I am talking about

The problem is that some are missing the nuance of what he has said and do not realize that they are internally consistent. In the past and on multiple occasions when specifically asked about what he would change in hindsight about D2, he has stated that he would like instanced/personal loot instead of free for all loot. In the youtube video above in relation to D2R, he states why it makes sense to keep FFA loot in D2R given the history of D2 and several additional reasons. Personally, I think his comments on trade economy does not take into account the implications of duping and botting but so be it. In that same interview, he did state that Blizzard could introduce a personal loot option in D2R.
I do solo password games and clear everything. I get all the drops
ā¦ and this will be the new standard with personal loot. Why should anyone try to run with others. Even the strategy to join other games and clear other areas to benefit from higher player number would not make sense. FFA is the core of the games success. This makes it difficult.
Also, why should a dead game be remasteredā¦
Changes will come. But please no changes which turns the game upside down at release. Wait for later seasons. The game is great as it is but I agree it is no perfect. So why not starting off with a great game with great graphic?
The algorithmic problem, however, is that with up to 8x the loot, thereās a lot more extremely rare items in the community and the values of items change. Theyād have to make things harder to find in order to keep with the original developersā other dream of making it f*ing impossible to obtain the things you wanted.
I can understand why some might not be on board. Iād be thrilled to just have every good thing 8x more common because I might play on Ladder in that case.
With all do respect to Mr. Brevik he is dead wrong about the P loot situation, it was a bad idea then, and itās a bad idea today. I recall that Brevik wanted D2 to be turn based also, and was not particularly interested in the ālive actionā motion that they had implemented until he played it, so he hasnāt been correct on everything, and also he isnāt the only one who created the game.
If Path of Diablo and Project Diablo 2 can create a D2 experience that is Bot free then there is no reason a Multi-Million dollar company like Blizzard canāt do the same.
The fact of the matter is, is that if your for P loot chances are you are completely ignorant to the mechanics of how the game works. Itās not just a switch you can āturn onā or off, and in fact I have seen many times where the P looters reveal how little they know about the game by reading some of the things they want changed.
Excersize your click finger you soft scrubs.
Why are you always talking about Personal Loot? It seems like thatās all you care about.
So what If David Brevik wanted Personal Loot in Diablo II. This could have happened when he first worked on the game. He can not come 21 years later, I can understand he regrets but Itās a kinda too late for that now.
Game is now a Classic, and Vicarious Visions also said D2:R is going to be very close to the original game. Not change the whole economy etc. . .

lol you hope we get to play FFA loot? Lol nah itās more like cross your fingers and pray you get your participation trophy loot, It would require a major overhall to the game in order for it to have P loot and thus far, the game is the same underneathā¦ so good luck pal.

Iāll get more loot under FFA loot, the reason I think personal loot is a better design decision is because of server side cheats.
Also, I donāt think it will require a major overhaul, itās likely easier to code than you think.

Regardless of whether Personal Loot had existed in the game, there had been cheaters around us anyway.
Personal Loot doesnāt fix the problem!
If you really want to fix the problem, turn D2:R to a singleplayer game.
Wreck the whole online play.
Adding personal loot absolutely does fix the pickit problem.
Sure, it wonāt fix every cheat, but every bit helps to keep D2R as legit as possible.
Cheating wrecked D2, hopefully we can do a little better for D2R.

Wahhh wahhhā¦ keep it ffa or itās p2p
Claiming FFA loot killed the game is not only an massive claim, but a ridiculous claim with no evidence whatsoever.
Also, how can you claim a 20 YEAR OLD game is dead and then say it has 40-60k players seconds later
The move to 1.10, massive cheating, and newer gameplay options killed D2 online.
Thereās still a few of us that play regularly but a lot of thing contributed to d2 being less fun than it used to be.
Hopefully D2R can keep people interested and keep cheating to a minimum. If personal loot is a part of combating pickit, and the devs feel it necessary for the integrity of the game, Iām all for it.
FFA loot didnāt kill d2 though.
There are perfectly good arguments for personal loot being a better game development tool than FFA loot when it comes to exploitability.
If your argument is that it should be left out of D2 for nostalgic reasons, fine, but game developers have been shying away from FFA loot for a long time, as it is an easier system to exploit with server side, hard to detect software.

There are plenty of ways to prevent your loot being āstolenā. If you are uncomfortable with the people you are playing with, donāt play with them. Play with your friends in a locked game. You do not ever have to play with strangers if you do not want to do so.

If you play a range class, the melee classes take all the loot since you are too far away. Itās an unfair advantage. I had to stop playing range classes in multiplayer in order to get loot.
