I survived the skeletons, killed 50 mobs, destroyed the jar and took the loot… But the bounty won’t complete.
It’s a known bug.
The first thing to do when you do bounties, if this quest appears, it’s to (try to) validate it.
If not, relaunch…
This is why the stickied How to Write a Good Bug Report thread says…
- Please use the Search feature to search the forum and see what bugs are posted. If you have a duplicate thread, we will lock it and point you to the current thread where the bug is being discussed.
There were 17 threads on this already…

Or perhaps the small indie company could just disable the bounty if it’s known to cause so many issues. Basic competency and all that. I didn’t know about this bug till just now so I (and the 3 others in my game) didn’t know we “should have checked”
Or just understand that you play at the 9yo game, and sometimes, bugs append
Have fun and just take care at this quest
I have never had an issue with this Event. And I’ve been playing D3 since its release.
In vanilla D3, we didn’t have Adventure Mode, but we had the Jar of Souls Event. I don’t know how many people are playing D3, but why would Blizzard disable an Event (or Bounty) because 17 players (out of how many) are reporting it bugged?
(Just sayin’ )
I have seen it one time out out of the hundreds of times I have run it.
I suspect the reason they don’t simply disable the quest is that the error is very rare. Personally, I’ve only encountered once.
Additionally, a possible work around exists. Reports indicate that rushing to destroy the jar is what triggers the bug. So waiting until all the adds are dead, waiting a second or two more, then destroying the jar seems to prevent it.
