I bought the game only because I thought that they uncensored the Amazon and removed the idiotic skirt she’s wearing now, which has nothing to do with how she originally was.
What lead me to believe this is the beta advertisement picture which they shared a few days ago, namely this one:

In game the Amazon looks nothing like this, she still wears the skirt that covers her up. Interesting approach. Why are you showing false marketing material?
Refunded btw.

This is true, I also think the Barbarian doesn’t look anywhere near as buff as he should.
I have no idea why they decided to make these kinds of adjustments, because all it does is ruin the game.

Huh. A guy in another thread told me that they actually did change the artwork in response to fan pressure. Just that they kept it secret so there wouldn’t be any political repercussions.
I’m not too sure about that story.
It’s untrue. I can post screenshots of the Amazon here. She still wears the ugly skirt and is covered up, no higher thighs / butt.

Keep in mind the pictures shown are likely from a far newer build than the beta.
They can push whatever to their launcher but microsoft and sony have certifications that they need to pass and take time. To keep feedback all relevant they are all the same build.
Just like the loading screen deaths, not fixed in this build but fixed in other builds

I’m hoping the tweet was showing where development was now. The beta patch must not be the most up to date. They need to keep the amazon true to the original D2.

I hope that’s the case, otherwise it’s laughable.
Are folks really getting hot and bothered over not being able to see digitized T&A, or am I not understanding the topic? LOL

No, fans of Diablo 2 desire a faithful remastering of the original. How is that hard to understand?

To be honest it’s not about about T, or A, but the Amazon is ugly, it’s my tastes of course.
Don’t get me wrong the game is fantastic, I am so excited about the final release.
This beta is actually better than I thought, I am just a bit sad about the chara design. D2 was about cliché chars : the beautiful Amazon with fire hair and sexy body, the body builded barb, the agile assassin etc
The game has lost this with those pretty ugly chars, hell even the wolf is ugly… And don’t get me started on the bear.
It’s the only deceptive aspects for me, other than that it’s fantastic ! I have this old and beloved feeling when I play this remastered old school game. I really think vicarious has talented artists for world graphics, but for chars it’s the exact opposite, it’s ugly, rigid, and not charming at all.
Still I love the game.
Nice work vicarious, really. If only the original cliché char design could remain as faithful as the wonderful landscapes

As a female gamer, I have to say original Amazon was actually cute. And her concept art made her look 20-30 years old. Now she looks 50.
It kind of reminds me of the whole Teela thing with Masters of the Universe - unfeminine hair-style, unrealistically masculine and muscular rather than feminine, etc.
I don’t want to start something, but I’m a little tired of the left-wing puritans in charge of art design ruining video games. This happened to Bioware too, and started around Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect Andromeda. I never got a sense that the D2 Amazon had an inappropriate character model. This is a massive over-correction that is completely unnecessary.

The Amazon looks like a man
The Assassin looks ugly as sin (get it?)
The Sorc isn’t that bad. Well she is but compared to the other two she is a 10/10.
The guys look like HOBOS and the Barb looks like he never lifted anything heavy.

There was nothing wrong how the original classes looked in original D2.
Why did you have to change all the classes to look so strange?
The Druid looks like a homeless man that found an interesting outfit in the town’s dumpster.
Sorc looks like she is anything but a sorc.

Got to protect those thighs doh! To be honest, the game was so pixelated in the day, you can imagine whatever you wanted… the good ol days.
At least there was concept art for Diablo 2, so we actually know what the original artists intended.

She looks way cuter and way younger.

Yes, I fancy a young, cute girl barely covered to battle horde of demons… I do fancy that.

Woah there… you bought D2R ONLY for an uncensored amazon without a skirt… this is very troubling sir. Seek help.
(i don’t like the grandmazon design either, but this is a very creepy thread about it)

Characters are fine
Why on earth are people expecting some He-man lookalike characters in game that’s about killing demons & other satanic stuff?
That daily soy shake must be altering your brain, learn to read, get a pair of goggles or something or meds. I bought it due to removed censorship and listening to feedback. Men who played D2 when it was first released dont want feminist cover ups in the remaster. If you enjoy ugly, censored women, you do you there bud.
If the Amazon looked like a man and had a long skirt in the original, no one would be complaining. People, rightfully, complain when games are messed with to appease twitter blue hairs.
The good news is that they seemingly made good on the screenshot with the last patch. So gg boys, we won. Now just fix the face and revert blood raven to original design.

For a game that insists on keeping everything the same - even the dumbest, most archaic and inaccessible features - it is pretty freaking odd that they couldn’t help themselves and changed the character designs.
It is really hypocritical to profess this “Diablo 2 must be as pure as possible! Screw the console users and the new players! Make them suffer!” attitude only to change the original character designs because they don’t agree with their puritanical politics.
I mean, they made sure that the garlic in a tavern was correct to the pixel, but changed the characters designs to whatever their leftist desires felt like. The reasoning for why this happened is obvious, and it had nothing to do with preservation or being faithful to the original.
