You don’t need the Emanate Feature for that.
You can for example also make it so that once you reach e.g. Paragon 800, your Follower gains an Aura that gives you e.g. 600% increased damage or whatever.
Not every build has a third, forth or fifth legendary that supports its mainskill by an additional x hundred percent.
It would only widen the gap if the Emanate System would include these items.
It is the same reason for why there is such a huge gap between one LoD build and another.
That is a very subjective and authoritarian take on the concept. I think I will let the dev team make their calls on this one. I can not endorse your post.
emanate for Ess of Johan would function differently than the way it works for followers now. It would occasionally pull enemies towards your target, not towards your followers. The distinction is valuable
I have included this in my original post, which is a suggestion for an alternative way to help Soloplayers:
An Alternative Solution to help Solo Players
There are other ways to help soloplayers to be more competitive with group player than letting powerful items that have effects like “Skill X deals xxx% increased damage” to be included in the Emanate Feature.
For example by giving Followers an baseline / passive Aura that unlocks once you reach for example Paragon 800, or an Aura that gets stronger based on your Paragon Level, which gives you increased damage and damage reduction.
Let’s say that a Follower has an Aura that increases your damage by 1%, and for each additional Paragon Level you have, this damage bonus increases by an additional 1%, or by 0.5% or by 0.75% per Paragon Level, up to a maximum of Paragon 800.
At Paragon 800 this would be
° 800% increased damage with a 1% increase er level
° 400% increased damage with a 0.5% increase per level
° 600% increased damage with a 0.75% increase per level
Something similar can also work with Reduced Damage Taken.
No. There is no reason for that. The system blizzard just added was for solo players, not groups. I posted this in another thread, but this is my stand on it and blizzard obviously agree’s with this as their initial design, otherwise they would have made it work for groups from the start.
I completely Agree with Jumpman. Personally I enjoy playing solo. I want to see followers be beneficial and unique.
I also agree that ALL NETURAL LEGENDARY (Any legendary Item that can be used on any class) should be part of the emanate list ie) Leoric’s Crown, Frostburn gauntlets, COE, etc.
Another option if we’re afraid if this is too broken then you could have it so that the items can only give you the minimum % of the effect. ie) Leroic’s Crown can only give 75% even if the item rolled is 100% (Though to be fair I don’t see it being broken just giving the full benefit of the item).
This would allow for some unique builds which you otherwise could not normally get. It gives players an incentive to play solo while also still giving builds and benefits that you particularly can only get in group builds ie) Support builds.
Yes, this is exactly what I am suggesting here… in fact, in what way is it not?
If Followers gain an Aura that increases your damage by several hundred percent, how is it not only for solo players if I may ask?
============================
Including items that have effects like “Increase the damage of Skill X by xxx%” just widens the gap between builds because not every build has a third, forth’s or fifth’s legendary that supports a skill (or playstyle as a while), which means that some builds will benefit much more from that feature than others.
We can already see that with the various LoD builds, where some LoD builds are significantly stronger than others due to that exact same reason.
The Follower Aura is one out of many solutions that are much better than allowing some of the strong er items to be included in the Emanate System.
Even if it would somehow be overpowered for every follower slot to have a powerful emanating legendary - and compared to the group buffs in the game, no it wouldn’t - there’s nothing wrong with a couple slots having powerful items while other slots have quality of life items.
I think a better way to look at this is increasing choice - I want Emanate to allow me to put a couple items on my follower that I otherwise always need on almost every build (FoT, Nemesis) and otherwise give me uses for items I otherwise never take.
Yes, we get it. You’re a super Smart Boy who has dreamed up a brilliant alternative solo boost system. So you want to wreck the devs’ actual system by removing any item that would provide a tangible boost. Stop playing your broken record every time you reply.
I thought a better way to resolve this issue is to let FoT always roll with a random Elemental Damage bonus and/or guaranteed Critical Hit Chance.
===========================
If the intent for the Emanate System is to only work with Utility items, then FoT is way to powerful for that system. It would outshine every other amulet.
If you goal is to bring solo players closer to group player in regards to power or GR clearing potential (which I am in favor of), then doing that by expanding the Emanate System is not the best way to reach this goal.
It can also be reached by e.g. giving Followers an Aura that increases your damage (by several hundred percent) and reduces damage taken when you have one of them with you.
Attempting to do so via the Emanate System will increase the gap between the various builds even further. Just look at LoD builds.
I made my own list with items and sets that SHOULD be added to the emanate system, to lower the gap between SOLO and Group players even more.

Asheara’s Vestments (redesigned)
Asheara’s Vestments
Set Bonuses:
Each time your followers deal damage your damage taken is reduced by 5% up to 25% and you benefit from followers equipped defensive legendary gems (2 pieces)
Your Followers gain access to all skills and their cooldown is reduced by 50%. (3 pieces)
Gain all followers at once and increase their max damage by 10,000%. Each time a follower hits an enemy you deal 7500% increased damage for 5 seconds. You can have one follower to fight by your side when in a party and the damage boost is lowered to 1000% for your follower and 750% for you. (4 pieces)
Putting this set on them too, won’t make the damage you and your follower stack, so it only works when put on ONE follower.
With all those items added to the emanate system and the redesigned Asheara’s Vestments set you can build Your own party when you play SOLO and choose whatever items that suits you.
Btw.
None of the items listed is class specific…
With all these changes SOLO players might finally catch up to all the 4 Man META groups or Rat Runs, who usually use T-HUD anyway for faster clears…
Every item from the list above creates lots of build possibilities and YES it will make the strongest build for your class OP, but guess what WHO CARES!.
The world won’t end if with these items added SOLO players would suddenly clear 130-135 GRs with all class sets with just 2000-3000 in season if there’s a strong season theme or do 150 GRs with “just” 5000-7000 paragon in non season in 6-10 minutes…
This game is 9 years old, so it’s about time that SOLO players get something special for a change too and not just groups whole the time!
I am not saying that the items you listed should not be on the Emanate System, I was simply following the parameters that the devs have set in their initial list, which were:
no weapons
no offensive items (aka increases your damage by xx%)
no defensive items (aka reduce damage taken by xx%)
no class-specific items
only utility items
no items that are really powerful or even essential for a build
You don’t need the Emanate Feature for doing that.
You can either lower enemies health in solo play by e.g 50% or more, or give Followers a damage increasing Aura that e.g. starts at 100% increased damage and for each Paragon Level you get gives you x% additional increased damage up to a maximum, etc.
Doing this via the Emanate System is very much one of the more worse way of doing that for the reasons I stated above.
The people who would like to have several efficient builds to play and not just one or two.
I’ve outlined sample damage calculations in this prediction post.
Fulminator Example for Templar with 106x Multiplier
Weapon Damage (1 hand sword): 2030 average Skill Damage (fulminator): 550% Follower Main Stat Multiplier (max augs, 14 slots): = 21917 * 2.5 Player Main Stat (paragon 5000): 35000 * 2.5 Crit Hit Damage: 580% Follower Multiplier: 106x
Built to proc, your fully augmented follower will not kill clear GR140 without your participation, but it will be strong enough to do GR110-120 under 15 min. If the Follower is to directly assist you in GR120+, it needs to put a dent in the enemy health bar.
This degree of scaling is not a problem for a player and follower running around in full augments. And the new player and follower at 8000 main stat will only get a free ride through GR70-80.
IMHO the Follower right now is doing what it has been for a while, just better. I think we’d all be more excited if it could be built to hit in the trillions.
That is what i initially thought to be honest. I really loved your post. And i think that more items should be added to the list. With the group play, you have supports that proc everything for your dps, they are keeping you alive, they are gathering all the stuff. Even if a follower gets good items is someone here that is telling me that this follower can even compare to a z-barb or a z-necro with perma land of the dead or a z-dh with oddysey? No. So why not allow for a bit better items. I mean the typical items that can be equiped by any class and not the straight up multipliers that are class specific and are usually put in the cube. So why not make the follower feel like a person is supporting us all the time? Even if it triples the damage which sounds ridiculous, it is slightly more than 5gr increase. There are 3 min gr 150 clears nowdays with 4 players. You re telling me that my follower cant get good items to double / triple my damage and douple my toughness and cooldowns cause i might do a high gr now too? There is so much potential for this change in the game. They can allow followers to even have off-hands like the scoundrel and or they could add 20 or more items that would fit these slots. This is not so far-fetched. If diablo 3 has 5-6 seasons left or whatever, is it that impossible to add 3 new items per season? and make every season worth returning for old players.
It been said multiple times already, but just to stress this point. Why would having FoT on the follower be any different from having it on a zDH or zBarb?
The entire group benefits from it and they get the added affect of their skills as well, which are much better than the ones followers have. Not to mention that they are otherwise useless.
No legendary power in the game can single handily carry you to 150, you still need paragon for that.
The game needs changes like this to keep it interesting. Period.
