Cant initialize game

all of a sudden i canp play d3 get error message that says game d3d wont initialize

tried reinstalling and a bunchof other stuff wont do i need to do

Try forcing the game into Windows mode.

Click the gear icon on the launcher, next to Play.
Game Settings
Select Additional command line arguments
Add -w in the textbox that appears and click done

Try starting the game now.

I think we’ve seen this before. Just click “ok” and continue. If the “bug” is the same as seen before…or perhaps you click “retry” when the message comes up…

I get this occasionally. In fact, I had it happen just recently. If you notice, the second sentence in the error message says: “Click OK to retry”. I just click OK and the game starts without issue. So, I figure it worked on the second try.

You might also check that your video drivers are up-to-date.

If you can’t get into the game, then try @BehindTimes’ suggestion above.

I don’t even click OK when this shows up, I just press ENTER

However, forcing some mode and/or resolution on start-up most usually helps to fix this.

I forgot to add that I always play in Fullscreen. Not Windowed or Windowed (Fullscrreen).

I can’t remember now many times I have got that error. In over 13yrs I got it many times. Like Perusoe said just click OK and move on.

Over the years I have learn I don’t get bent out shape on some of the small stuff. Yes if the game doesn’t run after clicking the OK button. Then you have something else going on.

But if it runs it move likely a resolution problem. Try playing around with your resolution on both the desktop and in game.

I have Asus 35” wide monitor. I have a problem if I run the refresh rate at the highest level. I will get a black screen for 10 sec. If I lower it just a little it runs fine. Did I try to see why NO!!!.

I have said many times just put the error message in a Google search. You more likely you find your answer.

This error has been in D3 since release.. they never fixed it.
