I have a feeling there will be a theme. In the past players jump on ptr and test the stuff that doesn’t really need testing. This is why some themes have gone live without proper feedback and testing. So maybe they are testing the base game(follower changes, new leaderboards, two reworked set, dh/WD nerfs) as these will all be permanent changes. Then after this week they say hey surprise here is your juicy season theme with any number changes from the first weeks PTR. If they do not give season anything else 95% of the players will do there journey and leave.
Yeah, for sure. I was speculating on those numbers here: [Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20) - #2718 by Rage-13139
Decided to put a few keys in on the PTR to see what IK hota feels like. Good lord that build needs a ton of help. I figured 125 would be easy for me since I did 118 years ago and it got a buff. Its also squishier then wwrend. I was taking more damage in this 125 then I do with ww in 142 testing. Oh well its back in the cellar again until blizz changes something.
Hey there, HB.
Just looked at your profile and not sure if it’s current since it’s showing BK swords (which are good for speed farming only) and Stricken (good for pushing only). So, yeah, not sure what’s up with your current profile or if it didn’t update after a gear swap or something, but here’s my two cents.
Macro Scale Advice
Stop trying to play the build your way. If you want to optimize efficiency and clears–if you want to push as high as you possible can with your gear and Paragon–play the build the correct way. Again, this is only valid advice if you want to push it as far as your gear and skill can take it.
D3 is a very linear game in terms of builds, and if you want to maximize what you get out of a given build, you need to play it the correct way.
Micro Scale Advice
Lots of little things, so bear with me.
Ditch the BK swords. Use them for speed-farming and nothing else. The Istvan’s swords are always, always, always better for pushing because they give you a 30% damage multiplier. Get a pair with CDR and AD and adjust skills and such according to the guide.
Drop Crimson’s. At your Paragon, you’re not getting the real benefit from adding Crimson’s into the mix. The Core build is tankier and stronger until you can completely afford to give up Band of Might for COE, and you’re not there yet. In fact, there’s good reason to think that the Core build is always stronger if played correctly; if you’re careful with Stomp, you can pixel stack very dense clusters of mobs within massive density, and the resulting AD damage (when you hard-cast Rend) will be several times more valuable than what Crimson’s offers as a flat damage multiplier.
Stick with the Core build and adjust skills accordingly.
Use Rage Flip and Stomp. These are essential skills to master. Yes, they take time–especially Rage Flip–but they are well worth it.
If you wear the Zodiac ring and get CDR rolls on both weapons + Flavor, you should be able to roll the CDR on gloves to AD.
Again, if I caught your profile mid-update or you left the game wearing your speed-farm build, ignore what I’m saying (but do adjust your speed-farm build, because there’s a lot of room for optimization there).
Yes Free , I have both builds set up in my Armory . That way I can switch when I want to do quick key farming . But I intend to practice and to play with the Core build . You will be able to see it now if you want to have a look . Seras says it’s looking pretty good other than Band of Might , FoT and my gloves and shoulders should be quads , chest needs AR with rend and then to look for those upgrades and keep trying for better sword drops . Sounds like good advise on gear changes to me . I am pretty happy with this and that I have finally learned how to make the Istvan’s Swords work right and manage fury a bit better . So Yeah , have a look when you can . I think it’s not bad the way it’s set up but will need a few gear improvements as I go . I am currently at 118% AD with no cooldown or WoTB buff issues , so sitting pretty well . CDR is at 48.10% unbuffed on sheet . I did what you suggested and swapped BOM for ORotZ . The BOM I had on was sub par and I’ll hope for a better one later . I could use the extra CHD that BOM offers while wearing , but I need a better one than what I was using . Much Appreciated Free !
Your lamentation should have str/vit/life/allres. Life per fury isnt giving you much. Swords to ploughshare in density will be enough healing and that extra life roll on belt will allow for less points in vit on your paragon.
Right now that might not be an issue because your FOT has a vit roll which should not be there so your probably ok in that department. If you do find a crit/crit/ hellfire with strength or physical you will be short that vit that is on your FOT.
My FoT doesn’t have vitality on it Chris . You must have meant something on another piece of gear . My FoT has strength on both the roll and augment . 914 on the roll and 600 on augment
You are right. Im really tired. Time for bed…
Still trying for a better belt . I have a Primal Lam Belt , but unfortunately it rolled with single elemental resistance which prevents AR roll . So I opted with the belt I have . It’s a pretty good one but I want to get one with + Life as well . They don’t drop for me often so I have been gambling with Kadala for a upgrade here and there .
No problem, and thank you for the clarification. Yes, your push build looks strong. With practice, you can be pushing 130-135+ without tons and tons of fishing.
Maybe this has been discussed multiple times, but this thread is so active that Blizzard should create a separate forum just for it.
On the Mortick what do we want ? I would say AR over VIT with at least 4/5k paragon, am I right ?
You are correct. And what do you mean about a separate forum?
It was just a joke Free. I wanted to joke on the fact that this thread is still so active and full of new content that we should get a dedicated space just for ourselves
And thanks for the head up on the bracers
I would not trade out vit on morticks until way later than 5K paragon. At 5.9K paragon if I remove the 650 vit points from the bracers, I’ll be sitting around 425khp. Your points are better spent on str at that level than making up the vit. If you have the bracers already, save them for later.
If you’re daring, I would say 425khp is good enough for ~GR 135 - 138 with 35k main stat. The higher you go, you’ll take too much dmg to be efficient.
Haha gotcha. Wasn’t sure if I’d missed some conversation in the many, many posts I haven’t read through yet.
Yeah, it’s cool that this thread is still among the most active on all the forums. Barb community is definitely the best community.
I’m at para 5620, have both mortick primal with either VIT (and lightning resistance) and other pair is with AR. I guess I should be covered. Life sits at 525k with 40k main stat (and the AR mortick on). With the VIT one, it’s a bit higher, but seems a good trade I guess.
I’m now wondering why you have so low life compared to me though. I checked your profile and the gear looks pretty much the same, same for rolls (I have vit on armor, you have it on mortick). got a few more primals, but well… Am I blind or something?

Also been crafting Hellfire for the entire day (like 200 so far) and only got trash… want to cry…
Do you have any paragon points into vit? I’m not sure either, here’s my sheet HP based on the two morticks. The one without vit has no augments so my str is lower, but that shouldn’t matter.
I hear you on the hellfires, I maxed out after two days and 500 crafts lol. Waiting for new patch to go live before deep diving back into the game. Right now I’m enjoying my break.

It’s Italian, but you should understand anyway (also, this is crimson build, hence why a bit less crit because of zodiac in gear).
Yet, have no clue where those extra 100 k come from, but it could be that I’m just blind.
Your extra health is on your chest piece.
Took a closer look at your gear, makes sense:
