They can check their server pop against other stats of when people last played and whatnot. There are plenty of daily things to check. If the player is not doing them, either they uninstalled or they aren’t able to play, I mean pay.
I’m positive all those tracking systems were up and running long before the game released. They need the data to mold more ways to take peoples money.

When Immoral came out we all bounced to check it out, within 3 weeks my friends list was down to just a couple left playing it to now I am lucky to see 1-2 people a day out of hundreds playing it.
That ship has sailed.

You never know, though more likely he loaned it from someone else on the internet or personal life. It is just stupid enough and full of weird things like a chinese monk in china training people in karate, that the stupidity and lack of cultural sensivity of the person making that remark makes sense though.
