Cheaters on the Leaderboards

While I mostly agree with this, there would be false bans and it wouldn’t be accurate.
Sure there are cheater clans out there, but not everyone cheats.
Detection and action have proven to work in other games, not sure why the Diablo franchise struggles so much with this over the decades.

I’m talking about a (or more) proven cheater in the clan, not just an accumulation of unfounded accusations.

Except wearing blinders, it’s hard not to know.

D3 is the only multiplayer game that I play, so difficult for me to comment on this point.

There are 3 possible explanations I can think of at this time:

  1. The meager methods they HAD been using in the past, were actually preventing TONS of additional cheaters and the stuff we deal with now, would have been EXPONENTIALLY worse if literally nothing had been done at all (“Flu Shot” theory - imperfect prevention is still better than no prevention)

  2. Blizz has never cared to put in genuine effort for this particular franchise. (“Losing Battle” theory - they decided the cost of fighting wasn’t worth the meager gains)

  3. Blizz is PROFITING from cheating in this particular franchise. (“If You Can’t Beat 'Em” theory - either they take a slice from botting sites, or they periodically do “partial waves” to get botters to re-buy kind of like an informal subscription)

I will say, I’m unfortunately more inclined to believe point 3 in light of that Immortal news.

People call the “profit from cheating” tinfoil hat, but too much leans that way. If SE banned all cheaters in their first MMO, the population would drop to a quarter. Blizzard wouldn’t suffer that fate but constantly buying new keys when you get banned is still money.

the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Vulcan proverb.

It certainly would make sense given the lack if effort. Very sad that this could be a reality.

For D3, its the only revenue. Sure they threw an expansion and dlc at us, even bundles, but with no sub fees, it is financially beneficial for them to ban cheaters frequently then promote with a sale. We have seen this in the past.

Heyyy the BOT was never deleted, blizz only removed one website… (i think i already said this but still…)

Just found their new mancave… Only because i never even bothered to search for it till now…
Dunno how much blizz profits, but the bot dev gets 30k usd profit per month from this so there is no way bot will disappear, plus the “maphack” profits so its more, probably like 100k at the very least, cause they also make stuff for D4 (if i understood correctly what they posted)

sad greedy corpo doesnt want to profit actually because they dont ban them bots and cheaters, do they? XD

Sure SOME of them do get ban, but there are players cheating for YEARS on the same one account still not getting banned, cant even name them because i would get forum banned for naming them, again, just the same like getting account muted (& banned from playing in private party) for saying in game chat community that i know whos cheating and ill report em all…
Im still banned, and they are not, with some exceptions, out of 100 (+/-) i reported past 2 years, just noticed stuff while playing public games, and sometimes they are bluntly asking in LFG chat for cheaters to team, they also dont get banned that often, or not at all.

Its pretty sad to see how many people are so lazy & jealous about others they arent even willing to play the game, just botting or stuff

Nothing surprises me. Nothing was done about save wizard on PS4 either. Significantly worse cheating that what you experience on the PC version of the game. The only thing we don’t have is maphacking, but who needs it with modded gear where you can do a GR150 in ~3 seconds (force generate progress globes IN TOWN, force RG to spawn in town + modded gear that does so much damage it can 1 shot the GR150 RG in a second). Yeah, so…

Yup, That has been going on for years.
Cheaters looking for other cheaters blatantly on the on game chat!
Obviously there are logs which is why it boggles the mind that they are still unpunished when there is written evidence.

This too is a major bummer.
We should have a place to report and name names when it comes to reporting cheaters, the hell with rules. Cheating is already a violation of the ToS and cheaters should have their privileges revoked aka banned.

Yea, console is a mess. Nit sure they can win that battle. In D4, most action I have seen is “trading is removed again until we sort this out”.

I only play console. I guess it depends on which console you play. I hear some that I don’t play are horrible. I rarely see it when I played non-SSF.

they can notifed the person from Id adress and ban for ever.so Mr. “i know every thing”, blizzard thinks like you.

thats why this post. you and these 17 ppl who put ‘‘like’’ on your answer have ever played game ?.

Ive never heard of that lol. Is there video of this anywhere?

Most of us went to SSF since the game has been on a downward spiral over the last few seasons and after D4 launched. I think the botters get less joy on SSF too.

Wait for 4…

You know you’re going to

Lala laaaaaa. Done. Lol. Just be you. Thank you to THOSE two. Good joke!

Probably YouTube.

Modders are on SSF too…The first 4000 ranks on the 4 man LBs are all modders…if not more. It’s an utter joke.

All the top players are using Save Wizard for unlimited mats and 10k paragon…

Since paragon his hidden on the PS4 and XBOX, you can’t spot the cheaters unless you have friended them and run a game with them.

I need to start the blood & wine expansion LOL…

Sounds like some console systems are far worse than others. I’ve only met 2 modders in my time before SSF. One reason LBs in this game are useless.

Yes you do. One of the best expansions I’ve ever played.

LBs aren’t useless. Blizzard is, since they are NOT doing their job removing them from the LBs and liaising with Sony to have their PSN accounts banned for PSN TOS conditions. It’s a very simple issue and it is very easy to deal with.

As it currently stands, XBOX is the best console platform to pay D3 on. Microsoft does listen, and you can report accounts directly (for cheating). Microsoft is actively banning accounts in violation of their TOS. Sony does NOT present a way to report cheaters and has zero intention of doing so as it has zero intention of banning PSN accounts and losing income from PSN subs. Switch is similar to Sony and is just a messy platform.

I’ve had the game since it came out, and bought both expansions when they were released. I played the first expansion and moderately enjoyed it (I found the bosses a p.i.t.a to be honest). I suspect that I will really struggle with the blood & wine expansion, at least looking at videos on YouTube. I suspect that I will grow easily frustrated and abandon it pretty quickly. I got stuck with Alien: Isolation and abandoned that (missed a part to make a detector and couldn’t back track - silly game design). I have little tolerance for things that frustrate me.

Wait, so are saying xbox has a reporting system in place?

I dig the idea of a leaderboard. Competition helps give an object and a fun way to play with friends.
It would be very easy to parse the boards and cleanup all banned accounts but they don’t do it, not sure why.

More active bans would help cleanup the “cheaterboards” as well. They have the software and staff to easily handle this old game, but they don’t…
