Since it’s all but confirmed now that S22 will be rebalancing sets via CM’s comment and the new sets came in both not close to top tier thus without any switch up to the metas and the theme is just a bad version of S19, sad to say I’m much more hyped up about next season than this one.
It’s not a skipper, I’ll play it but just disappointed with the response to feedback in the amount of time we got. I just don’t get how literally everyone can say a set is severally underwhelming in power, tried and tested then hardly anything is done about it. Not being overly negative here, there are still some really awesome item changes coming this season, just being honest here.
Might be a naive hope, but fingers crossed that these changes in season 22 will be spread across all classes, not drip-fed to us like the new sets have been over the past seasons
That’s honestly how I’m expecting it to play out. A major balance attempt that’ll span across multiple seasons. Of course, I could be wrong (which I wouldn’t mind tbh).
If they tackle a few legendaries/sets from each class each time, but it takes multiple seasons to tackle everything, I wouldn’t mind that so much. But if they do, let’s say, only Crusader/Monk gear in season 22, Barb/WD/Wiz in season 23, etc., I’d be a little put out. I’d far and away prefer each class gets at least a single set and supporting legendaries addressed each season.
I think you’re probably right, I strongly doubt we’ll see anything of that scope. A tune-up to some existing legendary items that need a bit of love wouldn’t go astray though.
I’m definetly hyped as well. Honestly hate that it took this long but glad to see blizzard and D3 devs are still looking to keep D3 alive with the next season’s (S22) overall balance patch. Glad to see that they have plans to look into numerous class sets/items for better balancing. All those underperforming sets/builds may have a chance to participate/contribute in higher GR levels in Solo and Groups! Very exciting.
My guess is that years ago they reduced the damage of a lot of skills because they got tired of all the “OP” cries for nerfs. So they nerfed them all to shut people up and then brought back the power by adding additional items. Wyatt had an interview where he explained this strategy of just adding more support items to adjust the power of skills. Of course subsequently, what happened is that they went into maintenance mode and could no longer make enough items to restore the power of the unused skills.
They may try an across the board re-balancing of the skills, in which case you may wannt to keep the sets at about the same level to prevent outliers.
Nice, I called that one right. I wouldn’t expect many item changes, though, just sets. They don’t want to break LoN. But this is just a guess. I don’t expect much these days; most patches don’t even get the minimum on balancing. Or didn’t.
I see your point, but as a DH fan, I am very hyped for season 21 (not to mention that it starts in one week, while season 22 will only start in more than 3 months )
