It has always been that easy BTW. Back in the day, I used to have a crap blue-yellow set of gear with MF and I farmed Hell bosses in it.
That’s just one of the problems. Diablo 2 is balanced in a way that gear stops mattering as you level up. This makes it so that the only meaning behind gearing up - is for the sake of just watching higher numbers fly from bosses that you are easily killing anyway.
Well, I am struggling to beat GR120 solo though in D3 at this moment…while I just login D2 in an extremely rusty state, cleared Hell CS without dying, captured a screenshot of Diablo death just for you.
Typoed D3 but obviously meant D2, if you read the sentence prior you would understand. D2 was never a difficult game, especially not as a necro and especially not now. Your post is irrelevant.
Nope. I didn’t play it. I simply open D2 just to capture D2 screenshot as a proof for you that I am certainly played D2 before. I kinda tired with you and your kin that constant accusing me that I don’t play Diablo 2. Some of you guys even made a claim that I can’t clear Hell CS.
And I still playing D3 season though. You can view my profile if you don’t believe it.
Your comrades in the past did said that D2 is harder than D3 though.
Are you a prophet? I have the feeling you are right about it.
So you did get tricked? Well let me clear out any confusion. D2 was obviously never hard. It had a static difficulty meant to be cleared by the masses eventually and could therefore never compete with a slider that outscales you. But the question is not whether a game is hard, it’s whether it feels meaningful to complete a certain difficulty. In D3, completing GR 120 now or GR 30 5 years ago feels exactly the same.
It is a well known fact that Diablo 3 itemization is garbage. D2s on the other hand got decent itemization for a 20 year old game. D3 itemization is really an embarrassment to the series.
You may prefer Diablo 3 sets, that doesn’t change the lazy, unispiring and lacking in sophistication design, awful is the only correct word for it.
Quick history: D3 vanilla itemization was a result of incompetence, it was D2 gimped & castrated, people mass quit. 2 years later a New director, tried to salvage the wreck but ended up creating what can be described console/arcade levels of sopistication & more lazy design**(1)**. Sets and legendary effects replaced every other item base type(not that D3 had many to begin with), predetermined playstyles that removes player creativity.
**(1)**Legendary–> Identical Ancient legendary with numerical buffs—> Identical Primal legendary with perfected numerial buffs. How exciting, lol.
Legendaries(Orange & Green) drops like candy to children, after 1 or 2 days from starting fresh you’ll need to go through 100s of identical legendary items to finally get a numerical upgrade of the same named item, this is garbage design & abuse of the definition ‘‘Legendary’’. Even the crafting system is in this dumbed down manner.
D2 stats & affixes, removed or castrated, elemental damage % effects on weapons etc .Gone are stuff like Crushing blow, interesting block mechanics etc. We are given cooldown though copy & pasted from World of warcraft.
Gone is the interesting loot-hunt in Diablo 2 that always made you grind just a little more to find that awesome rare drop upgrade for your character.
TL;DR :
It’s not that Diablo 2 had the best itemization ever(It’s pretty okay for an old game and plenty of viable options in how to build a character) it’s just that Diablo 3s sucks so badly. How people still can argue this in 2020 is mystery beyond dark matter.
Only the D3 whiteknights argue this. And in this thread you’ve happened to come across 2 of the biggest. They see legendary effect on item and boom instantly itemization is good.
Legendary effects are far more interesting than all those affixes combined. It’s the whole reason why I don’t think D2’s itemization is anything special in this day and age.
I want D4’s legendary and set affixes to be game-changing (not in +30000 damage, but in altering skill powers). That makes for interesting items, not boring affixes that don’t really change how you play.
Thats just like saying D3 is not D3 without next seasson 21 isnt D3 (but another older season instead) because no one is updating D2 unlike there is everytime new sets and new content in D3 for every new season.
Do check D2 forums and watch people complain about how bricked D2 LoD servers in USEast are with this new ladder reset.
Blizzard is failing again with an old game just like they did with WC3 reforged, and this time its not even an update, its just a common ladder reset and people cannot play legit LoD servers.
You are gonna keep your sentence i guess because thats your argument in favor against D2, like always since yeah, its not legit LoD…
Glad that there is single player mode to get own servers and ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO PLAY THE GAME ONLINE when the developer fails to update their own game and clearly DGAF about the game.
