D4 trading - why it needs to be limited or not at all

Oof. What an unorginal, generic, untrue come back.

If you spent even a moment reading my interactions with other people you’d would already know that disagreement isn’t a big for me.

I care about logic and reasoning, and when you lack those. I don’t dignify people woth responses.

Has nothing to do with them disagreeing with me. It’s how they construct the counter point. Again, if you spent 5 minutes where I literally called out someone for entirely misrepresenting my point of view.

It had nothing to do with their disagreement but flawed logic and not even getting the premise of my argument correct.

Soooo. If you’re gonna try to insult me back, at least say something that’s some what truthful.

Go ahead. Respond again. I know you wanna.

Seriously, there’s no point in adhering to anything D3 players want. They will play absolutely anything with the Diablo logo.

If trading isn’t healthy, why is D2 still going after more than 20 years, while D3 was dead months after release? D2 currently has more active players than D3.

Generic response that players that still play the game therefor the game isn’t dead.

Lawl, you so dumb!

This is sarcasm.

D4 drops need to be as brutal as D2’s and no character class smart drops. And I want as open a trading system as possible, but not so much that jsp and their fool’s gold is used.

Good point, i would to point that no other arpg has “smart loot” and smart loot was only needed after because Blizzard developed a competely and utter broken item system.

But wait, i don’t have a degree in programming therefor my argument is invalid.

More sarcasm by the way.

It blows my mind that Blizzard could go from the greatest arpg of all time to the worst of all time. D3 sales aside, the game isn’t that good. And by not good I mean it is mind numbinglly boring. D2, at clvl 97, even identifying a blue amulet can lead to awesome feel good juice in the brain.

that’s actually correct. finding usefullness was everywhere because stats were not boring and people could trade what they didnt need, for what they did need.

If the trading system is anything like d3, then just dont have trading.

Finding a +2 to barb skills and 30 strength blue amulet (Atlas Amulet of the Berserker) is a melee damage dealers dream come true. The great thing about it is it’s never going to drop for a character below clvl 95. If a ww or frenzy barb did get it, he is going to kill much faster making the next 4 levels easier. So yes, you are correct, usefulness and significance on the simplest things at the highest levels. I want D4 to be this intricate with itemization details.

Here’s some objective facts for you. I would’ve fired almost everyone who worked on Diablo 3. I don’t care if you bring up that it sold 30 million copies. That is not the only definition success. If you sold 30 million copies but your player numbers after a year aren’t even in the hundred thousands. You screwed up big time.

It means your game failed to hold the same amount of the longevity of the previous two games.

Here’s also another objective fact.

They completely and utterly botched the items in Diablo 3 to the point they have to fix it in Reaper of Souls. Excuse me? WHAT?! How do you take a critical acclaimed game who many considered for it’s time the pinnacle of ARPGS and botch it that badly.

This is why I hate “You’re not a developer, you don’t know anything.” I don’t need to be a developer to point out that having intelligence be the main stat on a barbarian only weapon was stupid idea and should have never been discussed let alone implemented. You can call me rude or disrespectful, you’re not refuting my argument just attacking my character and guess what?

When you screw up that badly, that poorly, you get fired. Game developers are just like everyone else and people idolize them for no reason. They are there to do a job and they completely and utterly failed on almost every level to the point that had to make the entire next expansion fixing the damn mistakes of the original launch of the game and fixing mistakes that should have never existed in the first place.

If I go into work tomorrow and for the next two weeks decided to burn every piece of food I cook in a 4 million dollar restaurant. Guess what? I would be fired.

People in this thread act like Smart Loot is needed for an APRG and it was invention, while completely forgetting the utter and complete failure that Smart Loot was intended to fix…

Name one other ARPG on the market that needs a smart loot system. Go ahead, I’ll wait. I’m more than happy to be proven that I’m wrong.

Seriously, if the only thing they did with Diablo 3 was copy and pasted the item scheme from Diablo 2 write a new story, updated the visuals, animations, but kept everything almost 1:1 identical to Diablo 2 it would’ve been a way better game.

Before someone claims “I’m a diablo 2 fanboy” I don’t think Diablo 2 is the perfect game. I still think it’s one of the best games designed at the time of it’s release but it still had flaws.

But what did Diablo 3 team do? TAKE EVERYTHING AND THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW. And not only throw it out the window but also at the same BREAK THE GAME WAS A UTTER JOKE OF ITEMS.

Literally, all the they add to at the BARE minimal was copy and paste Diablo 2 and given it a fresh coat of point while making areas of the game more variable. (Because farming 30 baal runs wasn’t exactly fun.)

And it would’ve been 100% a better game, and this isn’t coming from a Diablo 2 fanboy, this is just an objective fact and you don’t get to hide “HUR, DUR, MUH SUBJECTIVE OPINION.” as if there is no such thing as an objective reality.

(Anyone who tries to argue otherwise. I will flat out ignore. Not because I can’t stand disagreement, but because you’re wrong and I’m not going to waste my time explaining it. It’s just not worth it for me.)

But these new developers act if their vision of the game is superior is nothing but sheer unadulterated arrogance. The fact that the kids who probably never played Diablo 1 and 2 at the prime of their stage really, honestly, truly believe Diablo 3 is a superior game is truly mind boggling.

I’m not saying everything Diablo 3 did is bad but when comparing the games side by side Diablo 2 it falls flat in more areas than it should and the only thing that holds Diablo 2 back in a lot of areas is AGE and AGE alone. It wasn’t made in 2014, it was made in the late 90s, early 2000s.

They didn’t have the same type of tools and hardware as we do now.

(Anyone who claims I’m a Diablo 2 fanboy, but refusing to admit. I’m also going to ignore.)

This is honestly sad given this statement.

Just because someone says “dead game” nobody is actually saying that nobody is playing it, of course people are playing but when you sell 30 million copies and you’re barely getting 20,000 players to sign in for seasons. (If you focus on the numbers I am using when I say 20,000 players instead focusing on the argument I am making. I’m going to ignore you.)

Do you really think that’s a success because Diablo 2 had a larger player base for much longer, way longer than Diablo 3 EVER did and Reaper of Souls sales which I believe are barely 3 million only, which again the original game sold 30 milllion, expansion didn’t even sell close to half, not even a quarter of that.

In fact, if you google this notice how they don’t give an exact number outside of the first week? They say “combined” only, as if they’re hiding the real numbers from us. Which we already know Blizzard is doing because they don’t want to know the terrible state of their games.

And if their games weren’t in terrible states then you need to explain why their stock market dropped over 50% and only spiked back up, not because they made a new game but they released an old game and the good reception CoD has gotten which isn’t even made by Blizzard.

Imagine making a game so terrible that you spend the entire expansion is fixing the previous mistakes.

Remember when Diablo 2 had to do that with their expansion?

OR Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, etc? OH, RIGHT, they didn’t have to do that because the developers aren’t entire hacks.

Diablo 3 channels have for the most have completely died off, the traffic it gets on google search are pathetically low, the viewer count on twitch is pathetic.

(In b4 someone mentions Ryhkker who adapted to make his channel a gaming news channels because Diablo 3 was failing hardcore)

Outside of sheer sale numbers alone Diablo 3 was a failure compared to Diablo 1 and 2 in almost every way, which is a shame since these game came out nearly a decade ago by the time D3 rolled around.

Which again, if you only view sales numbers as success. You have a very limited definition success. I would be completely ashamed if my game sold 30 million and only 45,000 players are actually playing it.

Edit: Holy crap did I rant here.

yeah, you did haha. I’m tired and can’t read it right now, i will tomorrow. I respect your opinion, i just disagree with it  For me personally and many other players D3 RoS has been a huge success and we still play to this day. To you it wasn’t a huge success. just a matter of perspective i guess.

Diablo 1 set world records for sales, and the multiplayer. D2 was the highest selling video game of all time shortly after it was released, with its expansion (LOD) coming in second. Of course, many games have surpassed those numbers now, but gaming as a whole has grown exponentially.

D3 set a record for the highest amount of preorders, because D2 was so beloved. But 99% of the playerbase quit within 3 months.

You can log into D2 and see 50k people online on the weekends. D3 won’t even give you a number.

D3 was an utter failure. The people still playing it will seriously play anything with the Diablo name. The devs need to listen to the original fanbase, not the current group of D3 fanboys who will buy any Diablo game anyway.

And that is really the key to the whole argument. In a free trade environment they still would be able to find items by themselves in a game with reasonable drop rates.

Regardless of if there were two separate game modes, one with trade and one without. If the game mode with trade allowed faster progression than the one without, they would still complain even though they would still be able to obtain their items themselves.

So that argument is just a smokescreen for the real objective which is their desire for high drop rates.

not quite, i won’t play immortal… Probably… :stuck_out_tongue: gotta have some standards.

I don’t think everything in Diablo 3 was bad. But majority of it was and there was many mistakes in Diablo 3 that should have NEVER happened.

Seriously, intelligence as a main stat for Barbarian, seriously what the hell? Who in the right mind thought was even remotely acceptable?

First of all, stop being insulting towards people who like Diablo 3. It does not make for a healthy conversation and it’s plain tribalism where people aren’t looking at the validity of someone’s argument but rather to which tribe they belong to.
