No, I’m arguing that FFA clickfest is bad. I have never once said personal loot is the solution, and in fact I have repeatedly said there are other solutions to explore, AND that there needs to be anti-leeching countermeasures as well, which would eliminate the problem of someone running an 8-box as well.
Clarification: I am not advocating for removing FFA loot in D2R. I am suggesting a selectable option for FFA or timed loot or personal loot per party. If you like FFA loot, pick that and play with like-minded players. If you prefer personal loot, pick that and play with like minded players.
Did you mean charms? You don’t seem to know the game very well either, calling them totems.
But there is no clickfest. Nobody does loot runs in groups. There is no botclicker. Even if there is one it’s for crap loot in Baal’s throne room. Why? Why do you need that ugly rare item that does nothing?
Who is trolling now?
You. :V But thanks for playing.
But you haven’t even played the original game. Why are you trying to change the core mechanics of a game that you don’t even care about?
Oh? Were you in my house twenty years ago spying on me that you would know what game I did and didn’t play a lot?
Would you like to offer proof for your assumptions?
Where was the clickfest at? Exact location.
So the last time you played is 20 years ago.
Some people bought D2 20 years ago, played it for 30 hours, and decided its not something they enjoy.
21 years pass by.
These people purchase D2R, trying to bend D2R to something they wanted 21 years ago.
Got it.
It was Diablo runs, before the expansion came out. Then it was Baal runs. There was that weird period of time where people were actually farming Mephisto but for a reason I cannot recall that didn’t stay popular.
Also… we know for a fact that D2R is adding D3-style “rifts”, as it’s on the store page of the game. These random dungeons will almost assuredly be where people go to farm loot now, and they will feature bosses with jumbled and randomized traits and abilities. Meaning, clickfests.
Ok, cool, have any ideas? It’s a pretty delicate thing to try to change. I thought the boss ranged loot pickup was an OK idea, at least. I also thought that boss loot could volcano randomly around the area so its not all concentrated on one pile, but that would essentially turn into personal loot, as people would just get what landed near them.
Any ideas? If you can come up with some that don’t fundamentally change how loot is acquired but lessens the quickclicking, cool =)
Mephisto in any circumstance was a super easy kill compared to other bosses but it’s drop rate was changed to reflect the glitch spot.
I believe it’s iLvl was dropped as well.
Are you sure? I think that you are referring to D4.
What are you smoking?
The “Rift” reference on the D2R purchase page is a reference to D3, which you get from purchasing D2R “Prime Evil Collection Edition”.
D2 and Rifts lol.
All those people that want weird monkazz stuff will get MOD support so you can create your own mods and loot etc.
All that being said, IMO, they really botched the “Collectors Edition” of D2R. In Starcraft Remastered, you got a special skin for the main building from purchasing the SC Remastered Version. In D2R however, all the Collectors version gives you is D3 Junk, that people either already have or don’t want lol. No one purchased the collectors edition, except people that really wanted the D3 pet and wings.
We farmed Mephisto repeatedly primarily because he was extremely easy to get to with maphack, and then exploit from afar with Firewall (he couldn’t get to you), and we never did that in groups with randoms. In fact, we never farmed any loot with randoms. That would be asking for trouble.
Baal throne room was very late in the game. That was a clickfest for noobs who needed gear because everyone was just standing on top of where the mobs spawned, and then there was the lag that immediately preceded the spawn that prevented you from clicking. It only dropped crap, though, which is why we didn’t care. We didn’t do baal runs for the loot, we did it for the XP because Cow Level was made obsolete by then.
You are the first person I’ve read that has mentioned anything about D3 rifts in D2, so I will take what you said with a pinch of salt. I cannot find anything about it on the store page.
Like I said in my first post in this topic, the only thing personal loot will do is create an invisible barrier between people. It does not help anyone, at least not in the way you think it does. Just look at D3 for example, where nobody talks to each other, nobody interacts with each other, and nobody cares. This is of course thanks to a whole bunch of other systems in place that removes all forms of human interaction, but making it so that we don’t even see the same game anymore, e.g. items, no thanks. We don’t want it here, and we certainly don’t need it.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a selectable option to farm multiplayer games with randoms?
The way some of you guys talk about “how D2 WAS” is odd.
D2 IS NOW.
Also no one stands in the middle where the mobs spawn in the throne room before Baal unless you want to get oneshot.
People stand in a circle around that area and the only character standing where the monsters spawn is a Hammerdin, and even he is standing slightly off-center for optimal hammer flightpath.
I was a Hammardin
Not really. I mean, I get where you’re going with this question, but I’m willing to take those as “single player” and close friends campaigns. I treat it as a break from XP farming.
