Meh this sounds good at first, but then you realize you are buffing the cheating andies again, I feel like no matter what the devs would/could/will do they benefit the most from it.
Personal loot is against the game design of Diablo 2, just go play other games instead of being so selfish and entitled that you want to change this game to suit you.
It was designed with FFA loot on purpose. Youâre supposed to get a rush and fight over loot and grab it before others. Itâs balanced that way because if there are other players you are getting better drops.
If personal loot was a thing, it would be easily exploited by just always having a full game and everyone getting better drops with no downside.
Youâre essentially asking for Diablo 2 to become a different game. If you donât like the game donât play it. Stop trying to ruin it with your hand-hold mechanics.
Yeah, that purpose being not enough memory for server to handle player interactions. In Original Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction not even stash items or player inventories are synchronized for preventing dupes, unlike Diablo 3. Thatâs 90s internet infrastructure and capabilities for you.
No, it wasnât. David Brevik, the original D2/D2:LoD game director, has explained this. Instanced loot had not been invented yet. FFA loot was not selected over instanced loot since instanced loot did not exist yet. The Wright brothers did not select did not have the option to choose a jet engine at Kitty Hawk.
Moreover, Brevik has said repeatedly if he could go back in time he would replace FFA loot with instanced loot. To see multiple links to verify Brevikâs words see:
And? I mean, Brevik hasnât been involved with Blizzard for many years, so who cares about that old hippies opinion? He didnât want pvp in D2 either (you can thank Max Schaefer for keeping that in btw) And I doubt D2 would have gone on 20+ years without pvp. So donât take every word from Brevik as gospel. He is but one of three people who made D2 happen, and people tend to overlook Erich and Maxâs role, and keeping Brevik in check with reality.
As for FFA vs Ploot, it would be in the interest of the devâs to go forward with the original recipe. The game has survived for this many years, on that formulae, and the players who are to ensure the longevity of D2R is not the D3 players who wants their cookies on every run, and who will return to D3 once theyâve gotten their fill of nostalgia, leaving the D2 players with a game they didnât ask for.
Sure, if the devâs wants to put it in as an optional toggle, go for it, no harm in that.
Just donât alter the game mechanical wise. It is a remaster, not a remake, and such, I would expect the same game with new looks.
The fire of justice is burning bright⊠and we are the flames !
Believe in the Shield !
Brevik said the game stod the test of time. means. it worked with out ploot for 20 years. = no ploot needed.
Necromancer take it to the D2R forum.
this post/thread is not in ther sadly.
It died on this forum 2 months ago why did you bring it back.
havent been in her long. i got a notic in this thread.
this year he said. he was not sure if he would change the loot. . same clip wher he says the game stood the test of time⊠so yer he obv changed hes mind, just like he did many times before.
obv does. if the game really needed it, it would not stood the test of time.
in D2R. I said that he has reiterated that if he could go back in time, he would replace FFA loot with instanced loot. These are two different questions.
Need is a strange word. You do not need to play video games at all. The game does not need optional ploot, it simply would make the game better and more enjoyable for many players.
Remember only 38% voted to keep D2R FFA only in a poll with nearly 9,000 respondents where >99% self-identified as D2/D2:LoD players.
