Help me decide season 21 start class

So for years I played only the wizard. Then when the expansion kicked in I started to expand my horizons and played Crusader for several seasons, and eventually added in Demon Hunter and Monk. Season 20, for the first time, I played Witch Doctor, and she’s my first char that can do GR100’s like a stroll through the park.

So next season… Do I try Barbarian? Or do I start with a Demon Hunter for the new set? OR… should I lay down the cash and support Blizz by buying the Necro?

With 5 posts this I gather means your post is as a new player?

Considering how cheap the necromancer is as an add-on, if you like the game, it’s a good addition.
Some people suggest getting to level 70 is fast with the Necromancer. The Demon Hunter new set is good too.

The Barbarian, Crusader and Monk are tankier than the others to start so, in the end, it still comes down to what YOU want.

EDIT: I think the DH Shadow set is the next season which is one of the faster sets to do GR level 70. As soon as you have Karlei’s and Holy Point shot with it, it can do Greater Rift 70 straight away.

I’ve been playing D3 for years, just haven’t posted much since the new forums kicked in.

Think of it as a fun “poll”, with me asking “Between Barb, Necro, and Demon Hunter which is your favorite to play?”

Don’t mind Avalon, that’s what happens when you spend far too much time on the internet. You get triggered by the slightest things, like people breathing.

I personally aim to finish the season as fast as possible, so I’m sticking with DH. Not interested in ranking = 100% worthless.

Each season represents something new to try, I been watching the Necro and DH sets, Necro Leaderboard ended up with most just playing LoD Necro’s not so much the new set at highest lvl’s. DH seems to have open up the play style a bit. You have a fast bounty, farming, and rift variations. So what do you want? Play something everyone else has experience with or something new that might be interesting? yeah that crosses off the barb, it ain’t new.

PS shadow is like the easiest build to do a season journey quickly.

You’ve done a great job of that.

Demon Hunter’s new set is powerful on PTR. If it doesn’t get nerfed it’ll be fun to play.

Demon Hunter’s starter set is shadow. It gets buffed next patch with the holy point shot quiver. Google season start + upgrading rare 70 weapon.

The shadow DH has a 50/50 chance of getting their weapon, Karlei’s Point, when you upgrade daggers in the cube.

(Craft a yellow lvl 70 dagger at the blacksmith, and use your materials from the challenge rift to upgrade rare in the cube).

Shadow is one of those builds that will carry everyone else the first weekend of the season and you will be loved!

Wizard is my favorite class but I’m definitely going Demon Hunter next season. Shadow should be an awesome start.

I’m also really looking forward to trying out the new set as well as a LoD/Rapid Fire build.

A. You should definately buy the necro dlc. It’s worth it to play a new class!

B. If you haven’t played Barbarian in awhile give it a shot. They have recieved some great buffs in the past seasons that make them a great all around class for just about anything in the game.

Enjoy! You can’t choose wrong - you can always try something else.

Why so salty? If you don’t like the topic, just stay away. Sheesh! Well at least you get some hearts from your alternate account

I think Molaram nailed it. If a topic triggers you then maybe just stay away?

Cheers!

Ok I think I’ve decided. I’ve never leveled a Barb beyond level 14. I’m thinking I’ll start with him and run a Demon Hunter as the second class mid way through when I get some paragon built up. That new set just looks so cool with it’s steam punk theme.

I might just save the Necro for Season 22 unless the twirling from the other two make me too dizzy!

Thanks for the help everyone!

DH is a decent option, since it looks like Shadow is the starting set. Levelling can be a bit slower on DH, but once you hit 70 and get the first couple journey chapters done, Shadow makes for a really quick start to get up and rolling in higher difficulties.

Wizard starter set is Firebird’s. Firebird’s is an absolutely miserable starting set, I definitely wouldn’t recommend wizard unless you just really love the class and couldn’t imagine starting with anything else. Unless you get some lucky drops, you’ll have a pretty slow post-70 grind with wizard before you’re up and running in higher difficulties.

Starter set list:

Barb: Might of the Earth
Crusader: Invoker
DH: Shadow
Monk: Sunwuko
Witch Doctor: Jade
Wizard: Firebird
Necro: Inarius

From that list, DH honestly looks pretty solid to start. You’ll get up and running very quickly with Shadow, and then you can farm the pieces and transition to the new set pretty quickly if you want.

I remember one season I was killing the guardian monster kill in so many secs requirement of seasonal journey. I killed it the first time instantly. D3 didn’t register that I had accomplished that. So I restart the game, go to the same place wait like 5 seconds then killed it in one shot. Then D3 gives me credit. Sometimes shadow is too efficient.

DH will be the absolute easiest to get started with. With the significant buffs to Primary legendaries, along with the fact that those legendaries can and DO drop often at low lvls, combined with Shadow set just being stronk and also easy to get weapons for, it’s incredibly likely you’ll be halfway done gearing up as soon as you hit 70, cruising through T13 an hour after hitting 70, and pushing GR 100+ a day after hitting 70. Combined with the fact that the season buff kills everything FOR you and that it’s quite possible to see a 3x DH 1x monk 4 man meta next patch, DH is the class to play.

DH will have the easiest time getting to GR 70 and unlocking primals, but getting a fresh DH to level 70 without help or a PL is probably the most tedious class to get there. Shadow is great. It’s fun, tanky, super easy to gear and powerful. It does have some drawbacks. When it gets really powerful, you’ll 1 shot everything making you run out of hatred constantly, so you will have to swap out some gear to lower your damage, so enemies can get impaled more than once without dying to recharge your hatred. That being said, it’s not a great farming class or bounty class. GoD will be the best at both. I’d argue GoD will be the best in the game at bounties and solo speed GR’s.
