anyone know if duriel gets updated mechanics in d4? was a borderline broken fight in you fought him in d2 with near constant cold attacks
It’s safe to assume that all the Diablo III kiddies will ragequit D2R without ever setting a foot into Act III.
Based on the trailer above, Duriel likely doesn’t have cold attacks anymore, due to lack of (un)Holy Freeze. That said:
Pretty much this, it’s far too early to say since a lot of things including certain boss fights can change. For all we know, once you get Duriel’s life to a certain percentage, he starts inflicting cold damage and such.
Never understood why some people say Duriel was such a tough fight. And I played D2 before skill synergies were introduced. Likely that all those players speed skipped and faced Duriel lacking in level or something.
I am not sure who the kiddies are you refer to, I enjoy D3 a lot. But I also look forward to smacking the tar out of Duriel again both in D4 and D2R just like I did in D2 several years ago. The first few times I went face to face with him he totally destroyed me. It took a few tries to figure him out. The act 2 merc is a waste when fighting him. Have that town portal ready.
I too have only played the older versions of D2. However the fact remains that Duriel usually is the first enemy in the game to reliably kill me. Depends on the class of course. I seem to have better luck with the Barbarian due to his innate toughness. It doesn’t help that his arena is so small. Duriel is challenging but not unbeatable. The kiddies are the new generation that expect to press a button and see everything around them die. They’re in for a surprise.
I highly doubt most Diablo, or D3 players are new generation kiddies. Most seems to be quite in age. ARPG is not a popular genre so.
Also, with skill synergies introduced, it only made Duriel easier, which will be the same in D2R.
you needed a far higher cold resistance amount as a barbarian or farm more exp for a higher level than other classes due to whirlwind being the only partially ranged ability you could use especially in that level
I first took him down with a thorns Paladin he hit me and died.
The Necromancers clay golem can also go toe-to-toe with him.
D2 Duriel hates thawing potions. If you want to die, don’t drink them.
Haven’t played D2 (LOD specifically) for some time as my only non-work device can’t load it (it barely loads DOS 6.22), but I do remember him being an interesting fight. Druid or assassin was my preference. Of course back then I sucked very badly and had a terrible time in Act III so Duriel was my “end game.”
Placing him in an open area would help.
Thorns is a good tactic. Casting golem and iron maiden on him. He kills himself pretty quickly.
You talking D2R or D4? D2R, nope. D4 most definitely. Doubt we can just stand still popping health/mana pots until he dies, whole porting back to restock if needed.
I’d bet the median age of a D3 player is around 32-35.
No need to bet, the average age of D3 players is about 32
What source do you have to support this?
Diablo 3 was released in May 2012, i.e. almost 9 years ago.
In the USA it was rated M (Mature) which means you need to be 17+
People that were 17 when it released are 26 now.
People that were 20 when it released are 29 now.
People that were 25 when it released are 34 now.
People that were 30 when it released are 39 now.
If we assume the majority of its players were teenagers or in their early 20s when they first played it, it’s not hard to imagine that the average age of people that played it is in the early 30s. Heck, you even have to contend with old folks like me pushing that average way up.
