D3 came out May 2012.
PoE came out Oct 2013.
How in the world is D3 a clone of a came that came out after it?

Because PoE and D3 look almost identical to eachother. Serisouly open two streams of each game. I don’t mean say that D3 copied PoE while I’m sure they both did in some regards(why wouldn’t you take something good and add it to the game); I mean that PoE seems to be the better of the two and because they are so similar most people will just play the better game. Poeple still playing D3 will mostly all go to D4 and I doubt that the PoE people will come start playing D3… Most people who started playing PoE did so because it looked more like D2. Which ultimately its not its MUCH more like D3.
fun fact: David Brevik would have ruined D1(and probably D2) if left to his own devices.
You contradict yourself in your own comment, try harder next time.
Agreed but he and the other people involved made it great. He like everyone else has terrible ideas and great ideas but the man had tons of experience that cant be pulled from any longer which is a shame. I don’t think anyone wanted claymation…
Lemme make it easier to understand. PoE and D3 are almost identical. It doesn’t matter who copied who the fact is they are extremely similar. People who play PoE aren’t going to play D3 they are either going to play D4 or PoE2. D3 will die. Nuff said.
D2 end game has trading and pvp, which are additional things to just killing monsters. It might not have rifts and crap, but D2 was made back when people still used windows 95.
Unfortunately it is difficult to compete with the boss’ handing out the paychecks. Little do the bosses know that if making a quality game became priority 1, profit would register off the charts.
Can’t wait for all the people to be riding unicorn mounts and have massive devil wings on their backs. Seriously micro transactions in D4 is reason enough to be skeptical of the design choices going forward.
I’d like d2 remastered in all honesty and it was a little heartbreaking to hear they scrapped it for D4
D2 fan boy are you still in the Time Warp?
Someones having fun. Nah when I heard it was scrapped it was more along these lines https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm7vnOC4hoY
I don’t mind microtransactions when they’re cosmetics. I think the biggest turn off for me in D3 even after I stopped playing it was the absurd increase in numerical values. Watching my younger brother play d3 on the xbox and seeing absurd numbers like 100,00 damage. Totally unnecessary. Reading these forums, 500 BILLION TOUGHNESS? what on earth is the reasoning behind this? Power gamers extract and discern from the mechanics, not some artificially inflated numeric value. I don’t “feel stronger” because all of a sudden instead of the game revolving around semi-calculable numbers, it disastrously got amplified to an silliness.
Microtransactions are better than a subscription fee I think. It seems to be the way most modern gaming platforms are conducting profitability. I am confident that microtransactions won’t enable pay to win aspects, so if in doing so it eliminates or alleviates rather pay to play, whatever floats your boat. Different strokes for different folks.

What if the D2 players who doesn’t like trading and PvP? PvE is their only option to play D2 and they are going to kill monsters over and over. Don’t forget at that time/era, not everyone has a decent internet connection either, so they are going to play single player mode.
D4 Devs, please don’t listen to the community this guy.
when I heard it was scrapped
When did Blizzard ever say they were remaking D2. All they said was they were going to make it run on current systems.
I’m not going to look for the exact place I saw it but there were talks of them doing D2 Remastered and their response was that it would be better for them to make a game that catered to all the player base instead and decided to put all their focus on making D4.
If you have no proof = BS
Don’t really agree with your opinion on D3. It’s entirely different from D2, so I’m pretty sure they did “make their own game”. The community hated it and they made a few changes to improve the game (items and paragons), overall though you can’t save a turd sandwich by putting premium bread on it.
If they hadn’t tried to do their own thing so much (they know way better than the community was the attitude at the time) then the game would be in a much better spot. In fact, the devs pretty much strongly differentiated from what the community wanted and from D2. No idea what you’re talking about really. You’re just wrong dude.
If the ARPG is going to be in the Diablo world, then there should be some similarities with D2 as there are. However, D3 changed some thing for the sake of change. They tried to improve things that were already great and failed miserably. They did combat and monsters quite well but the overall game just fell flat. D2 after 20 years is more exciting than D3, so you know it’s messed up bad!
There is so much polish on D3 but the itemization, skill system, leveling system, pvp, multiplayer game system, trading just destroy the game. I love the merc interactions, the combat is quite cool, and some of the environments are really well done. I don’t find a surplus of unicorns to be a problem in this game, it’s mostly the other things I mentioned: itemization, skill system, leveling system, pvp, multiplayer game system (what a joke, just make it single player only), trading. Like, Jay Wilson must have thought “these were great in D2, let’s just change them so they aren’t too similar! This is a new game and these dumb customers don’t actually know what they want. They want things simplified.” No dude, i effing want all my skills in a tree without a cap on the amount of skills I can use. I don’t want itemization dumbed down to +stats and damage. I don’t want you to remove charms, jewels, runes, and socketed items. I don’t want you to remove leveling games. I don’t want you to remove lvl 99. These things made D2 great and it’s so frustrating that they just destroyed the game in an effort to simplify. D2 wasn’t complex!!! In fact, D3 now with these paragons and torments and rifts is getting quite complicated but in a very bad way.
Right. I think you need to go interact with some real life people dude the keyboards getting to you.
