Haha yeah maybe, but I’m not sure I’ve run into bona-fide purists on the resurrected forums. Seems like a remaster by it’s existence would be an antithesis for a purist.
i dont see any reason why the stash shouldnt be the same size as lod, as well as the shared stash in classic. yeah it will change the game slightly but ultimately it changes nothing. it will however make the game easier to play but not easier. which is what i have been hearing they want to do with this remaster.
It honestly doesn’t make sense in any context. Classic is 4 acts, LoD is 5 acts, but they’re both being remastered as 1.14, so this “original” argument seems very silly. Neither Classic nor LoD are in any way close to their original forms.
Seems very off.
Surprise trade-off: Classic’s uniques now don’t have level requirements and monsters lost their immunities!
And no synergies…haha…
Just hold nagel and manald in your inventory and whenever a unique ring drops it’s SoJ!
This is a really big mistake/oversight. Please go back again to the Dev team and share the concern listed here with 200+ responses.
I don’t think a single person has advocated for a continued small stash space for Classic D2R.
I’m actually interested in playing Classic D2 down the line (maybe even HC), as its simpler, and has an interesting loot meta (rare polearms/chests, P Skull leech weapons). But the lack of stash space or shared tab would be devastating to my interests after playing D2R LOD with the standard QoL of the remaster.
Which makes them Trolls
i think i tried classic for all of a few minutes a long long time ago. looked at the smaller stash size went nope, deleted the character and returned to lod.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s something players who’ve only played LoD will get into, but if they added a shared stash, maybe. My first character was in Classic, but LoD was already out when I tried it, so when I bought mine I just installed the expansion right away.
yeah that is pretty much how it happened with me and d1. by the time i found out about diablo. diablo 2 lod was already out. i played a bit of d1 but it didnt last long compared to d2 back then. if i had caught d1 at release i would have played it a lot more though. lol
It is a mistake to keep the small stash size with no shared tabs for classic, imo. Gameplay is what must be preserved, but QOL that doesnt affect gameplay can be added and no one would be against that.
Thanks for all the continued support in making sure Classic isn’t left behind without QoL features guys. Even if you don’t play classic, I’m sure you can see this is an oversight. I just hope the developers realise it in time.
Well after rage level players showed here we can most likely forget about clarification from that guy. And i wont blame him honestly.
They have to make this change because bnet 2.0 closes games the moment you leave them. Thus, no one in classic will be able to mule. Using the idea of “we must keep things pure for the purists” makes no sense because of this. In the pure sense, you could mule. In the current way, however, you cannot. It’s game breaking. They have to remedy this or face massive backlash when people notice.
Yes – this is a legitimate gameplay problem. MF’ing (finding good items) is a key part of good D2 play. If the items cannot safely be transferred to other characters, it basically makes MF’ing impossible.
Also, in Classic, the best items are rares, not uniques/runes. That means that there is a much wider assortment of items that are considered strong, and more storage space (via mules or shared stash) is needed. Since characters serve more specialized roles in Classic, one paladin may find one armor optimal for their needs, while another paladin would need a different armor. Not everyone uses enigma.
I never was able to play classic because Lord of Destruction had come out as soon as I really got into gaming. Diablo 2 being my first huge game. I was looking forward to playing as a classic player but this muling problem is going to completely prevent me from enjoying the game and being able to keep rares.
What sort of person would play a D2 remaster and not expect it would include LOD ? Why should we cater to these people?
Huh? Nobody is saying that. People want classic regular D2 in D2R to have the quality of life things that LoD will have, such as the shared stash. And it’s not about catering to certain people, it’s about offering the QoL features that they thought they were going to get. With modern Bnet, it will make transferring items by yourself impossible, they need the shared stash.
Of course it will include LoD.
It will also include 1.14 without act5, also known as ClassicD2.
These are the misconceptions that are driving the devs decision making, I believe.
The D2R team is unfamiliar with ClassicD2, as are many LoD-only players.
Please Blizzard, the devs need to reach out. Not having a shared stash for transfer of items in a 2021 release is an absolutely terrible decision.
