Changes to embedding pictures in posts

I know there was a recent change to the forum software as we had issues where it wasn’t showing which sub-forum posts were in whilst you read them but did it also change how embedded picture links work? The reason I ask can best be demonstrated by two posts of mine on the EU forums…

On this post, the first picture can be clicked on and a larger version will be shown, maximised to fit within the resolution you’re viewing the forums at…

On this post, the picture cannot be clicked on at all…

In both posts I used the exact same linking format, i.e.

First post…

I Don’t know but I just can’t embed nor use direct links, nothing, a message pop up and tell me “you can’t embed media items in a post”, “you can’t use direct links in a post”, there’s no way I can share a picture.

… and knowing is half the battle!

That’s because only people with Trust Level 3 can directly embed pictures into the forums.

For everyone else…

  1. Copy the URL to the clipboard
  2. Paste the URL into your forum post
  3. Highlight the URL in your post
  4. Click the </> button in the editor
  5. This will turn your URL into pre-formatted text
  6. Whilst not clickable, the URL will be properly formatted so others can copy / paste it like this… http://www.ThisIsAnExample.com/HowToMakeLinks.htm
