theres nothing outdated except that “drag “items” into your chest and from that into your inventory thing”. And they changed this already.
For me all the other mechanics are quit good.

Gamble refresh too. Talking to npcs and exiting their menu was pretty lame.

I enjoy playing the original, But I would love a graphical update for modern times. Is it so wrong to want that, We kept the game alive, and we are the reason it is being remastered in the first place. Why SHOULD it be changed .
QOL / Bug fixes are fine so long as they don’t alter the Feel of the game but to change the systems beyond that it should be a different title all together.

I guess people don’t have an understanding of English. IT’S A REMASTER NOT A NEW GAME. Diablo 4 is coming out, have fun w/ that. Stay out of D2, the legendary RPG hack n’ slash that is so great people still play it.

You mean mods people still play mods… just like the remaster! Oh look d2 yayyyy fun… two weeks later GHOST TOWN! Brand new shiny Mod… playerbase returns enjoy your two weeks of a populated game I mean with people not bots =}! Then… well no Qol , class balance , toxic purists , ffa loot etc etc ghost town it happened back then I fought you ppl you won the game died! Fast forward to the future

The mods are ghost towns too. They pick up at the start of each ladder, then die again. By the way, ranting about the same thing in multiple threads is a violation of the code of conduct. Be careful with your agenda and insults.
Who’s toxic? I mean, beside you, of course. Most people on here seem pretty civil to me.
I recommend some of you take a step back. All this speculation is setting up expectations and pitting people against each other unnecessarily.
People should just expect a remake of D2 and not much more, since that is what Blizzard has promised. If we get something more it’s just a bonus. I really doubt Blizzard is going all in on a 20 year old game.
But don’t mind me. Continue name-calling over this remake if it helps you.
Sorry but this is being sold as a remaster, not a remake. It’s been explicitly stated by Rod Fergusson that this shouldn’t be referred to as a remake.

On playing Project Diablo 2 - I can confirm that I really do like the charm inventory. I did play median and a bunch of other mods, but project Diablo 2 is what Diablo should play like after 20 years imo. Hopefully they just open it up to mods so that I can play that on the D2R engine, because the original D2 Inventory management was baaad.
Don’t really care for personal loot as loot drops were really part of the experience, but take that with a grain of salt since i basically solo self found or paly alternate heroes with a select group of friends.

I don’t see how that changes or adds to what I said. I’m at a loss how that contributes to this at all, honestly.

I finally looked up remake vs remaster and yes, “remaster” is more inline with my point, anyway. I don’t know why but to me “remake” seems like it would imply they are literally just remaking the game, but I guess remakes are more often subject to changes than remasters as they can be remade… differently.
Yeah typically remakes have more drastic changes, though as I’ve said in different threads there are obviously semantic differences here and everyone has different views on what constitutes a remake vs a remaster.
Ultimately, I think Blizzard should do both. Keep the standard 1.14 realm as-is Balance wise, and go as crazy as they want on a separate realm, remaking a bunch of things as the community wants, maybe based on surveys.
If Blizzard is dead-set on only having one realm, it seems obvious to me which should supersede the other.

I’m really not expecting this… and still don’t think it’ll solve anything. I would play on the “modern”/updated realm, and then I’d just get some changes I like and others I dislike. And then maybe I’ll come here and complain and everything would be the same.
Funny and sorta ironic that this was just posted in here. Not that it proves I’m right but still… my point.
Btw, the context that you added these quotes seems like you are telling people who don’t like them making large sweeping changes to items and skills should go play the original game, which I think we’ve agreed is as poor an argument as “play D3” is. If that’s what you meant, fine, but that’s how it reads contextually, fyi.

It is a poor argument… an unreasonable expectation, and something I don’t see Blizzard doing without backfiring. This is sorta my point with multiple servers though too. The idea of a server to “go crazy on” seems nice and reasonable, but I see it being more work for Blizzard. Telling people to go elsewhere when they enjoy something is essentially punishing them. It’s a trade-off, a sacrifice. Are people going to be confronted with these decisions? I guess we’ll see. I’ve already accepted the fact that there’s a decent chance I’ll have to play with something new I may not like or have to get used to, always fun to try and think about it from Blizzards perspective though.
Yeah I expect things I don’t like either. I’m being as vocal as I can, the same way I was when d3 was announced.
I was right then, Blizzard made poor decisions, and I knew it would turn to crap those first years.
I hope they listen this time.

Your game is a game of bots and the same people who killed and kept this game dead! You the purist are the reason for D3! D3 should have been an expansion to d2 adding and end game balance new classes all sorts of QOL! Gah 1500 playerbase telling the millions who left this game in the dust what it should be! You killed this game 15 years ago you refused anything and it died I am doing everything I can to not hAve history repeat but your stuck in the past you clearly don’t want d2 to be successful at all$ I pray that the Devs make major changes and ignore the purist it’s for the best 1500ish ppl and a billion bots don’t get to tell us we left this game And miss it daily but playing a dead ver 1.14 isn’t going to keep a playerbase or your game relevant maybe in 10-15 more years they will remake this game and do it correctly and ignore the hell out of you and I’ll be back pounding my chest how right I was
