How will Diablo Clone work in D2:R

I’m against almost all change suggestions people have offered up which make the game easier, but this is one I agree with. Keeping the requirement as real SoJs sold is just an homage to design stupidity and failure in my mind. It will just keep annihilus generation in control of dupers and item stores. Because of bnet 2.0 infrastructure, leaching off of them by hunting hot IPs won’t be possible anymore either. If it’s a truly global spawn, then maybe these problems will be mitigated.

so an anni is worth 1 soj? I dont think this is good for the value of an anni and I think it needs to be much harder to get.

No, needs to be better. Like POD , collect all organ sets, have uber diablo drop soulstone, then have key of chaos drop very rare chance from baal. Combine in cube to start Diablo clone hopefully they make him harder. something like that anyway so much better in modded versions of D2 Hopefully blizzard learns from them.

I made a thread about this a few months ago. All I can say is:

DONT DO IT WITH LESS SOJs!

The intention was not, to make the DClone spawn expensive or to make people have a hard decision, whether to hold on to a good ring, or to have the chance, that a DClone spawns. The only reason was, that thousands and thousands of duped SOJs had to be destroyed, because they were duped.

The SOJ destruction was solving a problem and at the same time served as a way to spawn DClone.

This time, I would take the same route:

  • take a problem with D2

  • solve it, by marrying it with a new mechanic to spawn DClone

One example would be:

Every day, 5 random unique mobs are promoted to key wardens. (1 per act) Farm 5 keys to spawn DClone. It works a bit against the monotony in the endgame of D2.

Pod already did an amazing job with this. You need to collect organ set, then the diablo soulstone that drops from uber diablo, and the key of chaos drops random in maps. Combine in cube open infernal teial with Dclone who is much stronger and has huge army with him, its much more challenging way more intense and fun. Makes ubers look like a walk in the park. They just need to do something similar, ubers and dclone way to easy as it is.
POD nailed it, so much more fun and challenging then ubers. Blizz could
make it where it really really hard solo better with group or something.

Pod did a pretty crappy job on dclone, and I certainly hope VV does better. PoD isn’t a very good mod, and I hope they take very little from it.

Pod is great and extremely popular Pd2 is also good. Your clearly a purist, outside of pvp PoD is far superior to 1.14 much more builds and old item reworked to actually be useful. I dont get the POD hate its the most popular and great d2mod ever, pd2 is getting very popular. I will always play PoD as well i think. still very much diablo 2 bigger stash and more diversity.

You must just suck at D clone in POD, its fun and every season new builds needed usually.

The only way I’m a purist is that your grammar is atrocious.

Also, pod and pd2 are just simply too easy, as well as making the itemization ugly and distorted. The balance changes on both are terrible, in some cases making Necro laughably easy to do everything in the game. Also melee splash is lame for d2.

Those mods are soon to die. A superior game is afoot.

Buddy, you’re the one in denial, thinking the mods don’t have bots. Lmao.

You literally just said there were no bots or cheats as a reason they’re better…

Nonsensical post is nonsensical.

ur trolling again, there are no noticable bots cheats or hacks yes. Some try to cheat probably its d2 i can not deny that. not enoigh to get noticed no one wants t get banned . Get a life man, ur a purist andhate mods we get it move on. morepeople playing mods these days bnet is dead nthing but bots your in denial think otherwise

back to dclone spawning…

I don’t hate mods, I’ve played dozens of them. I just feel they aren’t as good as the original.

Each of them are fine to play when you’re bored, but they don’t retain the same playability as the real thing.

Back on topic. Dclone should have a random element to it, much better than in the mods. And preferably SoJs involved.

i think quest better , random fine too long as we can fight him. hes way to easy that needs work as well

I think, Bosses in D2 should generally not have that insane regen and no immunities. It just makes it impossible for some builds to fight them.

Also, they should just have e.g. more diversity in minions and some aoe skills, which you have to dodge manually.

Otherwise, these fights are pure gear checks (and build checks), but easy, as soon as you have the right build or gear.

But I think that’s stuff for content, which may or may not come in the future.

For the DClone, clearly PD2 did a good job imo and I hope, the spawn is different from selling SOJs.

What if the server itself was in complete control for dclone spawning?

Working model here:

Say the server randomly selects hell dif games to spawn a dclone in, which only ever happens very rarely.

You can still dupe, it’s just that dupes are no longer perm, but unperm sojs can walk DC just as good as legit found sojs

im sure u can, but most of the methods have been patched, and IIRC its a lot harder to do. not to mention sojs arnt worth much so if someone was going to dupe they would be duping some perfect role RW’s or bugged items, or even the anni’ itself not SOJ’s.

which again means that the amount of duped soj’s has dwindled to almost nothing

Diablo Clone will work like it always has.

The original D2 devs (aka Blizzard North) designed the Diablo Clone event as something that is very rare. The more you play, the higher your chances are to stumble upon Uber Diablo in the world.

IP hunting is essentially cheating.

The Annihilus Charm is not meant to be an item that is accessible to everyone, it is an end-game item for those that play A LOT over a VERY LONG period of time.

The reality is that the Annihilus charm is not a mandatory item at all, it is a item for those that play a lot and/or get very lucky. This is working as intended.

With the transfer to modern battle net infrastructure, I really hope the charm becomes again as rare as it originally was intended to be.

Thinking that everyone is entitled to an annihilus charm is just pathetic.

One of the major reasons why D2 is so awesome and such a cult and iconic game, is because the best of the best items are ultra-rare. It is possible to play for 5 years straight and not find certain items. This is the best part of Diablo 2.

I am not sure if I was just lucky or not but I’ve found every single item in the game several times. I never counted how many Zod runes or Tyrael’s might armours etc I found over the past 21 years. I also played on Battle.Net exclusively in ladders by the way. No Singleplayer mode and no cheated open battle.Net BS.

This current D2 ladder so far I found 5 or 6 native Ber runes, 5 native Jah runes and 1 native Zod as well as everything in between (except no cham yet lol), and this ladder season is only 5 weeks old. (native = native drop aka not upped from lower runes). I’ve found like 15ish+ Sur runes etc.

I completed my first Enigma 4 days into the ladder, not sure what people are whining about. If you know what you’re doing its rather easy. Was I lucky with drops? sure, I suppose so, but not much more than any other ladder season before this one. I definitely felt a huge jump in HR drop rates since they buffed the drop rates in the 1.13 patch, it felt almost silly at first how often HRs dropped compared to before 1.13.

Long story short, no, casuals and noobs do not deserve the best items, PERIOD. Start playing the game and invest time, effort, knowledge and patience if you want the best items or go home.
