The idea with:
- Army of the dead increases (…) Army of the dead damage by 3000% for 20 seconds
Was to be able to cumulate N times this bonus. Like a recursive loop, limited in time. Like Corpsewhisper Pauldrons does, but based on cooldown. 6 pieces bonus means Army of the dead cooldown is reduced by 20%, plus 30 minions attacking 50% faster having 50% to reduce cooldown of Army of the Dead and Land of the Dead by 1 second each time they deal damage. Paired with other cooldowns game has to offer (obsidian ring, Lerouge, …etc.), that should do the job.
Unlike mages, nova or bone spear, Revived Creatures are not directly boosted by any 1 handed or 2 handed Scythes. Revived Creatures surely can be boosted, with Skeletons, as a side effect of the Jesseth set. But you cannot use any phylactery (damage) while equiped with Jesseth. Also, you cannot really use Nayr’s Black Death Poison boost while equiped with Jesseth, because poison skeletons tend to make themselves explode. So this is balanced.
If you compare to a 1 piece item, Bloodtide Blade, making 400% per enemy, let’s say 10 enemies x 400% = 4000% damage, it appears that (2000% + 4000%) for a 6 pieces set is not a lot.
If you compare to Legacy of Dreams, 9750% damage, (2000% + 4000%) is not a lot.
The real damage comes from Army of the dead as explained higher.
These new mechanics require to maximize cooldown in order to trigger N cumulative damage layers of Army of the Dead. The result on the screen is a constant flow of Army of Dead, doing more and more damage over time, each wave also boosting your Revived Creatures and Skeletons damage, at least while you are able to sustain your cooldown. #CooldownAsResource
With or without Thorns, it should be fun to play.
