Majority of Players

Where does the majority of players reside? I loaded up the game yesterday looking for public games. I think I saw 2 people playing on the entire server. Game dead?

For the most part, yes. Most have moved on from the Diablo franchise for a multitude of reasons.

To be fair, S19 is almost done. So not too many people playing right now. I would say, a lot are on PTR testing out the S20 theme and the class sets.

The first month of a season is the most active after people reach whatever play style level that things slow down for progression considerably it tends to wean interest from the game. Thats usually at about 6 weeks. So instead of 3000 in a community you’re down to about 30 now 2 weeks to the game end. If you revisit the game you find bit quite busy early march after season 20 kicks off.

All the above… and also, there’s a good chunk of solo only players who don’t open their games to public.

There is actually people I notice that play in a offline mode later on also (privacy). It’s why you see offline users shown who aren’t part of the community owners clan. Don’t want to be bothered by chats, or invites.

S19 is boring as hell. I did take a break after I finished the seasons journey. Play some everyday now in non season…

Once S19 is done, people will play again for the start of S20.

Did you find the theme what made it boring rather then seeing how well you played? As soon as I saw the playstyle change to centered around that its when people started to leave.

Also bots and trolls.

I’m playing my Switch copy a lot more as I don’t have to worry about lag. I can play a hardcore character and only have to worry about screwing up.

You won’t find many in the seasons at this point as the season’s run is almost over. You might find more in non-season, but only at T16 and most likely only in games for Greater Ratrace, maybe regular Rifts for keys.

You should see a short burst of player increase at the start of S20, at least for a couple of weeks before it’s back down again.

I play solo and seasonal. Have the max # of stash tabs so don’t even do the seasonal journey anymore. Dislike grinding rifts and bounties. Quit S19 in late Dec after I hit 1000 season achievement. Playing a little D2 offline and some hearts online. Doing a bunch of jigsaws online.

Not even. There’s always players. Always.

A LOT of people are on the PTR.

What’s a “real player”. I played season 19 am I not real? Am I a figment of someone’s imagination?

S19 is nearing its end, most people who played season have most likely stopped and are waiting for S20.

With the PTR still running, a lot of people are there.

I assume the OP is playing on T16. It is after all completely pointless to even look at the lower difficulties at this point.

Everyone is playing Diablo 2 LoD, there are a bunch of games there.

I reside in a house on a street. :house: :house: :house:

Now you know why “players active / games active” information is hidden compared to D2?
Imagine I’m playing only HC… its even emptier

If you’re looking for open, public games, it doesn’t matter if there’s 1,000 or 1,000,000 other players in private games, because you can’t join them so how would being able to see how many players are online help?

So what’s a “real” player?

I would agree with that assessment. Usually play several builds to boost the chance that you are able to get a good combo before augmenting as much as possible. It’s frustrating, because there is always one or two items that just don’t roll great. D3 is home of the grinders!
