Define what PRIVATE LOOT means before asking for it

Yeah so it should only be Uniques, some set items, and high runes that trigger the roll.

9 times out of 10 baal will drop all garbage. So what exactly is the point of rolling these items in the first place? It’s only that 1 time out of 10 something decent will drop, and when it does this simple system will trigger a roll event.

As for socketables, rare items that are actually good, that’s up to the patient players to sift through these and get rewarded for doing so, other players will usually ignore them to not waste time. The roll system shouldn’t be triggered for these kinds of items because that’s the game doing the work for the player.

And then you will go to forums and complain about that system when it rolled atma’s wall to you and arach mech to another player 10 times in a row.

I am sure the Blizzard team is competent to iron those kinks out. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, just increase drop rate… oh, wait!

You know what I just realized? This WoW based loot system would open up a new kind of game run for players: Item runs. Where everyone in the game mode that is PARTIED up, can split up between Mephisto, Andy, Pit runs, Pindle runs, etc and anyone in the party will get the roll toggle when anything notable drops. This would be a fun mode between friends to gather as much loot as possible and then split the finds with each other after 100 games or so.

You see this loot system opens up way more variety for players. It’s primary use is for exp runs like Baal runs where baal is going to drop trash 95% of the time, but then you can also toggle it on to create these party based loot runs with friends.

This has been the most constructive thread i’ve read so far with a more clear vision of what is meant by personal loot!
Thank you for that Nickie!
Personally i am against the personal loot system in D2R and allow me to simply copy& paste my posts i have made in other threads in a new post if you are interested.
However i respect and accept other opinions regardless if i agree or disagree.

An combined version of the current Diablo II and the WoW system are yet to be tested in a game like Diablo. They work fine individually in different environments (games), however a combined version may have effects and challenges that need to be polished.

  1. How would you implement such system in the current game and how would you tackle challenges along the way?
Some of the answers to the other questions below will certainly be part of the answer here.

  2. Where would the option be to activate / deactivate the system?

    • on game creation
2a. Just a checkbox or a drop down menu to be flexible for more suggestions.
  3. If FFA is not replaced how would you manage the announced ladder system?

  4. How would you promote the trading aspect of the game?

There is a suggestion that make a seperate realm for it however it wasn’t specified at all what a realm means.

  1. Would you consider the same if challenges along the way turn out to be problematic?

Thank you again and i would appreciate answers to the questions, so we can continue the constructive discussion.

Thanks for the response. I came to realize this WoW based system won’t work, simply because waiting for everyone to choose their option will end up being counter productive because where does the item go after (you can’t expect the player to wait by the corpse for the item).

UNLESS! and this might be a decent unless, UNLESS the player has the option to select the item from the loot roll window (after they’ve won) and place it in their inventory, or the item is automatically placed in their inventory, if they don’t have enough space, it drops by the corpse.

Same realm as everyone else. It’s an optional setting when you create a room. I don’t think there’s enough time for them to figure out challenges on the way. They would need to beta test this feature, so therefor I don’t think it’s happening :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The way it fits with the current game is every item drops normally on the floor for everyone except for set items, uniques, and runes (imagine if you’re playing hardcore mode and every low decent item counts, so you would want to roll for something small like bonesnap maul or sigons shield). It wouldn’t affect the trade economy at all. It’s the exact same thing as FFA loot except it’s a little more forgiving for who actually receives the drop. And it’s completely optional. Most people would just play FFA loot, but I don’t think they would even mind playing this kind of loot system either.
