just make it impossible for non botters and non No life streamers.

This only does more harm to actual players lol. plus most botters went to D4 with how much easier it is to RMT now on it people are making tens of thousands a month off that crap over there on here they did not have a lot options beside boost…

boy are people out of touch.

offline mode needs to happen and just shut the dam game down most moved to D4 or POE

No you wont they will get real you aint playing 24/7 they are thats issue is they can still out progress you look at the dam boards on PTR lmao not single player just bots as they are laughing at blizzard. when a bot can run distinct between what legendaries to grab and primals etc as well as running 5x more rifts then you…

you really will never win. bots for D3 are curently the most advanced outside POE/D4 they even auto store what legendaries you have selected in the whitelist. D3 bots are insane but hey gl lot of us will be laughing when you eat your own words and realize you just got bent over in s29 and taken hard
