[Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20)

Love the guide and the learning in this forum. I have a question about what to roll on my primal Little Rogue. It has Fire Damage, Str, LPH & CDR, a nice piece.

I’m Seasonal 2274 Paragon and trying to push GR127. Should I:

  • keep LPH and change Battle Rage to Into the Fray? it this worth not putting on 10% damage?
  • roll LPH off to 10%
  • roll LPH off to Area Damage
  • or roll off fire damage to straight damage (is that considered physical?)

or something else?

Thx

ohhhhhhh!!! and a shield pylon to boot. So sorry :frowning:

I watched your video and it was very amusing!

My advice would be to fight in more density. The yellow at the end of Arreat I would have skipped right away.

The two blue packs at the beginning of first fester I would have dragged into more density. You spent a good amount of time fighting two blue packs with no trash. Good that you scouted the entire map after spawning the condi, but when you dropped the pack of blues near the exit I almost died!! Same for the yellow when you brought them up.

Also, never take speed pylon as ww rend if you intend to play the map. It really messes with your pulls due to the knockback cc. Save it for RG so you can stack stricken faster via the attack speed buff.

That ending was just a bad date. You’ll find another fish soon enough =]

Ouch that hurts bro. I’ve had that happen too, stings for sure.

Good news is 127 ain’t so bad for P1600 and you should be able to get it down in short order with a few minor tweaks to your playstyle.

  1. As Seras pointed out, you need to group together bigger packs of mobs. I would say aim for more than double the size of your packs from that run - way better economies of scale that way and you won’t have to spend as much time gathering. DENSITY IS KING! The easiest way to do this is to just explore more map and lead them back. Over time they’ll all follow slowly. Secondly, I think you should use more spear - in your packs you’re leaving ranged mobs and stragglers on the perimeter. That’s all density you could be dps’ing - spear them all in!

  2. Be more cognizant of your COE cycles! It doesn’t appear to me that you’re attuned to your phys cycles, but rather you’re just DPS’ing when its convenient for you. You’re wasting a lot of DPS that way. You only get so many in 15 minutes and each one is PRECIOUS DPS time. Do most of your gathering and “setting up” in between the phys cycles. Once the lightning hits, ground stomp towards the end to group everything up tight, and then on the phys you should just be dps’ing and hard casting.

  3. Plan your condi’s carefully. That condi you had was perfectly positioned - doesn’t get any better than that on Festering. I would have uncovered the whole map (easy to do on Festering) and pulled all the elites to it. In your case, you had another yellow Jug (which you wasted a lot of condi time killing as a single target) and then that ghoul pack at the end before the exit.

LPH to Area Damage.

Move your current Slanderer (which already has 10% built-in) to the Main Hand to maximize the dps on your hard-cast rends.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Last night i was ready to quit season 20 right there and then. But after calming down I could see was absolutely hilarious it was.

Will defenitely try to work on your feedback. I had a feeling that “more density” was gonna be the main feedback I would get from the barb experts.

Here’s a good example of a guy who was in the same position as you on Festering with the ideal Condi spawn and how you wanna play it. He walks you through his thought process and decisions throughout the video so it would be beneficial for you to wanna watch the whole thing.

Thanks Blayze, i just watched Rax´s clear. I like how he explains his thoughts and decision during the rift. It´s so much more entertaining than just watching someone clearing it, and you learn a lot more.

I had the same considerations about the conduit pylon, but made the wrong decision. I decided that it was gonna take me too long to pull that blue pack halfway across the map to be worth it. Mostly because i dont trust my spearing-abilities enough. Instead I was hoping that i would have enough leftover time on the condi, to run to that pack afterwards and zap it down.

Anyway it was all moot, because of the tragic ending of my run. But i guess the lesson is just how important the spear is, and to take your time on pulling and gathering everything by the condi.

So I used another 150 keys last night on 138 attempts. I think I will save my 138+ for next era. Had a lot of great maps with almost all bad trash and terrible pylons/locations. Best one of the night was a fester with a perfect power spawn. Killed all the trash and elite fors 70% progression. Then I get sewers and condi spawn at the door. Just absolute disaster but I moved on and killed one elite and a bunch of trash with the condi. I then get x2 caves. I proceeded to kill the RG to see how much time I would need as a test. Finished in 18 minutes total. I did not see one fester or battlefields with fatties or swarms which I desperately need. Guess that’s why very few have cleared 138 NS.

Hey, fellow Barbs. Dropping by to say congrats to all who crushed their goals and did better than they thought they could!

While I’m not very active these days (finishing a PhD takes up a lot of time), I do stop in every day to read through requests, help out where I can, and catch up on your accomplishments. I’m very proud of the kind, helpful, and knowledgeable community we’ve developed here–this forum is a true community endeavor, and I’m grateful to be part of it.

As a small but important aside, I want to encourage all of you to take some time to be mindful of current events. Many thousands of people all over the world are protesting against racism, police brutality, and other systemic problems in the US and abroad. If you’re not already informed about these issues, please take the time to do some research and find ways to support organizations such as BLM. I also hope you, your families, and your loved ones are safe, and if any of you are on the picket lines, know that you have my full support.

No worries bro, you’ll get it soon enough. I’m going to farm a couple hundred keys and make a push for 138 before era ends. I really think with good mobs and the right maps it can be done sub 4k paragon.

With perfect maps who knows what can be cleared. Probably higher then 138 for you. I was very jealous of that first map you got with fatties.

Hey Free, thanks for the kind words! I really outdid myself this season.

There I was struggling with GR115, and it’s amazing that with the community sharing of knowledge, encouragement and advice, i made it to GR124! And landed in the leaderboard (albeit at a lowly 750’s). Shoutout to Blayze and Phoenix who took the time to answer my questions, and to the other vets who had directly and indirectly made me the player I am today!

Season 20 is ending soon! Are you guys still gonna continue pushing?

Heck yeah I will! First, I need some more keys though, haha.

Go get that 138 Boy!!!

Threw a few keys at 125, no good, rubbish maps and mobs.

Go to T16 to farm some more keys, open maps, pylons and elites everywhere :man_facepalming:

This game’s RNG is still finding ways to troll me

Can’t really compare T16 to GRs… T16 is always dense with a few very annoying exceptions.

Well I get plenty of tunnels in T16 as well, but it was just typical of the luck I have with Rifts.

Maybe that’s the reason I don’t often play in groups, I don’t want to have three other players suffer that same RNG luck

I feel your pain, I’ve had some ridiculously good maps when running T16s and speed 9xs!

Yeah it happens.

I’m not too worried, maybe I get 125, maybe I don’t. Either way, I am way in front of where I expected for this season.

I even smashed out a 120 on NS, which I’d never done before recently.
