I know some people will argue that the ability to discern good items through the clutter of loot is part of “the skills”, but if you’ve done some 7 or 8 players Lower Kurast runs, you know you can easily lose HRs (or charms or other valuable items) in the middle of the junk (even though their text color is orange) regardless of your skills.
I don’t know if widescreen and ultrawidescreen resolution will help by showing more items on the screen or not. (Do you guys know?)
Auto-gold pick up will help reduce clutter, but I would also like to have common items name shortened, such as HP1 to HP4 for Health Potions and same for Mana Potions. I know Blizzard said they would not allow a loot filter*, but item name shortening could be a compromise.
Yet another reason to include an official loot filter
I’ve made the suggestion in the past on the old forums about prioritizing what items appear first when showing item labels. The labels for less common items like high runes, unique and set items would always show regardless of how many potions, gold piles, scrolls etc. are in the same screen area.
Auto gold is going to make a huge impact, because gold is the most common drop.
Item prioritization would be even better than item name shortening as it is even closer to an actual loot filter!
I agree. We need a loot filter or simplifying the names of potions e.g.
If auto pick up gold is on, the txt for gold shouldnt even show up in the mix of things imo. Gold is a lot of the txt clutter.
This. Auto gold pickup is going to make things much easier in this respect. It might be premature to add a loot filter - not saying whether it is useful - but it may not be needed.
I have an easy solution about this:
Use your eyes and double check you didn’t miss anything else.
I have never had any issue anout this, and I have played Diablo II for years. . .
This is only a complaint for some who want Loot filters.
Since auto gold is on, how hard will it be do walk over the items, clear out all those gold drops and relook at the rest of the drops…
I’ve got a better idea guys.
What if you turn on a loot filter, and just have it auto loot it off the ground, just like the auto gold pickup. That way you never have to actually stop your speed running carpal tunnel inducing gameplay to see what’s on the ground, and you just check your inventory at the end of the run.
Oh - and what if your inventory is full, why can’t we have it just auto loot directly to your stash in an overflow catchall. Instead of it being the shared stash, we’ll need a new overflow stash tab, for all the items we’ve listed in our loot filter.
… … … this post is made to illustrate how if you give an inch, someone will come along and want a mile.
No need to automate everything
Increased resolution should help you see more on ground if I had alpha i would of tested this.
Paradox, what if you miss stuff all the time and don’t even know it?
Losing High Level Runes all the time? I strongly doubt will happen.
Just use your eyes like everybody else, then your fine
At least you wont have bad feelings if you missed something you didn’t know about.
Just have Auto Gold enabled. I recommend to have it on, easier to see what objects falls on the ground
Sounds like you got to play the alpha, any odd things you see that hasn’t really come up yet?
Yeah, this was one of my reasons for a loot filter. Sadly, a lot of people were against it. They think it adds to the difficulty of the game or something.
I don’t know if you ever did LK runs or not, but if you did you would know there is so many junk that a lot of items don’t show up on the screen. Double checking won’t help if you can’t see it. It just feels broken.
Since mods changed the color of runes to Orange text, Blizzard copied it.
Thats about as easy as it needs to get for finding runes.
They’re talking about when they’re literally hidden due to the limit on # of items on the screen. It’s like when loot isn’t shown in the cow level due to so much clutter on screen that it actually hides some of it until you move around.
yeah an editable one we can code ourselves and make it personalized would be amazing
this is a pctur of the filter i use in path of diablo
