Do I hear a dig at OWC in your tone?
I’m actually having a blast with it.
Though I think you are correct, a D3 “classic” that gives us release version D3 wouldn’t be a game worth playing. D3 as it currently stands is in a great spot. And like I said above, all it really needs is some more polys in the menu models and a pass on the menu assets to make them sharper on 4k monitors.
I think if Blizzard makes Diablo 3 Resurrected, it should be an update of the current D3, without a new engine, to maintain the loading speed, they should improve the 3d models, balance the game, expand the content, try to take it to new limits with t20 or gr200, with all that the game could leave maintenance mode and they could even add things like Season Pass, cosmetics shop, maybe increase the number of players up to 8. This should be the time to work on it and they shouldn’t wait until nobody plays it anymore or until it becomes unplayable due to the logical passage of time.
Actually no. I don’t know enough about OWC to comment.
when they resurrected D2 and made it D2R they did not fix anything but the graphics , because the old schoolers would not have liked it. in D2 or D2R much of the inventory is taken up by charms that turned into affixes in d3. in d2 i have to decided between what charms to pack on me to get full benefit or trying to only pick up loot. so many times i dump the charms to make room to run cows or baal or diablo but not really help out just so i can pick up more stuff to sell . also potions take up so much space at certain times in d2. so i doubt they would make a lot of changes to the game if they did.
They did add some QoL changes like the stash/shared stash but D3 has that. Only time will tell.
Over time though, they did make changes and additions.

This is 100% wrong. Alter of Rites is a gift to the players to let them have all the power creeping possible. They put a gift tree and a player can get every node in a certain pattern. During this season we were told the effects will last forever as a last hurrah which we had 2 of them. This season lasted for over 2 months up until D4 came out. Once season ends all players who played that season will reap the rewards for non season.
The Devs made an outstanding effort by listening to the most crazy ideas to have them put into the game. Mobs dies so fast allowing players to climb so high in GR ever before.
what are you talking about?
Are you reminiscing about the season when AoR was originally released and what didn’t happen then? But why use future tense in that case?
Or are you talking about current season?
You are talking about d3 and not d4 (I haven’t touched that one), right?

Reread the post above you. Since you were not there as this happens I will tell you. Players who stay at the time of alter of rites were told when D4 comes out D3 will be no more meaning all of the players got 2 crazy power creep buffs to celebrate during the season. They told us it was the last hurray for D3 because during that time they believe all players will go to D4. The season lasted more than 2 months and I’ve played until D4 came out.
What happen overall is some players were left on D3 while the rest went to D4. Bad launch for D4 made many players coming back to D3. This put the devs in a weird spot due to this they kept the seasons for D3 going. I may got certain details wrong but that’s what I remember. As it turns out by reading the forums I learn seasons continue and found out the buffs didn’t carry over as they said.
they should just make this a D4 expansion, they can market it as a time travel game. Go back in time, to an era where Diablo was in Diablo, where leaderboards track everything and the stinky pit maps are replaced with proper GRs

D3 in D4, now that’s a wild idea.
What happens to your D4 character when you portal into D3?
I picture it as a gateway option where you change difficulty levels.
It’s recommended to play normal on first play through. I agree as hard is like normal when you take end game items in from the start. Thunderfury from level 1 is sssssshhweeeeet!
Thanks for the elaboration. As you said yourself, I hadn’t been around back then so I didn’t understand the details. So do I get it right now when I assume that the AoR was promised to become available in non-season as well back then?
hail satan !!! hail satan
