Gibbering Gemstone - Proc rate - Replacement proposal

RNG

Frost Caverns: 50%
Chiltara: 40%
Gibbering Gemstone: 5%

0.5 * 0.4 * 0.05 = 0.01 = 1%

Why it is bad

Random of random of random (random^3) is nearly impossible.
Moreover if it takes a long time to test the possibility of a roll.

Making such a loot a mandatory step for the season journey is a bad practice.

Restarting over and over games breaks immersion, and servers.
It is not fun. It is a chore.

I don’t have time to spent on this.
Neither 99% of casual players.
They will fail the altar journey.

It will generate frustration and defiance.
The Diablo series will lose engagement.
Not the great idea, nor the best moment.
The next opus comes in few months.

Solution 1

Smoothen the season journey.
Replace the “Staff of Herding” requirement by something more acceptable.
Something the player is guaranted to possess.
For example a LoD gem.
Or 1-3 legendary gems.

Solution 2

From the community, as stated in the comments:
Significantly increase the proc rate of Gibbering Gemstone (100%).

NB:
Also reduce the number of Conquests to 2 to smoothen the season journey for casual players. You want engagement for Diablo 4, and this is the way. #Mando

I’m a little frustrated with gemstone also. Almost impossible to get it due to queues.

But about lowering conquest amount I don’t agree. In practice only 1 “real conquest” is needed for finishing the journey. 2min rift and gem lvl conquest come quite automatically if player just plays normally (slow players might need to join a couple public rifts to get the 2min thing). This leaves only one real conquest to be done.

These offerings were added, so you are willing to play more than one week in this seson. No need to rush no where. We have atleast 3 months.

But do I have this amount of time to grant to Diablo 3 ?
Is Diablo 3 my sole game ?
Is playing ARPG my sole activity ?

What about casual players ?

I got the 3 gems and the 6 sets, which are (sort of) straightforward.

I find it quite hard in solo.
Not all classes can do this.

Forcing people to play multi, mmmhhh.
I don’t know.

The problem is not about rushing (except for the sub 2 minutes conquest).

When something can roll anytime during your activities, why not.

When players are forced to loop over and over the same map, with no diversity in gameplay and 99% disillusions, it is just utterly boring.

A game is supposed to be fun.

This aint’ funny at all. :sleepy:

This sole requirement is completely ruining the S28 player experience.

If casual players aren’t able to complete it, then they simply aren’t able to.

Then accept that you aren’t getting a really nice pair of wings (Above average cosmetics are fine to require a lot of effort) and double primals. Double. Primals. Come on that isn’t something to just give away.

Like you don’t have the time, so accept that you aren’t getting some luxury thing.

Instead of doing constant hunting I rather just do it every now and then in between normal activities, which also requires fewer remakes.

Corrected for you, no need to thank me. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

if you’re able to get an 125 whispering atonement , the staff is a(grindy and annoying) piece of cake.

Maybe you’re not fluent in English (I’m not).
Look here for synonyms on “effort”:

(I haven’t found the gemstone either)

Interesting, doesn’t have the “attempt” sense in french.

Only the mental / physical exhaustion.

Once you have the whispering atonement, getting it to 125 is just a matter of eliminating pets generators and avoiding explosions.

By the way, having an immunity to enemies’ death explosions could be a nice Quality of Life improvement.

still, my point stans, it requires way more investing into your character than just running around on normal. I actually had a worse time finding the black mushroom.

But you have time for this:

It is a different game.

A game of imagination. :bulb: :grinning:

That’s maybe 1-2 hours of text editing and ~25-30 minutes of photoshop to add a build-planner’s output on top of a google-search & download image…didn’t take nearly a week of normal-human gametime to create.

After 72 game created not a single stone and also only 1 mystery cave. 1 cave out of 72 games and then u still have to have luck if chest is there. I just gave up.

So do I. :sleepy:

I can’t inflict myself so much psychic damage. :game_die:

You don’t tend to play the game or care about it, we get it this much. Hell, you may not even play the game indepth, nor care about the effort you need to showcase for playing high tier content. It’s all fine.
Just because you don’t wanna waste time on the game because of a small obstacle down the road, doesn’t mean everyone cares about that little obstacle. However, if you await into the season the crowd will fade away and you can recreate games over and over again to try and farm it.

I tried this morning between 6 am and 8 am and I was indeed able to create new games.

Creating new games isn’t the pain point.

After 4 hours of recreating games (in total with this weekend) without any Gibbering Gemstone, I left the season 28.

My patience has limits.

Exchanging with friends (P50 VS me P750), I’m way over casual players.

Just imagine the psychic effect on casual gamers.

They are fished with a reward they will statistically never get.

Very bad advertising. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Can’t finish the entire tree in 2 days? WAHHHHHHHHHHHH.

They should have made the tree much harder to progress or with more linked nodes.

Chiltara showed up 90+% of the time in Caverns of Frost for me. Out of 30-35 Cavern runs, Chiltara didn’t show up three times.

Getting the gemstone was way easier than running all those speed 90s to get the 6 primals you need salvage to get all the potions unlocked.
