Being able to bot for forgotten souls is a huge advantage this early in the season. It’s not as big as the advantage of botting for uncapped paragon, and the effect will diminish as the season progresses, but it is absolutely an unfair advantage that Blizzard is choosing to allow. I’m not sure why D3 gets banwaves once every 6+ months (does not discourage the behavior at all) when D4 is enforced much more strictly.
You would think that regardless of the chance of cheaters, now that everyone has a fairly level playing field (paragon cap) that skill should kick in over paragon botters…
Is that not the case? lol
Or are the same people that are on top just that good which is why they are on top? Not saying there are or aren’t cheaters in this game, but this season should be a bit more interesting with the paragon change.
It’s hard to overcome the 5-10% extra DPS perfect gear gets you at this stage, or the extra fishing that botting for keys can allow. Some things can be covered by skill (IE knowing pylon placement vs a map overlay just telling you where it is), but Blizzard has cultivated an environment where it is impossible to say for sure. For those of us who compete legitimately, this results in lost group play (IE not being allowed in a group if you don’t run a map overlay) and the benefits thereof, and also just general demotivation.
It is possible, but he is basically an expert on the subject.
Honestly dunno. Nintendo locks their platform down pretty tight.
I think “game license” was implied when he said account, but yes you are correct, they usually remove the specific game license from the account without touching the other games on it. I do not believe in forgiveness against cheaters however I think the entire account should be flagged and monitored because once a cheater always a cheater.
I think they totally let go of enforcing D2 and D3.
I hope they keep it up with D4 especially once leadboards get introduced in S3.
In most cases currently yes, there are some amazing players on the front pages that put the time in. There are a few filthy cheaters on there however, and many go unpunished for years. Blizz has been banning them here and there, but not efficiently enough to get rid of some of the obvious cheaters.
The new paragon cap does a great job at keeping the playing field more even, but it doesn’t stop cheaters from using their other 3rd party software to automate gameplay.
This is exactly why I started the old thread 7 years ago on the original forums.
I got fed up with cheating becoming a norm, and requested that action be taken against those that exploited, cheated, botted or macro’d their way up the ranks.
The new D3 team can easily stop this by banning more frequently.
This topic has been circulating around just like having a paragon cap and I am glad to see this addition.
I hope they continue the paragon cap into all future seasons, with tweaks or not.
I think 800 paragon points is more then enough to let a build shine and give the rolls on your gear more importance.
Bots that farm all day and night and grab full primal gear still have an unfair advantage, it is just less significant then before.
We have an entire history of leaderboards from past seasons. There hasn’t been a single player on the current history of leaderboards that has had full primal gear.
And the difference between great gear and good enough gear is about 2-3GRs.
Yeah, and what’s the practical difference between 2 GR behind and whatever number behind you would be with uncapped paragon? You’re still behind.
Mobs have 17% more health per gr tier, so maybe its even only 1 gr difference between good gear and great gear.
There was a discussion before this season how this will wipe all the cheaters because cheaters dont have skill, and now the legit players will prevail. Some said that some cheaters also have skill, but they wouldnt have it. Now it seems that some cheaters do have skill.
People who said that the paragon cap will wipe botters off the leaderboard do not have a strong idea of how endgame play works.
You’re only behind if the person actually knows how to run a GR at low paragon with a glassy build.
Uncapped paragon is 8+ GRs behind. You can’t make up that difference with better gameplay.
And since I’m not seeing alot of the high paragon people from the last few seasons on the leaderboards, they didn’t even try.
i think i know who you are by your commonly known name with this clue, “We” and “AU”
You are Celtic08
Who are you? … I stopped using that name post 2019
I really missed Celtic08. 12k account banana-ed in non season and got banana-ed many times in seasons, S28 being the latest one that got banana-ed.
Stop cheating dude
That is not me. I stopped using Celtic08 alias since play way too much back in the days. Abella is requested by wife and to focus more in IRL.
Same guy. you already exposed yourself.
I mean Diablo 3 is a small community. Especially the gamers who play alot knows each other well.
Who are always gone every season from banana waves.
I do think its not wise to argue with Metalhead since his threads do draw alot of attention and people like me who are aware of ban waves can recognize who are the known accounts that always go missing from leaderboards.
Metalhead is talking about cheaters and cheaters who are smart should never reply and argue with him.
Metalhead himself is ambiguous and hides a lot of facts. I have nothing to hide and do not cheat. You believe what you want to believe. Coincidences are rare, but there are a lot of AU players and certainly Boston Celtic who won the ring in 08 aka KG fan isn’t exclusive to myself in AU.
I have nothing against anti cheat, but big issues with shady figures like Metalhead. Its another story if other genuine characters such as dmkt or Rage is initiating these posts.
Nothing personal to you as I’ve agreed with a lot of things you’ve said in multiple threads, but I wonder how someone can consider a person genuine when they make comments like “I’m right because I’m famous on the forums”. For starters, that statement is very cringe and just because people know you, doesn’t make you right.
No. Instant ban, all of them. As soon as they are caught. Don’t let them hold positions on leaderboards, even before seasonal end.
The best way to deter cheaters, is to punish them and enforce the rules with an iron fist.
Sure can’t argue with that. However this costs a lot of manpower and money to do.
Doesn’t sound like a reasonable business decision for an 11 year old game that doesn’t generate revenue anymore
As much as I would love for this to be how things are, I can’t help but wonder why some companies are so hesitant to do this. Square Enix are weird in this regard. They gladly allow repeat offenders to return because they buy all new licenses, which is income. At the same time, one of their two MMOs, if they perma-banned cheaters like that, the population of the game would be cut by 75%. So instead, you put on a facade for the public to make it sound like you’re out there enforcing justice.
Blizzard are just not competent when it comes to things like this. I’ll still never forget my short-lived WoW ban back in 2010 for “power leveling” when all I was doing was applying my free levels from recruit-a-friend. It took 3 GMs before one finally apologized and unbanned me. The first two with their “we conducted a thorough investigation” crap.
