Do they every really die?

Not an agenda. It’s pure fact that in D3, Diablo was female.

Yeah, that’s what I’m expecting as well. Diablo is either usually the final boss, or his actions greatly help set the stage for the other last boss (expansion bosses in this case).

JUST STOP. Go away. There are other places on the internet.

Thankfully I don’t have to go away. I have every right to express my views here just like everyone else. I state facts and there is nothing at all wrong about that.

I believe that, like Loki (Marvel series), the sex of Diablo is “fluid”.

Diablo got reincarnated through Leah (female), so Diablo became a she demon with be-donk-a-donks.

'Coz Digital Heroes never feel any pain and Digital Demons never really die.

-Apologies to Ray Davies-

Well unless i’m getting some lore mixed up, Lilith is one of Mephistos daughters, so maybe it’ll be something like in d3 where lilith will get beaten and that sets the stage for mephisto to do his thing but then diablo pulls a sneaky like he did with the black soulstone and backstabs mephisto but it turns out mephisto planned this and it turns into some weird back and forth of mephisto going: no diablo i was pulling your strings! and diablo being like: nuh uh bro! i was pulling your strings!

Yeah I remember the first time seeing that… WHAT THE @#$%?! Drewppy bewbs?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA.

Later on a friend of might told me to look at Diablo’s feet. I said, why? He said just do it. Okay, so I did. Diablo’s feet are high heels. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Friggen high heals.

What a joke!

If anything, it was good for a laugh. I can understand if Diablo’s “change” was handled a bit better, having a dude’s voice throught act 4 and the 3 part encounters did help at all.

If anything, Diablo was in ‘mid transition’ vs. female. Matter of fact, I remember people calling Diablo ‘Transablo.’ WHOAH!!!

I am not against female bosses at all. I still think the coolest boss of all was Andariel. I still remember my first encounter to this day.

I remember those words “DIE MAGGOT!” Then the screen lit up with green and I was dead. There was my corpse and my loots spread out all over the place. I didn’t even see her. HOLY CRAP. This is like the Butcher in D1. FRESH MEAT! I loved it. So much fun.

So, I ran back in cruddy back up gear with a bunch of antidotes. I spammed the heck out of those just to get my dead body and loots. I run to the previous level and ported. I got all situated and went back with a vengeance. This time I was ready. I got to see her and kill her and her death was AWESOME and so was the loot, that first gg gem. Good times.

Not even Diablo in D1 and D2 could hold a candle to the D1 Butcher and D2 Andariel encounter.

Guess what? Andariel is making a comeback in D4. SO GEEKED!!!

Just want to add to this. If Diablo revives through a host, then his physical form takes on traits of his host’s physical appearance as well as becoming warped by his host’s inner fear (hence why Diablo in Diablo 1 was a large brute demon despite possessing a child). As such, if someone wants to consider Diablo, in Diablo 3, a female due to possessing attaining a feminine appearance from reviving through Leah, then by all means. Personally I still consider Diablo male since that was his original form, and his feminine form was only a result of reviving through Leah, who as far as we know of is dead and Diablo (afaik) doesn’t retain traits from previous hosts. In other words it was likely a temporary state.

So whenever Diablo revives without a host (via the black abyss), he’d likely return to his original form. Now if Diablo, for some reason, still retains his feminine appearance, well I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Definitely possible. And funnily enough, you probably just described an accurate depiction of the Great Evils when they have some of their gatherings.

Funny, Diablo et al are genderless xenomorphs.

WOW, that’s a good one. Imagine the family get togethers for anniversaries and holidays.

Well, when looking at the lore from the aspect of the campaign within all of the games…

As you complete the campaign, you go through the “story” and kill monsters along the way. Once killed within the story, they are gone from that aspect of the lore.

Now the larger boss demons and such can’t really be killed. I mean they keep getting destroyed, sure, but their essence does not. Each game’s lore based story has a reimergence arc within them. Evil rises back up, we have to smack it back down.

Technically once the story plot is done, we would have saved Sanctuary in each of the games.

Now, looking at the game as a replayable playthrough sure. Nothing stays dead, we have killed the same demons billions of times and they continue to live and attack.

But I tend to view it from the story point for the lore aspect. The world of sanctuary is not as bad as one would seem. Providing you keep the evil at bay every few years. lol

Game on.

I just want Andariel to come back in all her naked glory.

Well she likely won’t appear as she was in D2, but I suppose you could say that she’s naked… (at least going by her D4 concept art)

It’s time to go to the Twisting Nether.

In reality there is no death, only transition into new forms.

Isn’t it like Angels become complety new individual after dieing, and Demons resurect as the same before? Their gender may appear different, based on the host. But they not always need a host. Only if they want to hide?

Correct, when angels die or are destroyed (without succumbing to major demonic corruption like Izual), they are replaced by the Crystal Arch (birthplace of angelkind) with a new angel that shares the same essence as the previous angel. The only known exception was Tyrael, who actually reformed after his destruction during the end events of D2 LoD.

Yes, some times they may appear somewhat different, but they are the same demon.

Yes, if a powerful demon possesses a host, then their form takes on physical traits of said host. We see a bit of this with Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto when they took control of their hosts.

Yes, they don’t always need a host. The only times demons would need a host is if either:

  • They wished to hide or blend in mortal society.
  • Their physical forms were destroyed and only their essences remained (which was the case for Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto after they were slain and sealed by the Horadrim).

I think in theory that only hell can win: hell has managed to corrupt multiple angels, but heaven has thus far failed to convert any demons.

Humanity is stuck in the middle, facing either complete annihilation by either or forced conversion.

But basically the essence of an angel or demon is eternal and they can’t permanently die.

The Angels have zero interest in converting Demons.
Their society is very much orthodox puritans and any kind deviation from their perceived perfection is to be purged.
Only a handful of angels are an exception to this. However some angels did use humanity is paws in their war.

Demons on the other hand will corrupt and convert anything they can, ether because they get a sick sense of pleasure from it or because it serves their needs.
