I find this demand also weird because after v1.09, Duriel got hit by a heavy nerf stick. By v1.11 and onwards, he’s just a normal boss monster instead of a huge obstacle that you need to cheese or build your character around just to bypass it.
diablo2.diablowiki.net › Duriel
“In v1.09 Duriel was nerfed a bit, especially the speed with which he launched his first attack and the damage he did with his Charge. This took away his “kill you before the level finishes loading” capability, and as of v1.11 he’s still a brute, but not an especially deadly one.”
Play the game again at v1.07 then when you finally set a a stop at Duriel load up v1.14d patch to compare.
I remember the times I took on him with my Barbarian in v1.07, he would kill me mid-air before I land after I rise for a leap. You should try it sometime.
That doesn’t happen in D3 either, at least not when you’re pushing.
hmm still no barbarian makes me sad. other classes are relative easy to beat him with due to longer ranged attacks and especially for sorcerer with teleporting away and kiting him
I’m sure someone has a video of their barbarian killing Duriel somewhere on youtube. That said if we’re talking about low level characters, then honestly I never had much issue with Duriel when playing as a Barbarian, at least not compared to playing as a sorceress (unless I’m spamming static field).
Lul who’s the genius thinking that Barb has more problems than other classes in a closed space 1v1
Speaking of Duriel in D4 - I’d say they gave him a bit of Ghom (the consume a player inside animation) and combined with the old Duriel, or maybe even some summoning as there are bunch of… stuff right next nearby
P.S., I’d personally not make him a summoner, would rather give him more of a Siegebreaker vibe maybe with a charge therefore better/more-authentically reminding players who he really was
