It has been hinted by those streamers that were involved in D2R Reign of the Warlock, that this years Blizzcon will be big for Diablo fans.
Considering that D2R just received a new character, D4 will receive the expansion in April and it’s still too early for D5, chances probably never were better for D3R.
Release next year would also coincide with the 15th anniversary of D3.

Yes, and it is not a minor detail that one of Blizzard’s executives recently said that millions are still playing Diablo 3. Fingers crossed..

These guys are great when it comes to hype and fail when it comes to living up to that hype. Personally, I would be surprised if there was a D3 remaster announced given how long it took for them to remaster D2 after the D2 team was disbanded. That was 15 years.
But if there is enough money to be made who knows. A D3 remaster would be ruined and insulted if they release a MTX infested kiddie marketing sales tool like D4.
If D3 remastered has microstransactions then I won’t buy it. Not now that we know that Jeffery Epstein was a friend of Bobby Kotick and was involved with the implementation of mtx in Call Of Duty to “indoctrinate children into economy”. One can only guess what other things in Activision Blizzard’s practice have been coloured by Epstein’s agendas.

This is true. This is one of many reasons I do not watch streamers and shake my head whenever someone references them, especially when they take what they say as gospel.
There are some caveats to that. It’s not the same team that was there so many years ago. It’s newer people and the company is learning that some gamers like certain things… case in point, D2 still had tons of players, so they figured that a remaster only makes financial sense. And now, it’s more popular than D4.
I don’t think a D3 remaster would be as night/day as the D2 remaster. That game was originally created with a different aspect ratio, pixel engine. D3 was created already with a modern aspect ratio and engine. I can see improved models and additional content.
Despite what people like Kilometer say… thinking that MTX are the best thing ever added to the Diablo franchise, true gamers who do not play games to be in a dress-up simulator do not like MTX. If they wanted to create a more authentic experience, they would leave MTX out. The aim is more for D3 fans, so adding MTX would only make most of them say “Yep, hard pass”. And you can confirm this with how many went to D4 and then did an about-face not long after.

Worse case scenario…
- Diablo 3 remaster will have battlepass and cosmetics store shoehorned in.
- Graphics reworked to be darker and grittier and won’t feel like D3.
- Original D3 servers shut down just to force everyone to migrate.

Paid BP is a no go. I already paid for the game. I shouldn’t have to pay a sub or pay for a BP to play a game I already paid for.
Cosmetics shop is totally fine with me if and only if there is an opt out for any and all ads, reminders to shop at the store, links, crap I have to close simply to log in and play the game, etc.
Ya, as much as I wanted this in Vanilla, it wouldn’t be the same game if they change it. Any new content, though, (like a new xpac, dlc), should have the darker, grittier, you know M rating, that D1, D2, D3 ROS has.
While it wouldn’t surprise me, I believe they still have the original D2 servers up, so hopefully they won’t. If they do shut down the old servers, they need to 100% transfer all your stuff from the old version to the new version or I will 100% not buy a D3R.
Even more worse case scenario than the above is….
- They add P2W MTs like Immoral
- They add a sub
- They don’t fix many of the glaring issues still with the game
- They bring back Jay Wilson as the game’s lead
- Then they doubled it.

I was thinking Warcraft 3 and what happened when reforged was released. Luckily D2R was handled better.
Yeah, it’s over a decade of progress they would be erasing for many of us. Would piss me off losing all of that. At least with D2R, I could use my old D2 character saves and they worked.
Maybe they’d implement an offline mode for D3R and allow us to download our D3 characters to be offline mode… and hopefully no save slot limit in offline mode. I mean, nobody plays NS anyway… could just make our interactive trophy cabinet be offline and we just go online for seasons

Yeah, I had WC3 and it disappeared. 
I still play OG D2 LOD on occasion. I’m glad they didn’t take that one away.
