I don’t find it fun that barbarians have been massively behind the other hero classes for years and on the one occasion where they might get even slightly close (not ahead, just close behind) they get hit with a nerf-bat so they remain many, many GRs behind the others.
I love how my Whirlwind Barbarian plays. I hate how ineffective he is compared to my other heroes. Can anyone give me a good reason as to why I’m not allowed to play a Barbarian that’s both fun and effective, which is what the original PTR Rend changes did?

- Little testing I assume but he still got a great first floor. +1-2 levels with a better second floor and power at guardian?
- He didn’t have ancient shoulders - by augmenting he would get around 1.5%-2% more damage. Other than that, his gear is what is expected from 10K paragon - perfect
- Very hard to say something about optimal build since there isn’t one yet. He didn’t have FoT which in a superb rift can get you 2 packs from 2 floors. +1-2 levels for optimal build?
- A lot longer than all of us combined together. 10K paragon, has said many times that his favourite class is Barb (charge) and all his 4man videos is zBarb PoV. My educated guess is that his kiting and grouping skills as barb are far superior to everyone here. Not much gains from this aspect.
In total, and we are being generous here, +4 levels? And we are ignoring the fact that, despite getting good mobs in first floor, he was squishy. At 10K paragon. Survivability might put a ceiling to the build, a fact that is ignored in all predictions
Star pact cleared 148 in China. Necro 147. In EU wizard 145 with 2 minutes to spare. With the incoming nerfs, Rend might (and this is hypothetical) achieve parity by keeping lamentation. Once again, predictions might be way off - in a game with layers upon layers of RNG it’s hard to make better guesses
Lamentatin must be 400% to give 10GRs, which is the required amount to put wwrend into an A category build

You forgot the most important thing → super high ping from EU to PTR server (darkpatator is EU player). On live he will have 30-50ms (instead of 250ms+ on PTR).
Bazooka clear 148, if nerf stay as on Blizcon, than will be 7GR (this would be good nerf)
Necro will have big nerf and maybe not able do GR140.
Chant. Vyr Wiz. 145 on life (10k+ paragono), nerf will be 3,5GR (whole 3,5GR, best clears with Chant. is without Squirt and fixing Squirt will not help; fixing Squirt will help for speed lower tiers, but not for max push).
WW rend potencial before nerf around GR144-GR145, 7GR nerf.
Than we have after nerfs:
- bazooka GR141
- Chant. Vyr GR141-GR142
- Necro maybe less than GR140
- WD GR142
- DH GR140
- WW rend GR137-GR138
- Crus? (GR138 now, with new set?)
Obviously 0% on lamentation is overnerf. Need only the same nerf as Chant. → -3,5GR (or +3,5GR after nerf). That is lamentation to 71%.
Lamentation 200% → 100% is 3x to 2x modifier → that is -2,5GR.
-2,5GR will be still ok and Barb could be closely on top with around GR141,5-GR142,5 clear
And with lamentation on 400%. That is 5x modifier. That is +3,2GR over first PTR iteration (200%) and it will lead to GR147-GR148 clear.

Before you throw numbers around thinking a 400 percent modifier is too much. The player that pushed has an insane amount of paragon points and gear, which should be taken into consideration.
But compared attemps has the same amount of paragon and perfect gear.
He is on first position on EU NS with both Barb and Wiz. Than comparing his PTR clear with his EU best attemps is not bad.

I agree and wrote the same thing in the same previous post. It’s very possible that seasonal barbs may have to replace MoC in cube by Aquilla, which is an additional ~1.5 GR loss.
Pre nerf lamentation would have put barb at the same place than post nerf Chantodo wiz, maybe 1 GR more, 2 more at the utmost.
Post nerf Rend Barb is anywhere between 5 and 8 GR less than post nerf Chantodo Wiz.

What Felix posted is ridiculous. The build will be just as much fun if it’s 3 or 5 or 10 GR stronger? Are we supposed to settle for +3 GRs so we can clear 133 while every other class but Monks can smash 140? What?

No. That attitude is not welcome. It should never have flown for as long as it did, and now that we finally got some worthwhile buffs, it dang sure does not.
