I was against Ploot. I changed my mind

But d2 is not even close to a RL economy. Its not a good idea to use the same models because they wont work. Thats like shoving a square block in the circular hole. Its a game economy. There is no such thing as finite resources. The only thing a game’s economy needs is a healthy and growing player base for online. If farming alone is just better. Then there is just less people to play with.

So… to extend your logic… why not just give everyone level 99 and every item in the game right off the bat? Would that be a good idea?

Surely if everyone having more items is a good thing… and regular economic practices don’t matter… then everyone having every item must be the best thing, right?

First of all I’d like to say that most people do not go through 1000 runs in order to find any of that stuff specifically, they do mf runs and trade items they find for what they need to gear their characters. It could be that you do not know all the items which can be valuable, and are not looking at/picking them up.

Secondly, if you want your own loot then make private games or play with friends. The game doesn’t need to change because you don’t have friends.

Third, that’s exactly what the “random online players” will think of you joining their game, “oh no here comes someone to leech our loot drops”.

I really don’t think you’ve put much time into D2, and doubt you would manage 1000 runs.

I have never said anything about giving people level 99 off the bat. XD
Seems like you are fear-mongering at this point.

The way people want ploot on here to work is that it doesn’t alter the drop rates or quantity of items. Your version would go against that.

This sounds like a terrible idea. Please Blizzard, don’t do this!

I’m just doubling down on what it seemed you wanted. You want more items with less effort… so I’m trying to see where this goes in your mind.

You also missed a good chunk of my post there with your quote. If, as you’ve advocated… having more items in the economy is a good thing… why not just give everyone all the items immediately? Would this harm the game?

Yup, I brought a unique idea to the table. Many advocates against Ploot is that its not a shared experience. So there is my 2 cents on making it more of a shared experience. If the drops are terrible. Then everyone gets equally terrible drops. If they are good then everyone gets equally good drops.

Even Thomas, who posted asking for a pony to ride around on, thinks this is a bad idea.

Let that sink in.

Ah. The first one goes.
There gonna be thousands of “Please, x8 item drops!” soon.
And yes. If personal loot discussions continues, we will end with this version for sure.

I’m sure you’ll get called out for this, but in one of the many other ploot friends one goofball wrote “I don’t make friends in games”.

The idea of finding players in pub matches that one adds to friends lists, or joining a clan, or a community…I mean - who needs that, right? LOL

Nope. My whole point is farming alone is better if you want items. So nobody really farms with other people. All I want is to make farming with other people more viable than doing it solo for 10,000 runs.

I think you are putting too much focus on a suggestion for how ploot can work than the actual point the OP is about. Which is to have a more engaging online experience.

It already is more viable you get more drops with more players silly.

For us it would (people with basic social skills).

For those who want to effectively play with NPCs (other human players have absolutely 0 impact on their gameplay), ploot is a true comfort.

Truly a clown world.

i was against ploot, im still against it … lol

But it isn’t. Farming in a group is better if you want items.

Weird. That whole decade of D2 where I farmed with other people extensively must have been my imagination.

This.

Not really true because if a Ber rune drops. Only one person can get that ber rune. So if youre a sorc and you are farming solo. Your chances of picking up that ber rune is 100%. If you are with 7 other people then you have a 1/8 chance of picking it up. Kinda a big deal since those almost never drop.

The problem with that is it’s gonna make good items less rare. I don’t think you’re gonna get much support for that on here.

if you are solo you have 1/8 the chance for that ber to even drop in the first place silly, it only dropped because you were in multiplayer.

I don’t see that as a bad thing. I’m also not afraid to have my own opinion. No shame in that.
