Blizzcon will be better than it has been in like 10 years

Activision has spent the last few years destroying any credibility it had left. Pretending that it is still a top tier company is laughable.

Well, I’m not quite so negative on them but I do have a litmus test.
Every company or sports star or whatever walk of life gets into a mess of adversity, the true legends rebound with a fury. So I wait somewhat patiently to see what Blizzard does in the next few A title releases. Mediocrity will mean their true downward spiral into obscurity.

I don’t think I was ever insinuating top tier quality for Blizzard. Definitely not in the past few years. If I was, I was only suggesting it back in pre WoW days.

Literally every franchise up to WoW was basically automatically considered #1 in that game’s genre. Like I’m not even sure if that can be debated for sc1/d2(and maybe you can complain about the hero aspect of wc3…it doesn’t matter because the Custom Maps are just too good). Then WoW happened and it blew up even more than their previous titles.

I think this is the part when everything started to “decline” in a generic sense, because they attributed WoW’s success to “catering to every crowd possible” which works well for an MMO…you need to inspire with different gaming “needs” to come together in the world you created…but this really doesn’t work with other genres. It basically became the same tired old argument back in forth for communities(this game is too casual compared to TF2, or Magic the Gathering, or D2, or DoTA/LoL, or SC1). Some people love that change, some don’t…but the games became more controversial to say the least.

I can hardly say I expect whatever Diablo projects to be amazing. I can’t stand playing D3 anymore, and I won’t be playing Immortal either. Truth be told, I can rant endless about what I want to see in D4, but realistically speaking I expect the game to go in the opposite direction of what I consider “fun” aka worse than D3.

The point to me is that just because I don’t expect quality from Blizzard. Just because Blizzard looked dumb/out of touch for announcing a mobile project instead of D4…doesn’t mean like all of a sudden all gamers are going to abandon ship and not keep buying all their products as long as they come out PC. Their fanbase is too big to magically just fail, and if I’ve learned anything about reading the internet and EA/Bethesda/insert a random hated AAA company here…

Gamers are hypocrites.

hahahahahaha…(breathe) hahahahahhahahaha

The game’s are still the same genre. They’ll compete for player base.

Every game competes with every other no matter the genre. It just won’t be that crucial since the core player base will be other.

Let’s see the only thing I can confirm at Blizzcon this year.

Next WoW game, and final content for BFA

After that is a roll of the dice, I will suspect something Diablo related, but I won’t get my hopes up.

That’s as silly as your hype train.

Lord Fluffy and ThePChild (who got invited to Blizzcon this year) said their predictions based on Mike’s comment.

i expect nothing so it only can get better but i bet they still manage to disappoint me

Noone gives a fart who they are or where they’re going, and certainly not what they have to say.

THIS is how you create hype.

They are respected D3 streamers, why the hate?

Which means they’re also speculating, just like you.

I’m sure there will be movies when they have something to show. We already know that blizzard seem to think that releasing info once a year is still something from this time and day.

What’s wrong with speculating? I can speculate we all die tomorrow from a giant dragon appearing from energy collisions, because I dreamed of that last night for example. Is it something wrong with that as long as I stand behind my words and I am serious about it? Of course, no. What’s wrong is people who are trash talking and trolling.

It is always interesting how people jump to the “trolling” card when someone disagrees with them. You are getting so much grief because you are presenting your argument less as speculation and more as a foregone conclusion. All we are pointing out is your theory has as many or more holes in it than all the other theories in this thread.

All of this entire thread is all speculation. No one posting here knows anything for sure about anything. Don’t get so upset because people don’t agree with you. If you want to convince us, you need to come up with more than “Some Blizz employee says Blizzcon is going to be the best in 10 years” and some random streamers speculating on it. Streamers have no more insight into what Blizz is doing than we do.

People have been freaking out about “D4 CONFIRMED THIS BLIZZCON!!!” for like 3 or 4 years now. All we have gotten in the last 4 years is nothing, Necro DLC, nothing, and mobile trash game. We need a lot more than someone said Blizzcon is going to be cool for us to jump on the hype train.

Trolling is when those who “disagree” flee instantly when they are forced to stand behind their words.

Let me give you an example to illustrate you the difference between disagreeing and trolling.
You say A. I say not A. You say let’s have a bet then:

  • I flee. That is trolling.
  • I accept. That is disagreeing.

Point is I always stand behind my words, be it speculation or not.

You do realize they are pretty quiet this year after the fiasco last year, right? Mike’s statement is most we would get until Blizzcon.

Hype-train is moving, stop signs are not to be recognized.

Why would anyone bother with D4 anyway, better focus on making D3 RoS better by adding QoA changes that a lot of players asked for years or give us a new expansion.

I honestly doubt D4 will be a success anyway. It’ll probably end up like D3 at release an unfinished product with bugs, exploits and botters running wild, that will be patched for years…

Building hype to sell them VTs. It’s not like it’s an old trick. People should know better by now, but they fall for it all the same.

I had no expectations for Blizzcon last year. Literally none. Couldn’t have seen that DiAbLloImMoRtAl thing coming, though. so yeah, even zero expectations were met with immense disappointment.

Never forget this is a company that has sacrificed much of what it used to stand for for the sake of profit multiple times. If knowing that you still choose to hop onto that hypetrain, don’t come crying when it derails and crashes, as it so often happens in this industry.

This doesn’t mean don’t get excited. It simply means temper your expectations, and be open to surprises. Both good AND bad. Especially the bad ones, seeing how Blizzard has behaved over the course of the last year.

Nothing, but you’re stating it as facts rather than speculation.

You’ve made a claim.
I’m not convinced the claim is true.
Telling you that I’m not convinced by your claim isn’t trolling.
