I just read the surveys and it’s obvious to me now that this game will be complete trash. Too many changes from the original and not addressing how disgusting the character designs are.
Inventory and stash space increases, spell changes, mercenary changes, runeword changes, shorter seasons, non ladder runeword restrictions removed, /player x command, hotkey changes, encyclopedia, loot filter, kill trackers, toggle to see loot, tooltips, more endgame, new items and runewords. Game presented was not as advertised.
I should have know better and would like a refund. How do I do that?
contact blizzard support and just say you want a refund. real easy, will just take time waiting for a response.
But i would wait. The D2R devs have plainly stated they will not change the game in any major way and were very hesitant to even add auto-gold. A random survey isn’t going to change that. Anyone expecting radical changes is going to be sorely disappointed my friend.
“This is really a true nod to the original game. We want to preserve that game, and the structure of that game as much as we can. And if we went with the remake, it would be a completely different game.” — Lead Artist Amaral, C., Diablo 2: Resurrected Deep Dive Panel 2021 [12:48]
“At its core, we want it to still be the same. Things like the balance, the monsters, the spawn rates, the item drops, and things like that are the same.” — Lead Designer Abrahamian, A., Diablo 2: Resurrected Deep Dive Panel 2021 [14:44]
“There is still an inventory grid. There is still inventory tetris. That is core to what Diablo 2 is. Taking that away it starts to become something different.” — Lead Designer Gallerani, R., Diablo 2: Resurrected Deep Dive Panel 2021 [18:57]
This goes on and on for 45 minutes.
The kicking and screaming you’re seeing comes from but a very vocal minority that has a habit of causing toxic atmospheres when they go unmoderated (be that in the streets, or on these forums). The majority are expecting the game to be as close to the original as possible, and are willing to compromise within reason.
On one hand, they want to please everybody (and I understand that), and possibly “modernize” the game to include new features.
On the other, it will anger the hell out of thousands.
I don’t know, I still feel the safest way out for them is to keep everything true to the original, at least on launch. After all, that’s what was advertised at Blizzcon.

Even if this is a separate game mode? Blizzard has already said that FFA loot is staying. Personal loot would not be a replacement but an optional addition.
I don’t mind changes in the game, as long as they don’t repeat their Diablo 3 mistake and turn the game into EZ mode to appease the casuals that think the game is ‘too hard’ on the hardest difficulty.
I know some say “go back to the original” is not valid… But if D2:R goes sour like Diablo 3 did, I’ll do just that.
