The Mystic needs have a selection where we can reforge/replace an items main stat to match our followers. Perhaps a check box or something. Just saying.
Example: A Barbarian trying to gear the Enchantress or Scoundrel.
PS. Please do not tell me to create another character just so I can visit the mystic for the stat change. That is just silly. There needs to be a mechanic where we can reforge gear so its proper for the follower.
Thatâs gotta clutter up enchant window so bad. Doesnât main stat also have higher chance of appearing? Rerolling amulet, ring, offhand is gonna be a nightmare, which already can, but even way worse.
As to the OP. That sounds really inconsistent considering the smart loot system D3 has, but I agree with your complaint. Workaround we currently have is not so good either.
The thing is that lot of players might play seasons with one character only. They donât want to roll another class into season just to get correct the main stat for the follower.
For non-season this is not an issue since most people do play all or at least most classes and can acquire gear with correct main stat. Seasons are however trickier for the reason said above.
While using different class to get gear with correct main stat is a valid workaround, it is still just a workaround. What is needed is a solution.
First of all - the new Followers options are great for solo. As a solo player myself I am very fond of this. But if I were one of the devs I would have also added this in the process:
It should be possible to freely interchange the Main Stat affix on any given item between DEX / INT / STR without marking the affix as enchanted and without changing the actual affix value. That means you could change the affix from e.g. 666 INT to 666 STR or 666 DEX.
This should either be an option at the Mystic or a new cube recipy. I would suggest it costs 1 Flawless Royal gem of the respective color to do this.
I suspect the best solution to this is actually going to be a new cube recipe that changes the mainstat of the item based on the type of gem used in the recipe. It wouldnât change the value of the mainstat, just its type and would be independent of the mysticâs enchant allotment (i.e. you could roll whatever you want on the item, and once done could change the mainstat to the proper type). This would solve both the follower and alt issues with the same solution.
The reason for the cube recipe not conflicting with the mysticâs enchant is because if you intended to reroll the mainstat, youâd do that first and then change the mainstat. In that case youâve just changed one thing. If you changed any other affix, youâre still essentially only changing one thing because you left the original mainstatâs value alone and are only making it usable on your follower/alt. In both cases you only get one actual change of value. This would also allow you to craft, say, a staff for your enchantress, change the undesired affix to whatever you want, and then make the mainstat match her affinity - e.g. on my DH Iâd craft the staff, itâd roll with dex, I cold change anything I wanted to, then finalize the mainstat via the cube to Int.
This is desparately needed since the followersâ skills are mainstat dependent. Leaving them gimped because you are unlikely to ever get the emanate piece you desire with their mainstat natively rolled is a bit ludicrous if this new follower system is to thrive going forward.
I hope this will be expanded further to close the gap between solo play and group play, without affecting group play.
With this revamp, the main stat thing is something that should be improved upon.
It would be absolutely great if we could simply and freely exchange the main stat from one type to another, using same value, at no cost and not counting as reroll.
This would greatly help with storage needs too, when playing multiple characters using different main stats.
The mystic or cube could have a (cheap) option to exchange main stat type for another type.
I think this is the best option that can be done. Would not affect any balance on anything since its only limited to the 3 main stats and would provide the best option for gearing followers when not the same main stat as the follower.
Iâve seen some suggestions where people say just get rid of the 3 different stats and just call it âmain statâ. Thats another option that could work but they would need to revamp all the 3 main stat gems again since int classes like using rubies for armor from STR.
A 3rd option would be allow us an option to select what âmain statâ we want to have drop in our loot. Honestly i wouldnât mind if it was more of a class toggle option. Say have a new tab at the mystic where you can select what âclassâ you want your loot to drop as. It defaults to your current class but you can change it so that as a BARB, you can set your loot as say Wizard and all loot drops that happen will be as if you were a Wizard. You would see wizard set drops, wizard gamble options, etc. This would also stop the need for logging out when full blood shards on your main to swap to your alt and use teh blood shards and then swap back.
This is precisely what Iâve been hoping for / half-expecting since they introduced Augmenting in the cube, and while the cube would be the most sensible place for Main stat swapping I would personally prefer a separate tab at the Mystic that would allow you to reroll the following stats while maintaining their roll value:
Main stat
Skill Damage (Converting +15% Impale damage to +15% Rapid Fire, for example)
Elemental %
In my particular case I wanted these to free up storage by allowing us to use the same Bracers, CoE, Depth Diggers or what have you for multiple builds and characters (or even the same with different skill choices) at the cost of rerolling a couple of stats, but it would also work well for followers (minus the skill damage for obvious reasons!).
Thatâs not a bad idea, especially the skill % would be very welcome. I highly doubt they ever add something like that, though. Having this kind of feature for the main stat affix is pretty much a must-have now, but for the other two? That might be asking for too much.
Make it a cube recipe.
Put an item in with 1 flawless gem of the stat you want to replace it with and it changes it 1-1. So you can roll it to the amount you want at the mystic then do the recipe.
Example- you are a DH and have a nemesis bracer you want for your enchantress. You roll the dex to near perfect (ancient-748) then put them in the cube with a flawless topaz and it converts the items over exactly now with 748 int.
Somebody hasnât played the new patch. Double DBâs, double gems, flavor of time, permanent nemesis bracers, starting fresh this season has been awesome.
