It’s not even a pet. Doesn’t pick up gold. And it’s a less-than-useless blue amulet. No one in their right mind would use it.
it’s not about using it, it’s simply about having it our in “collection” of rarities.
Some further (very small sample size) analysis…
25 runs.
7 runs with no spawning of the area at all (whole map checked)
18 runs had the area spawn
2 of the 18 area spawn runs had the unique monster spawn
no drops of the ammy
So, a 28% chance of the area not spawning at all.
72% chance of area spawning.
8% chance of the unique monster spawning.
0% chance of the ammy dropping.
100% chance of a SINGLE item dropping from the unique monster. Neither of the 2 times moontooth spawned did he drop 2 or more items - just a single item (varies from magic to rare). I know others have reported multiple items dropping from moontooth, in my experience, he has not ONCE dropped more than a single item for me (and that’s from now just under 400 runs). edit: let’s assume 8% * 400 runs for moontooth spawn, which is around 32 spawns. None of those spawns have resulted in anything more than a single magic or rare item dropping.
I’m not understanding the 72% chance of area spawning. The rubble spawns in several alcoves, and the various alcoves seem to appear every single run. So, are you saying the rubble appears 72% of the time or the spawning alcoves because I see the alcoves every single run. I can see the 8% spawning of moontooth though, he spawns every time there’s rubble. 400 runs is really bad luck. I run it a couple dozen times after I hit guardian and get 2 or 3 amulets. I’m either really lucky or you’re unlucky. It’s one of the easier blues for me to get. Wirt’s original leg takes quite a bit longer than the neck.
Some of the “rubble” you’re finding is the usual, breakable objects that are found in the game. You can tell the difference: From a distance, mouse-over the rubble. If it highlights in red, it’s a hostile breakable object. But, it is NOT Moontooth Dreadshark’s “hiding place”.
You’ll know if you encounter the correct rubble when you can mouse-over it from a distance and it does not highlight in red (it is not “hostile”). Only when you get close enough to it will Moontooth break out and attack you. He does not always drop The Murlocket.
I usually find him on the far (monitor) right, near center or upper right corner.
Maybe running on normal level to increase the chance of blue magic find.?
Game Difficulty has nothing to do with the drop rate of The Murlocket.
The Murlocket is a Level 45 item. (And it’s a Magic item with a Legendary Power).
(Friendly tip: You should read the previous posts before replying).
72% of the alcove appearing. Typically, there are 2 of them on each map - 1 may contain moonshark. 28% of my runs, there was ZERO alcoves spawning. And yes, I checked the entire map.
the spawning alcoves. For me, they did not appear on 7 of the runs AT ALL. Entire map checked on each and every occasion.
I guess we’ll see. I’m on console, and I strongly suspect that the RNG spawn/drop rate on consoles is FAR WORSE than the PC version of the game. Several YouTube videos tend to show that moontooth spawns roughly 50% of the time - if that was the case, with 400 runs, I would have had 200 odd moontooth spawns. I’m obviously nowhere near that. Not even remotely close. I’m not good at probability maths (could never wrap my head around it in school lol, despite finding calculus easy), but I would concur that I am very unlucky. Over thousands and thousands of GRs, with lgem level ups @ 60%, I am far closer to 38% success, not 60%. On T13 rift farming, there’s supposedly a 1 in 4 chance of getting a 3rd key drop (kind of moot now, since I obviously farm on t16 these days), I was averaging 50 runs before I’d get a 3rd key drop. That’s a far drop from 1 in 4 (25%). I have long suspected that RNG on consoles is not random, but pre-determined for the life of the game install upon initial install of the game (so, if you pre-rolled bad RNG at initial game install, you’ll get bad RNG for the entire life of the game unless you reinstall the game). Of course, in that scenario, if the pre-determined RNG seed is embedded in the game save, a reinstallation will not fix the issue…Blizzard has failed to answer this question about RNG seed on console in the past…
