ngl stuff like that can probably wait until after PTR closes. I don’t really think fixing the drop rate in the PTR is a high priority worth a lot of dev time or downtime for the PTR given the long list of issues in the launch.
I agree. I think the legendary power should simply be selectable in the cube as a 4th slot.
The crucible should simply roll the perfect ancient (or keep it as in the PTR and be just a chance for an ancient)
You play with the character at that point. It’s not like we all logged into the season with a 4th cube slot, saw it was attained, and then the season was suddenly over.
Even more so than with Ethereals and Shards, this isn’t about some exclusive gear hunt. This is about alternate powers to create and modify builds. With no more powerful than they are, they really need to drop rather often. There’s no payoff here spending months to acquire something that just disappears at the end of the season.
Just a quick note… they did NOT fix the stats for Crucibles with the hotfix. They only fixed lag, a targeting bug with WoL monk, and they took away the AoD hack from Rat’s. No more free damage reduction without casting AoD manually. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
they are talkng about the drop rate outside of having the vendor. How it would be crappy in live if drop rate is too low.
Did you notice if those unidentified Crucibles stack like the ones from D’jank Mieme do? It would seem they want more of them if they’re making them stackable before ID’ing them.
Those that I got were separate prior to ID.
And if you make the drop rate too low, overall player participation drops off even faster due to lack of interest… as we saw this season with Petrified Screams.
If anything, they should give out guaranteed crucibles with the Chpt 4 haedrig’s gift bag, for hitting GR70 and two for completing Guardian. Just ensures all players get to experience the them and out of 4 crucibles, hopefully get the roll they need for their build in order to encourage them to keep playing.
Maybe even one for reaching level 70 or paragon level 1? I know that is for some pretty fast, but still it means quite a quick entry into the season theme and especially if the leg rolls are not a bug, not per se OP. Someone will get a a perfectly rolled ancient with the right power at that level over all players RNG being RNG, but that would be quite rare and especially at that level you are not locked into a build yet so can use any power that rolls and it will be a bonus and most fun. At the later stages it gets more and more about right power with right rolls for your build.
It took me over 150 Crucibles to get the rolls on my weapon for the wizard. And it still doesn’t have fire damage on it that I would like it to have. I gave up after a while and rolled the weapon to primal. And rolled my off-hand in 2 rolls to what I needed.
I’ve only seen 1 Crucible drop in game since the start of PTR this maybe because of a bad drop rate or PTR problems.
I think one problem could be solved if the crucible consumables had names to them indicating which power they granted. That way someone would know not to put the wrong power on the wrong build’s item. Yes, you still have to worry about rolling good affixes and the power you get may not be the one you want, but you have a known build-defining power that will drastically increase a build’s power.
Example: I want to play a Firebird’s Wizard with the Magic Missile power. Instead, I get an Angelic Crucible of Arcane Power with grants the Arcane Orb angelic power. It’s not what I want, but I know to throw it on an Unstable Scepter and put together a DMO build while I wait for a drop of the Crucible of Magic Power that gives me Touhou Project magic missiles.
I really like this as a vehicle for seasonal themed items like this in general. This is a great suggestion.
The drop rate is what has me concerned with when the season starts. The way the crucibles are right now, you need about 20 of them to actually roll ancient stacks on an item with the right power. Most of the roles are legendary, and not ancient ,so this will have a huge impact when trying to roll a good weapon.
My experience has been approx 50 of them to get ancient stats along with the right power, that doesn’t even take into account getting decent affixes.
LOL… so you can get Angelic Crucibles from Echoing Nightmares. I ran a few and the 3rd one dropped one crucible from the chest. So they seem to be about the same miserable 5% drop rate as Primal Screams. But when they do drop you can get more than one. I had a pair drop in a GR105 run which was the only GR out of 30 or so that dropped any today.
