Angelic Crucible Drop Rate

The drop rate while playing is super low for these. The Goat Bloke gives you 21 in town but while running Rifts/Grifts you never see them.

The drop rate seems way too low and this is during a PTR enhanced drop rate.

Pump up the drop rate please Blizz.

Thx

The PTR no longer has a +2000% legendary drop rate buff.
They dropped that starting with the previous PTR.

Considering the RNG required to get the perfect roll on the item you want sanctified, I’d say having these drop at a rate of 1 per 5 rifts at bare minimum would be good. Spare ones will inspire us to roll another character and keep the season interesting.

Ahh thought the legendary drops seemed normal.

The Angelic Crucible drops are really low though. Needs a buff.

There is one thing that PoE makes absolutely perfect: you can experience their league theme the moment you exit the first town with your freshly created character.

D3 Seasons require to farm the endgame to maybe see them.

I agree we will need many attempts to have the perfect weapon

Agree. Paragon 700+ and not seen 1 yet drop from any where.

You can buy Angelic Crucibles for 50 blood shards in bag of fortune at PTR vendor.

Talking about in-game drop only. Yes, they come from the vendor but drop in-game is way too low…

It’s typical horrible Blizz RNG. I was like you… P700 and not a single one… then yesterday, I got 3 in an hour but back to none so far today.

I think the overall combination of RNGs is too much: drop + affixes + sanctified power. Right now the PTR eliminates the drop RNG and replaces it with normal/ancient quality RNG and it still feels like too much. I’ve gone through >100 crucibles to get ~5 usable legendaries (having 2 of 4 affixes: damage, +damage %, a primary stat affix and a desired secondary affix like CDR) without ever getting a weapon with 3 of 4 that could be rolled “perfect”.

With how build-defining the sanctified powers are, something needs to be changed to improve the odds of success. Either buff drop rate or make the desired power more deterministic.

They need to do both. Increase the drop rate AND make the item create ancient level stats 100 percent of the time instead of the 1/10 RNG rate.

I went through 5 to get an actually useable one on average. You should have to go through significantly more to get a “useable” (BiS ancient stats and preferred power) one.

The drop rate could be improved a bit to allow more participation in the theme, but the rest of the RNG (especially once the sanctification bug is fixed and all items are ancient) is perfectly fine and nowhere near “too much”.

Is that really a bad drop rate though?

I think people should be recording their drop rate, rather than just going by feel. I’ve found 3 through GRs while finding 0 Petrified Screams in a grand total of 28 GRs.

This isn’t to say it’s a 1 in 10 drop, as there is variance involved, and my sample size is far too low. Rather, I’m just looking for hard numbers, as many threads involving estimations seem to have a divorce from perception vs reality.

I have been testing full time (at least 8 hours a day since it opened) and have had exactly 1 (one) drop and that was from an EN. That is NOT a reasonable drop rate for PTR and definitely not for live. If each use was a guaranteed useful result, then maybe, but with the massive RNG involved it will take a fair number of these to get something useable.

It’s pretty common in both these seasons for a ~5% drop chance to result in players getting to P500+ without even seeing one, which in live means a lot of players not really participating in the seasonal theme. This is worse for this season because the thing you get could amount to nothing as you only have a 1/3 chance (napkin-math wise) of getting the effect you are looking for and even that is subject to bad RNG and additional complexity.

I guess I’m looking at it as the power vs the drop rate.

Let’s take the Ethereals season. What was the drop rate post 70? They had multiple powers. But a huge difference was that you seldom ever got a perfect Ethereal, even if it had the right combination of stuff. Assuming they fix the bug with it not giving ancient stats, you get the right rolls with this Angelic Crucible, and the season theme is done, unless you want to play other characters.

If we were talking pre Season 10, Paragon 500 isn’t really that far off. Even casually, that’s fewer than 10 hours for a season that’s going to last 4 months.

If we’re comparing it to other ARPGs, their season theme’s tend to be more gameplay modes. Different game play modes, I’d agree that it should be available to everybody. But in just terms of items, there needs to be a balance for the hardcore players and the more casual players. If you make the drop rate too common, you’re only shortening player participation.

Right now I assume the ancient/normal stats RNG is a bug based on the earlier descriptions from the Devs about how a crucible should work. Gives Primal stats (max, ancient level cap) but rerolls all affixes and gives a random sanctified power. Given how low the drop rate is, you’re likely to end up with a mediocre primal weapon (good damage, but questionable other affixes) with a power that does not fit your build (only 1:3 chance to get the power you want).

Given how build defining they are, this seems like a poor decision. I could easily see myself using my first crucible on an otherwise underpowered legendary so i could have the flexibility to build around it. You want to play DMO frozen orb but get the magic missile power on your Unstable Scepter? Good luck - it’ll be another ~40 hrs of game play before you can roll the slot machine again.

I don’t think “you get the right rolls” is going to be all that simple for most players. Most won’t likely even get the “right” power.

Also worth noting, I said “P500 or higher without seeing one” and not “didn’t get one until P500”. It’s an important distinction and casually, solo, (the way most angry people seem to be playing) people aren’t even reaching 70 in under three hours without a powerlevel.

Finally, getting the sanctified item you want is not the end of the season theme for people. Arguably it’s when participation starts, because you don’t get the item and log out, you get the item and use its effect to play throughout the season.

Keeping people out of this for 10+ hours isn’t really a great way to start a season, imo.

Let hope the drop rate will improve after the update of PTR now.
