[Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20)

Gonna wait till the last minute but I will give 138 another try right before era ends.

Burned 100 keys at 138 and my closest was taking the RG down to 60% hp before timer ran out. Grr. First two maps were big spire with bad mobs and little arreat with also bad mobs.

That’s pretty close… I love big spire, it’s one of the most underrated maps imo

Keep going man, all it takes is one juicy first floor festering and you’ve got a shot

So, I found this a couple of days ago on my seasonal Barb…

Planning on handing it off to my non-seasonal WW/Rend Barb in a week’s time when the season ends. As I already have a primal 10%, STR, CDR on the non-seasonal, I’m thinking re-roll the STR to 24% AD?

Yes strength to AD. That’s a perfect primal roll, congrats.

Hello, guys and girls. I need a little help please.

I still struggle with understanding what stats do i need on my BK swords.

Now i have on BOTH swords:

<-> damage
str
vit
CDR (rolled off 10% DMG)

Is that correct? I saw many players with rolled off Vitality to 10% damage increase.

I also have IB swords, but there should be what stats?
Is it like:

<-> damage
STR
10%
AD

?

Thank you

Hi Phate. This is covered in the OP, so you should give that a read.

BK swords are mainly only used to speed-farm T16 and Bounties, and the ideal rolls will be Strength, 10% damage, and CDR. Don’t stress too much about your BK swords because they’re not super important.

IB swords should be rolled to Strength, Area Damage, and CDR.

10% damage on weapons isn’t optimal when pushing, particularly when the returns you get from AD are so much more important.

Hope that helps!

10% damage on the mainhand > strength imo

Those mainhand hard cast rends, combined with AD account for the majority of your damage once you get to the stage where AD becomes critical.

Thank you. I have read your guide 100 times, but this was still too confusing.

I “push” with bks, because i struggle with fury still. So i made compromise between BK and IB without hardcast AD.

Eh, yeah, when you have sufficient Paragon, but getting a sword that drops with near perfect CDR and AD so you can roll Strength isn’t exactly common.

If you use the Wind Shear rune for WW, you shouldn’t have any problems with using the IB weapon set. They’re much more powerful than the BK set, so I strongly encourage you to push with Istvans.

Pro tip: Before you start a GR, equip the BK set to get a fully Fury globe, then switch to the IB set, and then start your rift. That way you’ll have plenty of Fury to start spinning and winning.

As someone who used to be the same and only use BK’s, I can highly recommend these two pieces of advice.

I used to top out in the 90’s, maybe 100 in seasons, I am now pushing towards 125 this season.

BK swords do make a huge difference, so if you want to push higher, it’s worth making the skill changes and using them.

The screenshot shows I could turn that primal into either of these…
STR, CDR, AD
10%, CDR, AD

Hero that it’ll end up on is… Meteorblade

Fantastic find! Will you be pushing non-Season? If so, I’d roll the Strength to AD. I’m not quite how to math out at what Paragon/main stat it would be worth it for Season play.

I also don’t recommend using Crimson’s in Season play. You’ll get way more bang for your buck out of the Core build.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to play more Doom Eternal, the game where you can chainsaw a man in half, take his bullets, and use them to murder all his friends while you light them on fire.

My combined paragon will be around 3950 when XP gets combined next Sunday so I’ll be seeing what I can manage with the non-seasonal Barb after I do all the Stash Tetris™. In addition to the sword, I’ll also be giving my seasonal Barb’s FoT to my non-seasonal which, whilst not being elemental, is quite tasty as it has CHC, CHD, AD, CDR, Socket, so it’s a nice upgrade.

Thank you guys for help.

Hi, all!

After augmenting nearly all my gear on the WW Barb, I was able to do a GR110 in 5:16 recently with my current setup (Crimson, BK swords). No deaths.

I will see how far this setup takes me and then will definitely make the switch to IP Blades and/or Core Zodiac Build incl. BoM, as advised back in late April, once I hit a wall, be it due to incoming damage or insufficient damage dealt to enemies.

But I have a feeling that GR120 or even a bit higher might be possible as is. I’ll see

/Edit 2020/06/18:
Now at GR111 in 6:05.
If this is a trend I might have to make the switch after reaching GR120/121.

Hey it’s me, your twin! I have a similar sword and for what it’s worth, I rolled off the str and my paragon is 3,974. Would do it again 10/10.

As long as you have perfect cdr and area damage rolling strength off for +10% damage becomes beneficial at 20,001 main stat. Both of you are well over that mark. And some will say but you lose defense too. Well in the core build defense will never be a problem.

So I burned through ~350 keys at 138, only playing through 10 full GRs. I could have cleared 3 of them had I not made some errors in game play. Definitely a hard pill to swallow and I’m kicking myself for failing, but at least I know it’s definitely possible.

Not sure I can farm another 400 keys to try again but I’ll get it done next era for sure.

I just went from Rank 120 to Rank 79 on the ladder overnight. Haven’t touched my barb in a month. Was there a ban wave?!?

Looks like I may earn a legit top 100 finish after all
