Ceiling on GR levels

Where do you guys expect or want the ceiling to be on solo builds? Personally, I would like to see at least one build (if not more) that can hit 140+ solo for each class. And I don’t mean easily, only for those who are devoted and hardcore about the game. Those same build can say easily hit 120 to 130 but for those who want to push it can cap at 140+.

I think this would slightly narrow the gap between solo play and group play. Also, seeing that the highest GR level is 150, getting up to 130 to 140+ I think would be satisfying after several years of play. That it’s a level that you feel some sort of accomplishment.

Being that the ceiling is 150, I would say 150. Should it be easy to get there? Of course not.

Ideally, I would like to see solo builds hitting GR150 but unsure how the rest of the community would feel about that. Would they think if that happened, the game has gotten too easy and too much power creep?

Do you people realize you can skip half the GRs as soon as you get your 6 piece bonus?

I want to see a video of this. Soon as someone gets their 6 piece set from Hadrig in the start of the season, they can do GR75? That is technically halfway. Or are you assuming they will have all the required add-ons for that set by then? Just wondering where you are drawing that line??

Or are we talking about finding the last piece of the 4th set for that class, which by then they should have all the pieces for all the sets, as well as some paragon ground out, and some gems leveled up…

And we all know that every set is the same in power exactly, so won’t matter what class or set will it? hmmmm

Where do you draw that line? Just curious.

Are you actually trying to argue that GR70 and below isn’t trivial difficulty?

Doesn’t GR scale exponentially? So the last half is going to way more challenging than the first half?

For one thing, 70 is not halfway to 150… And trivial to you doesn’t mean trivial to everyone.

So stop making assumptions that all players are equal, finding gear is equal or time spent getting to a point is equal.

Because its not.

Just saying.

I can’t say for certain that every set in the game can clear 70 with just the 6 piece, true. 70 isn’t EXACTLY half of 150, wow you sure showed me.

The HP of mobs increases by 17% per GR rank and is cumulative.
Let’s assume a guardian at GR1 has 1,000,000 HP.

GR1 Boss HP
1,000,000

GR70 Boss HP
1,000,000 * (1.17)^70 = 1,000,000 * 59,294 = 59,294,000,000

GR150 Boss HP
1,000,000 * (1.17)^150 = 1,000,000 * 16,899,710,380 = 16,899,710,380,000,000

16,899,710,380,000,000 / 59,294,000,000 = 285,016 times as much HP

So, yeah, GR70 is nowhere close to halfway to GR150.

I’d like to see a GR75 clear while wearing nothing but 6 piece set and some random items. No other items giving massive damage boosts or mitigations allowed. Do a GR75 clear with that and I might believe you.

Now compare this to D2 LoD:

Baal on Hell = 493,701 HP

And people wonder why we can’t have balanced sets or legendaries and blame power creep

In fairness, we should use the Pandemonium Event ubers as the comparison point. Who have all of… 650,000-660,000 life.

Thanks , didn’t know that.

1-hit with my java ^^

Well it was sure the case for my UE DH, and also for my impale DH.
Also the vyr wiz was laughable easy to get to 90 with just some basic items for the build.

That scaling law only applies after GR70, I think the percents are different from GR1-70.

Edit: Nevermind, this is correct, 17% per rank!

As an aside, I think the GR150 cap might be a limitation of the datatype used for life in the game: double precision integers. The maximum size of an unsigned 64-bit integer is 2^64-1 and that equals ‭18,446,744,073,709,551,615‬.

Now note the health on current GR rift guardians at GR150: 2,084,641,688,746,200,000 (example taken from Diablo 3 Forums )

According to this example, after another 14GRs (which is GR164), this monster’s hp would be BEYOND the double precision integer limit! So from a technical standpoint, the developers cannot easily bump the GRs beyond around 160.

Maybe the best times for D3 are to come, one never know…

Nope, the monster health increases 17% per level throughout the GR scale, from 1 to 150.

Yeah with 20 affixes on (your weapon) it and inventory full of charms…
