Another fun story - about DI Matchmaking system.
This is Olds. This is not news.
Actuall, after 3 weeks Blizzard doing nothing and ignoring that man and his reported problem, Asmongold reacted to his âshould I refundâ video. That man also mentioned his whale discord with circa 30 whales, who all gave more than 30.000 to the game. So Blizzard had to react fast and they made a fix, that was given with the next patch.
He is back to the battlegrounds now.
But I still dont know, if his Immortals could register for the Ritus or just lost battle vs Shadows without being able to register for that fight.
You claimed initially that the $100K whale not being able to find battleground games was proof that the matchmaking system was working as intended. Given recent developments, I guess the truth was either the match making system was not working properly back then or Blizzard broke the match making system now.
What do you think? Broken now or then?
Or they change how matchmaking works like loosening the MMR rating or just adding resonance condition and etc?
What they did to current matchmaking is not something we will know. Asking me for a real answer is pointless.
Even the article covered that:
https://www.extremetech.com/mobile/338518-diablo-immortal-player-drops-100k-becomes-too-powerful-to-find-a-match
Jtisallbusiness spent that much, making him a steamroller in the gameâs popular PVP Battlegrounds mode. After clobbering almost every opponent he faced, his MMR (match-making rank) has climbed so high that he canât find anyone to battle anymore.
So now they can match those whose PvP metric previously far exceeded their competitors.
You claimed that the prior system was good because it made it so these types of matches impossible due to the obvious disparity in the match making rankings.
True
It is good and it was normal for the game with the MMR system. It happened the same for Heroes of the Storm GM rank where top players with high MMR canât find a match due to a lack of opponents to play, so these GMs have to create and play a smurf account from a scratch. I remembered that HoTS developers tweaked the MM system a few times because their previous MM was too restricting to get a match for everyone.
If the DI team wants to let that $100k player get a matchup, they obviously can tweak the matchmaking system since they have the access to the MM system.
and they did, meaning that the matchmaking system now allows those with disparate MMR to play each other in contrast to how you previously said the system should work if designed well.
Seriously, which part do you not understand? Obviously, the current matchmaking is running a different algorithm than the previous one where he canât get a game.
Either they broaden the MMR gap wider or they just add or use resonance rating to get him a match. Who knows. Is there any reason for you to keep asking me this?
Exactly as I previously stated and you then quoted. They presumably changed the system so now the gap is more disparate.

Exactly. They presumably changed the system so now the gap is more disparate. Do you know the meaning of disparate?
I was referring to why you insist on repeating the line âhow you said the system should work if designed wellâ when I told you they changed the MM system one day later.
I said he doesnât get the match at that time because the matchmaking is working as intended at that time to prevent him from matching up with others players that are not in his MMR range. If the DI team wants to cater to him and change and tweak the MM system, they rightfully can do so.

Blizzard has wide latitude to change D:I.

Your quote below was from 6 days ago and I never responded to you in that thread or any thread on the MMR system until this thread in the past hour or so.
Either way, it is good to see that the matchmaking is working as intended.
The last post in that thread where you said that matchmaking was working as intended was on August 1. The MMR fix I think went live on August 3 (if JTâs twitter post happened the same day). His youtube video from August 2 said that the fix had not yet been applied.

I was talking about you in this thread as you have been repeating the MM thing with me in the very same thread despite that I told you that the previous MM was working as intended hence he failed to find a match.

You claimed that the prior system was good

how you previously said the system should work if designed well.
Even many articles that cover this story also stated it was the matchmaking unable to find suitable opponents for him due to his high MMR and win rate. I think he only lost like 3 times in 400+ battles.
He just said MMR system works as intended, afterwards Blizzard added new things to the system for not leaving players outside. Which again doesnât mean system is broken they just added new criterias.

I think he only lost like 3 times in 400+ battles.
I wonder why
