I demand the game plays itself, so I don’t miss anything at all. Ridiculous how my loot is being robbed of me.
Is it no longer possible to pick up stuff, move somewhere, throw some of it back down on the ground, return and pick up the rest?
The reality is this: undetectable loot filters are going to exist whether or not blizzard implements an official one.
Wrong, it’s fair because both players have the same tools at their disposal.
When a High Rune drops in Diablo II, the color is orange and easy to not miss.
And now D2:R also will have Auto Gold Pickup, It’s easy to clean everything If you have It enabled.
And people who talks about “I’m being robbed”
No one owns the item before someone picks it up.
If you cry, that’s another sad story. You have more chances to grind and this is not the only chance you got. You could also play Single Player or Private Games.
Normally I’d agree with this, but not in a remaster. You’re giving new tools, which gives an advantage to players that do not care to relive nostalgia as much as a person who would be disadvantaged by this new system.
For that reason, I do not think a loot filter should be implemented, ever, in D2R. D4? sure.
dont we have eyes??? the runes used to be the wonderful color as every other normal item. now they have color already made easier ;)… no need for loot filters or even pillars of light similar to D3.
Loot-filter seems like such a reasonable idea, a no-brainer decision to add to the game, but it’s just one of many things that are hard to put into words how it really affects people. At least for me…
I use a loot-filter in PoE, what an amazing option I thought, but I can’t really explain it, it feels like it’s taken something away. It feels dry and sparse, not like I’m used to. Maybe there is some very minor and simplistic joy we get from seeing loot everywhere like a pinata exploded even if we don’t realize it. The small effort of looking through loot hopeful to spot something good. I think it’s a quick high, if you will, even if it seems annoying.
Not a big deal to me weather they add one or not though.
Spekkio, you’ve made a really good point. Speaking for myself, I am confident that an aggressive loot filter that only shows valuable items would take a chunk of joy away and we wouldn’t need to pay much attention anymore. I would rather have shortened items name or increased number of item displayed on screen.
Wrong, you’re assuming access to a tool means it’s utilized in the same way. The game will necessitate different uses that will result in unfairness based on a variety of factors, most of which are outside the players own control.
I won’t expand on this because it’s fairly obvious and to elaborate on all the various instances would require more typing than I’m willing to commit to.
A loot filter on ploot is ideal and desired.
A loot filter on shared loot is inevitably unfair and undesirable.
maybe they should add beams from the floor for runes and uniques like in Diablo 3~
I’ll take anything at this point but if I could simply filter out health/mana potions I think that would go a long way to getting rid of the clutter.
Just because one of the players is too stupid to properly utilize the tool doesn’t make giving people the same tools unfair. In your worldview, fairness doesn’t exist.
Look, you still don’t get it. That’s okay, I’m used to it. It has nothing to do with intelligence of the player. And no, fairness does exist, but its never achievable, our goal should be to approximate it to the best of our ability. Perfection also works in this way, but I digress. You’re wrong.
You don’t get it, you’re wrong.
The reason I know I’m correct and you’re wrong, is that my reasoning has already worked through,
and found it incorrect. So in my mind your main argumentative point has already been cast aside for a more robust practical theory of how this “tool” would work in actual competitive gameplay.
The reality is, because it’s shared loot and competitive ladders exist, there will always be individuals who don’t get “lucky” with the drops, and therefore have more items activated on their loot filter. Through no fault of their own, when loot drops, this puts them at a visual disadvantage versus players that only search for a few items (usually players focusing exclusively on a few items).
Since build progression varies greatly with luck, this would double down on players already suffering from bad luck.
In your mind, a loot filter is just a tool for everyone to use so it’s “fair”.
In my mind, a loot filter forces those who are further behind in progression (and builds) or just unlucky to suffer a significant reaction disadvantage versus players who are luckier with build completion or are just farming specific gear for currency.
Good job, you baited me and I spelled it out. If you can’t internalize why this is extremely unbalanced then that’s on you.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again:
Nope, you’re still wrong. Both players have access to the same tool, one chose to use it incorrectly. Two people are hungry. I gave them both identical sandwiches. One person ate the sandwich, the other threw it into the river. How unfair.
Oh, I’m not as far along as you so let me just leave every single piece of trash unfiltered on my loot filter. What?! Oh no, I’m blinded by small gold piles, potions, low quality undesirable white items, etc. If only I had properly utilized this tool which functioned properly despite my stupidity and chosen to filter out this trash I could have seen then item I wanted. How unfair!
Okay then, how’s this for a closer approximation to fairness: You don’t get any loot filter because because Blizzard decided “it’s unfair to give players the same tools because some players are stupider than others”. So now that there isn’t an official loot filter, I go and write one that will never be detected because it’s applied on the network layer. You have no filter at all, I have a filter.
You didn’t read a single word I typed. I’m outtie 3000.
Read it all, you’re wrong. If both players properly configured their filter then the difference in screen clutter between them would be so negligible that you may as well complain that the games not fair because characters are occupying different x,y coordinates. Really you’re just too lazy to properly configure a loot filter to begin with, and forsee a garbage explosion and the player who took the small amount of time to figure out the filter gets the item instead of you.
Perfectly valid for any non-remastered game. I would expect any completely new title to have a loot filter in 2021.
Definitely not in D2R though.
And since ploot seems to be the way of new titles, I say bring on the filters. The more options the better.
