Yet here I stand, unfased.
Checks out, for sure.
Your fragility sure does buddy
Says the person jumping into other threads desperate to rustle support? You sure? Yikes.
The fact you are trolling multiple threads says everything about you actually. But sure, act surprised when people take notice! You are the victim after all!
Why did you enter this thread in the first place? Want to bump all the threads I post in to try to rustle support for your “cause”?
I was reading a thread and saw you trolling. Of course in your worldview it’s all a conspiracy against your innocence.
Scintillating contribution to the thread. You are truly rustled - sad.
At least you were consistent and strawmanning here as well. Applause
Indeed, you troll’d first the OP’s other thread by saying “op cries baby” or something.
I see on Aristotelian a guy which do not want the game he played for years be changed because Diablo2 is too hard for casuals and randoms
Your ignorance as to the use of the term is consistent with your ignorance elsewhere. Indeed - at least you have that.
This person gets it. But those folks are too caught up in the ‘if you don’t let me force options into this game you’re forcing me to play the game [as it has been for years] your way’.
It’s sad.
Making up fake arguments people never said to attack

Reading threads is hard, so here’s some help:
Resorting to lying now, too? Don’t backpedal - you can’t escape your own posts.
Okay Lumpus, I’ll bite. Here goes my one reason:
To explain it we will have to go through a typical experience that could happen to any player (especially if not playing with friends and/or having VoIP comms with them). You see a game, Ploot activated and they’re running diablo and baal. You join the game, there’s 5 people in there. You are the only Amazon. Four out of the 5 people are noobs because most “purists” who know the game very well play on FFA mode. You would love some IAS gloves / javs with +skills etc. but the 3 sorcs and pala that are running with you will ignore all of that most likely. They are looking for valuable items in general or for stuff they need. With no loot filter you have to process a large amount of information when running mf runs quickly, I can bet you those guys won’t think: “Oh an Amazon just joined, better look out for good gear for her that drops for me.” In FFA games it frequently happens that some white/grey base is ignored by most players but someone needs it. If you do timed allocation it’s very difficult to choose the correct timeframe. Two seconds is for sure too short as a player standing closer to a monster could snatch it before you even clicked there. Five seconds or more would work but would dramatically slow down the speed of MF runs because of constant loot popping up and people looking if they need it.
All in all, it sounds so nice and practical in theory but I doubt any of you actually thought this through to the end.

I stopped at this point to ask, why did you join a game with ploot if you don’t like ploot?

I would agree that ploot is not what you want to run if purposefully doing MF runs. I would probably never use ploot in any game that I made. It would just slow down the game too much for how I like to play multiplayer games.

Agreed. The time for allocation should be on a slider from 1 second to 10 seconds. I would probably not join a game with a ploot slider set any higher than 3 seconds.
The ploot argument for me isn’t that I want it. I do not. I do see a need for some people to have access to it.
[edit] I absolutely appreciate the time you took to form a viable argument.
And stop flooding forum with nonsenses like “nerf teleport, remove enigma”
Not saying those should happen. (too big a change)…
but, they would be good changes.
Ffa is part of the charm of Diablo2, when everybody see the same drops, and everybody running/teleport and try to get the items. It’s the charm.
That is totally fine! I can respect that view. More of an argument in favor of FFA than against Ploot though. With a toggle you can still very much have that experience.
And what about Ploot ? you see 1/8 of the items, so almost nothing. Nothing to talk about, no good pressure when a good item drop on the floor, the pleasure you have to get it.
Everyone should see all items. Plenty of possibility to talk about it.
History has shown that humans derive lots of pleasure from gambling. No reason to expect it would be different with winning items through ploot.
Worst : timed allocation, so everybody wait 5seconds before moving their screen.
Nah, mot items will be picked up instantly, just like in FFA. If a high rune drops you are not going to risk waiting to pick it up until the last moment. You will just pick it up. People wont have to wait.
And the worst of the worst thing : Account bound items will be next.
Strawman
diablo2 is hard
If there is one thing D2 is not, it is hard.
D2 is a great game, but it is also a fairly easy one. Heck, that is a major part of its success.
I can bet you those guys won’t think: “Oh an Amazon just joined, better look out for good gear for her that drops for me.”
True. but they also wont think that in FFA.
You cant make these people care either way.
The reason I am for Ploot(I wasn’t before) is that farming in Diablo 2 has always more or less been a solo experience even in multiplayer. What I want Ploot to do is encourage 8 player farming groups where loot allocation is not a problem.
Diablo 2 is a great game but we see a lot of the same builds. Practically nobody mains a support class like a shout barb or a passive aura paladin and finally the Oak sage stun werebear druid.
Items like an SOJ takes close to 1,000 runs on andy to drop. Yes you can do all those solo but that experience is pretty the samey the whole time if you are by yourself. Adding other players to the run will add more variation to farming runs which would make them more engaging and interesting. That’s what I want to change. Farming to transition from a largely solo experience to a group experience.
Ploot is coming in future
If you don’t like it FFA will still be there for you
