Swapping to GoD felt like such a horrible downgrade from the initial Impale, and took a while to complete some pieces in order to stay alive long enough to realize the dps climb felt too much like UE.
The only mechanical upside I see (in theory) is a better application of Zei’s for HA chains off screen.
HA is too slow and clunky, even without the momentum proc fails.
Looking at your season dh it seems to be set up for gold and gem farming. You would probably be better off using one of the ‘standard’ GOD builds with the right rings and skills… and legendary gems (not Stricken at this point).
ime, god is about 4-5x more dps than ue. it plays nothing like impale so it would be hard to compare the two and i highly dislike impale so i couldnt even begin to compare dps of it
@Seccie
(edit: delete some nonsense.)
Sticken is too soon, use Powerful/Zei/Trapped instead. Reconsider Sticken when it takes a long time to kill RG/elites.
Mantle of Channeling is OK for more protection (inc damage to Strafe is negligible), but you wasted a ring slot for RoRG. I’d rather use full set and Elusive/Unity for more damage reduction, or CoE/SoJ for more damage. F&R ring set is very good for GoD builds.
Calamity was nerfed many patches ago. Its current mechanism sucks.
Replace Calamity with other xbow, e.g. Fortress Ballista for more protection, or …
You use the passive Cull the Weak. Seems you don’t have any crowd control mechanics to proc it. Perhaps replace Ambush with Thrill of the Hunt.
GoD kills large group of white and elites very fast.
At the entrance of a rift, spawn few HA (or other primary skill) to build up the stack.
Then press and hold the Strafe button. Click HA every one to four seconds to keep the stack up. I rebind HA to Space bar for convenience.
Just to note that if no mobs around, Strafe won’t fire primary skill, and your hatred will go down very quickly. A high density map won’t be a problem because primary skill spawned by strafe will generate hatred. Beware low density maps. Skip low density area, and try to find large mob groups.
You are wrong Taeguk provides a defense buff as well. If you take a look at the leaderboards or build guides you will see that Taeguk is a good option.
Gain 2.00% increased damage for 1.5 seconds when you spend resource on a channeled skill.
that’s exactly what I’ve been doing…and it does SFA dmg for me…I’m scratching my head cos it should be performing for me but isn’t…I just can’t figure out why it’s not working and I’ve become very frustrated with it.
running std build with valla’s and COE (icy veins). No elusive. I see that there’s an alternative with fortress ballista and elusive ring. I tried a GR100 in NS (p2700, simplicity’s strength at rank 0, but trapped and powerful @ 120) and it was woeful. I tried it again in season, with non-ancients, but better rolled gear, p800, simplicity’s strength, taeguk and stricken @ rank 25, for the same results. 20 deaths in the first 2 minutes, can barely touch mobs and elites. Molten is instadeath as soon as I stand on it. I hate button mashing builds, so I was probably inactive on shadow power or smoke screen at a guess and that is probably contributing to the build’s fragility for me. There’s no way I find pressing a bunch of buttons fun every few seconds, just not my cuppa tea, so I strongly suspect that the build will never gel with me. That leaves me with s6 impale, which as we all know isn’t a match for the potential of the god set in terms of outright dps. If Blizzard had listened to feedback and buffed hps quiver to 200-250%, then we’d have been cooking, but when does Blizzard ever listen lol…
I think mechanically GoD and UE are night and day.
The biggest benefit of GoD is that it’s a kiting build. You can run around and run away from troublesome mobs, yet continue to lay fire upon them.
GoD doesn’t stop, it just orbits. It CAN stop, but there’s no reason when you can focus solely on position rather than facing.
A simple example is if you watch folks doing massacre bonuses, they’re always stopping to shoot behind them. GoD you don’t. You might orbit in front of the pack while they catch up, but otherwise you just run away and let Strafe do the work.
There is a UE benefit of killing stuff off screen. The powerful MS damage has a long range, vs the GoD needs to “see” the monster to target it.
But there’s a great advantage to do damage while running away, or around, or through. This is even distinct from the WW Rend Barb, which must “run through”. GoD can skirt the edges (and if gemmed right is encouraged to work the periphery due to the range bonuses).
The downside of GoD is you can’t focus it on a particularly troubling monster, everyone gets hammered equally so you need to wear down the lighter trash before you can focus on, say, an elite or champion boss.
Console with pad might be harder - but there is clearly something off. The build feels so much stronger than UE, even with bad gear.
Simplicities is a must, though. With level zero - no LoH return (Impale without LoH would also just fail - but it has already 60k LoH build in).
You probably do something wrong … your current profile char is also quite strange. It is neither a GR build nor a farming build. Channeling shoulders make no sense (use depth diggers).
And why emeralds in gear if you have problems to survive? Always go for diamonds (maybe not if you just reach 70).
Oh I see - calamity. There is a bug with it - so you can’t build up momentum stacks. Breaks the build. Even without that bug - Calamity is broken. Don’t use it - the legendary effect will be close to zero. And no need for stricken at this point.
Your Dawn is awesome, though - actually a good reason to play this build.
And weapon choice is bad. You got that suberb dawn and then you ruin it with a low level offhand. For dualwield it works like this: (a+b)/2. A mediocre normal cirri should be way better. Or just use a Danetta or whatever with decent damage.
Amu is also abysmal. Use the best you’ve got (CHC/CHD, Socket + x) . For later optimizations you can focus on Squirts, FoT or Johan.
Honestly, you need to level up those gems a lot. Contrary to popular belief, you can’t just slip on the GoD set and crush 100s with weak gear and low level gems.
(It’s like running UE with mediocre gear and 25 and under BotT, Zei’s and BotP…and I know because I was trying to farm T16 with that and was getting wrekt.)
But I have a 107 down in season (toon below) with 3 ancient set pieces (all meh rolls), one lvl 70 aug (from journey), my ancient Dawn has 61% (sux) and my ancient Fortress is only 2.7% (sux). Taeguk/Stricken @ 80, Simplicity @ 94 (been leveling other gems for UE farming).
